Went in yesterday and talked with Justin for a bit about which bikes would be best for our needs. Came back today and he had the ones we discussed set aside for a test ride. We're just getting into mountain biking and the process of buying our bikes and accessories couldn't have been better. Thomas and his crew at Gannett Peak Sports saved our vacation last week. We were traveling through Lander with our kayaks securely attached to our roof rack when a sudden 50 mph wind gust ripped our kayaks...rack included...from our truck. We stopped in at Gannett and Thomas quickly went to work to find a solution for us. He had the parts in stock to build a new rack that fit our truck topper. I stopped in last summer when on a bicycle tour from Denver to the Pacific Coast. Everyone in the shop was very warm and inviting. My bike was in pretty rough shape given I had forced an old road bike into submission as a touring bike. The guys got to fixing a misaligned derailer and tightened everything up for me at no charge. I did purchase some extra tubes and an extra tire, which met my needs. They also provided me with excellent directions and a maps of the area that I would be going through. After talking and leaving, I camped the night at a great little spot by the river they had recommended. It was on the back lawn of a hotel called The Holiday Lodge, and I never would have guessed to ask to stay there had they not mentioned it. The next day, I left town, but only pulled 5 miles before blowing through a tire (a piece of junk I picked up in Rawlins). While replacing the tire, I broke my rubber rim strip. After finally being picked up and taken back into town, I went back in and they donated a rim strip to 'the cause.' A lot of bike shops are full of snobby fixed kids or assholes with $5k racing bikes that scoff at touring, and creativity (many things on my bike were held on by pipe clamps and zip-ties). This is not the case at Gannett. These guys are great! Support this great local business! read more

I was on a multi-day ride from West Yellowstone to Boulder CO when my derailleur took on a life of its own. I was able to get to Gannett Peak Sports at the end of the day as I got into town. Ed was fantastic in tackling the problem that was just sprung on him. His expertise and fun and friendly attitude were more than welcome. The rest of the store staff were outstanding too. So I'm biking the transam and stopped in here to ask a few questions on where to stay and they were incredibly helpful and kind. Mike gave me the rundown on where to stay, where to shower and the good spots to eat. He even let me keep my bike in the shop for a bit as I got food and charged my phone. I went back there the next day and Ed gave me advice on routes in Colorado. Would highly recommend these guys to any cyclists passing through the lovely town of Lander - they epitomize great service. read more

Contacted Gannett Peak Sports for a bike I was unable to get in my local area. They had the bike assembled in their shop already. They were willing to disassemble the bike and ship it to a local bike shop in my area for reassembly. This involved several phone calls to coordinate the purchase and shipping. I was extremely happy with all aspects of this purchase. During the process there were several calls between myself and various staff at Gannett Peak Sports, they were all knowledgeable of the process and all extremely professional. They put a new chain on and adjusted the gears for me before I headed out across the big open of Jeffrey City, and the Red Desert. They give good advice and take pride in everything they do. He was very inquisitive and interested in my tour and my experiences thus far, just great customer service. After I signed their guestbook, he also lubed my chain for me. Most friendly bike shop I've ever walked in to. I'm on the TransAm and having issues with my bike. I walked in and they looked at it immediately. I spent the next hour in the shop talking to several people. They were interested in my ride and provided good alternatives for me to consider since I'm ahead of schedule.
