Close to our Airbnb just a few blocks from Friedrichstab station. Had both inside and outside seating. Some of the outside seating was right by the river. Also had overhead space heaters. Soft listening French music planning. The service was relatively quick especially compared to other places in Europe. My place sitting was missing a napkin. I asked twice and eventually resorted to taking from another table. The food was good but not all great. We really enjoyed our steak frites. Cut right and tender. We had just done our touristy boat thing and needed to eat. Saw a few restaurants on the waterfront and thought it would be a good location to enjoy the city views. We stopped at Ganymed and found a nice table sitting along side the water edge. The staff was so nice and provided us with menus in English. Nice variety of food from casual to high end. We both found something that appealed to us. I tried the Tartes flambées which is like a flatbread pizza but so much better. I was in heaven. My spouse had the Nizza Salad. It rained a bit but with the umbrella and red blankets to keep you warm, it was perfect. We could have stayed longer but had to make our next visit. read more

Everything was decadent! The ambiance, the music, the food, the dessert, the service. I might just come back to Berlin to eat here again. This is how a meal should go. I only had the French onion soup and the goat cheese salad. Both were perfection. The creme brûlée was silky and heavenly to finish off this meal. We were looking for something light to eat and came across this place by accident. The waiter immediately vibed with us and he was hilarious. He chose our wines and changed/suggested my wife's food order, which she ended up appreciating. We started w/the bread and octopus salad; had cod and salmon, ending things with a creme brûlée and double espressos. Our waiter gave us a history of the restaurant and answered any and all Berlin related questions we asked. We will visit again during our next trip. read more

Tourist trap warning! I had a late lunch at Ganymed a few weeks ago. It was not a pleasant experience, except for the view over the river. I ordered a pasta dish, beer and water. The food was served, but not the drinks. I had to remind the staff twice before I got them. Then I ordered a desert ("Erdbeer Sensation"). The people at the neighboring table ordered the same dish, at the same time. After quite a long time, my neighbors were served their desert, but I was not. I waited more than half an hour and reminded the grumpy staff politely, four times. When the desert finally arrived, after about 40 minutes, there was no apology, no explanation, for the very slow service. There were not very many other guests at the time, so the reason for the slow service could not be that the staff or the kitchen were very busy. The food was, however, decent, but not more than that. When I had finished my meal, I was in a hurry to move on. I got the bill. It seemed a bit expensive, but I paid and rushed away. When I later had a look at the receipt (which the waiter at first had thrown away, and only reluctantly gave me after I had asked for it), I noticed that the waiter instead of compensating for the very slow and unpleasant service, he had added a dish for €11 that I had not ordered nor received. I doubt that it was unintentional. To summarize: this is a restaurant that has a nice location and therefore can thrive without pleasing its guests. The guests are mainly tourists who will not come back anyway. A restaurant like that can be called a tourist trap. Avoid it! read more

A french-ish restaurant in the midst of east Berlin. A short walk from Friedrichstrasse train station (10minutes). Nice little low-key place. The lobster bisque was good. Nice and light. My dad had mussels cooked Belgian style (just in white wine and some herbs). It was good and light, but of course it didn't beat the ones he tried in Belgian. My sister had the duck which was a huge serving, and fantastic. Would definitely go back. read more

I agree with Scott A this is really a romantic lovely place! Unbelievable 13 degrees temperature at that sunny day in early March made it possible to sit outside near Spree river and to enjoy sun + food! A twice starters salad with fried goat cheese on a honey sauce were delicious! Main course twice codfish with vegetables + grain were yummy! Service was very friendly and attentive! We enjoyed to be outside with view on river. Ambiance was very relaxing and friendly. read more

This restaurant is a lovely place to have a romantic dinner or sit outside on the bank of the Spree on a warm evening. The food is quite good and sometimes quite imaginative. The main courses tend to be French classics but the side dishes and deserts are where the kitchen gets creative. As you might guess the wine list is mostly French. Do not spend your money here. We had a very poor experience here yesterday. Service was slow and rude if not arrogant. I ordered a dish which after first tasting I had an issue with. When I spoke with the waiter, he wouldn't take it back and remove it from the bill. I had not eaten more than one bite at this point. When the next senior staff member approached the table and heard my concerns, I was dismissed with a simple "NO, it's not possible, you ordered it, you're paying for it" and absolutely refused to take the food back to the kitchen and remove it from the bill. I have learned that this was in fact the owner Michael Pankow. He did not treat my concern with respect or understanding but with aggression and a dismissive attitude. To those wishing to spend some time on the spree, there are many better places to spend your money and not get brushed off like tourist trash. No doubt that the owner will respond to this review, but read previous reviews about the service and see the consistency of bad reviews in this respect. It was our 19 anniversary . We were looking forward to this night . Reserved for 7:00 pm . On time was seated . We give our order for two glasses of wine and waited 40 mins and still nothing . We left . When a hostess takes you to your table , she should have menus in hand . For the prices charged they should have more then one waiter on the floor . The bartender , should know what orders they have and no waiter should be walking to one table next to the other without both orders . All in all , whom ever manages this place hasn,t got a clue about management .Never again ! read more

Horrible service! It took forever just to get a glass of wine. My food came and I was still waiting for my drink. If you are hungry, this is also not the place for it took over an hour to get my food. The waiting staff seems disorganized and the waitress was also a bit rude. She was literally going around different tables asking if anyone has ordered the plate in her hand because she could not remember. I would have given this place a higher score for the food is ok. Expensive and not great service. Mixed views on the food. Our server was too interested in the tables at the back and the larger bottles of more expensive wine than we were ordering . My son and I found this by accident two years ago when we were jet-lagged, starved, and hungry, and the restaurant went all out to provide a wonderful Chateaubriand for two, carved table-side. This time there were four of us, and again general agreement that food (Chateaubriand again, coq-au-vin for another of our party, and Arctic char for another) was outstanding. Escargot and fish soup appetizers were top notch and the finale, créme brûlée ("this sets the standard") torched at the table, cheese plate (all French, "this transports me to Paris") and dark chocolate mousse were noteworthy. Can't praise it enough. Terrific service and location--we started outside, riverside, and moved inside when the weather turned and so had a chance to see both sides of the restaurant. Our concierge at the Adlon recommended this gem. We wanted a civilized lunch close to the river boat cruises. We were delighted with this delicious brasserie. Coq au vin and entrecôte were fabulous. Lobster soup was excellent. We definitely recommend Ganymed. read more

We were four persons, visiting the restaurant January 2. Three of us ordered oysters, they appeared a bit dry, as if opened some hours ago. The next day the three of us were very sick, and it took three days to recover. read more
