This is my stop when I'm out east of town. The thing about the Gap Outlet is I either love everything or hate everything on each trip. This trip I managed to find some tank tops on sale for $7.99. That was a great deal so I picked up a few. I was on my way to an appointment so I hit this place right as they were opening at 10am and was out the door in less than 15 minutes. I hate going in when a store first opens, I'm afraid I'm going to be the one that messes up the stacks of clothes (heehee) not that it will matter at the end of the day, but you know... Always a good quick stop. For some reason when you are in front of the store it continues to say your are four miles from the store so it won't allow you to check in but what the heck. I'll stop by again.

"Yelpers report this location has closed." However, that's not true because we just shopped here. I submitted edits to Yelp to remove "by Simon Property Group" from the business name and reopen the listing. Hopefully, by the time you read this, the listing will be open again. According to a January 25, 2016 article by Chain Store Age, Simon Property Group sold "Columbia Gorge Premium Outlets" to New York-based Time Equities Inc. (TEI) for $28,425,000: https://chainstoreage.com/real-estate/time-equities-acquires-columbia-gorge-premium-outlets-000 Currently, Columbia Gorge Outlets is managed by Norris & Stevens. According to TEI, the 164,236-sf outlet mall "is 87% leased to 37 tenants. All the tenants are national retailers." https://timeequities.com/properties/columbia-gorge-outlets Our group of eight visited Portland for vacation. We stayed in the city and took a day trip to hike in the nearby Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. We stopped by this outlet mall to pick up some items for hiking. For example, someone bought a shirt from the Columbia Factory Store and another person got shoes (sneakers) from Famous Footwear Outlet. This outlet mall is conveniently located right off I-84 exit 17 (Marine Drive / 257th Avenue) in Troutdale, Oregon. Troutdale is a suburb of Portland. The two cities are about 16 miles apart and both are located in Multnomah County. The outlet mall is about halfway between Portland and where we hiked (Wahkeena Falls). Great location for what we needed. Columbia Gorge Outlets is one of the smaller outlet malls I've visited. The size and look of it is more akin to a typical American suburban shopping center than a sprawling outlet mall. In terms of appearance and amenities, it was pretty standard. Before heading out, a few of us used the restrooms by the mall's offices on the south side of the property. Overall, the property was clean and expectedly peaceful and quiet during our visit on a Friday morning around 10:38am.

A few minutes of being there they shut off the music in the building making it extremely awkward walking around in silence. Furthermore the only two girls working that night were focusing on closing duties- not once asking if my friend or I would like to start a room- and we had our arm full of clothes. There were a few other shoppers also in the store, none were greeted or helped either. The atmosphere was very cold, which is extremely upsetting coming from a self-proclaimed Loft spokesgirl. I'm a literal walking Loft billboard and have never felt so unwanted in a store. Yes, the store was large and was stocked with amazing pieces, but going out to the gorge and making this stop was not worth it. I found 3 items which, yes I love, but the outlet doesn't offer any of the same discounts as the regular stores. They also don't accept loft cash which is inconvenient.

On my way back this time, I decided to stop at the Outlet mall in Troutdale. I had been here before, but I never cared for it. I guess deep down this store was calling my name. The Loft opened a store in this mall six weeks ago, six weeks ago, can you believe it. They are located in the old Liz Claiborne store. I scored quite a few items. I keep telling myself I don't need anything else, but every time I stop by the Loft, I end up getting 5 to 6 items. Ugh, I still have 3 weeks left in Hood River. This is going to be expensive.

No matter, we're visiting Camas and my planned to window shop. Oh, yeah, I remember! It was cold outside, and being indoors keep you warmer. It's like window-shopping in Arizona, where it's so hot outside and being inside an AC keeps you cooler. I found they have the styles I LOVE to wear. Being a petite, short, well-traveled woman THIS is my store to be! I spotted shoes I'd buy in Spain. I spotted leather jacket, colors I don't own, size I wouldn't buy, but hey! It fits me perfectly when it's zip. It's got pockets, and zippers. I needed this jacket! The staff answered my questions, she helped me. But can you believe it? It's XL. That's a FIRST! Do I look like an EXTRA LARGE? I must be. But, this jacket is MINE! When I got home, and research more on the brand: It turned out, I just purchased the largest leather maker in Europe, and they sell other brands and it is the largest in the world! Woo hoo! We're heading there in March, and I couldn't afford to buy it at Neiman Marcus, but I could in Arktana. I also found out, they have another jacket, similar to my new jacket in the style of FLORI. But, this style, that I bought, I like it so much better. I am so glad we stopped there! Thank you, for letting me carry it back to our car, to hang, instead of wrapping it in something I will have to throw out. The photo, below is from the lining of my jacket. The heart reminds me: we bought it during our 50th Valentine's Day anniversary! :) I will have a birthday this month. So perfect!

The front of the store has the conventional "cowboy" boots and hats, ranging in price from "oh, that seems reasonable" to "WOW! I never realized that these were so expensive!". The back of the store has a huge selection of fashionable work footwear, and the middle of the store has many racks of apparel. Boots are arranged by size (just as shoes in a shoe store are), but the signage was easy for me to overlook. After spending a lot of time generally feeling lost, the only on-duty employee came over and provided a HUGE amount of help. She spent a lot of time bringing me boots of various styles and price ranges, various insoles to try them with, and explained to me that they could stretch three different areas of the boots if a liked pair needed a bit of adjustment. I ultimately selected a really nice pair that carried a high price tag, but this truly seems like a one-time investment, so I didn't mind this. I'm really impressed with Boot Barn, and highly recommend it if you're looking for Western wear or Western work shoes or boots. Don't let the toppled wooden horse in the parking lot dissuade you.

As the name implies, they have racks and racks of western style boots in all shades of brown, black and beige. Men's, women's and children sizes. Lots of cowboy hats, too! Plus some accessories like earrings, necklaces, belts - all bobjo and southwestern in style, think faux silver with turquoise and leather. There was a small clothing section with jackets, shirts, boho maxi dresses and jeans. Was very happy with my purchase and fear I'll be stopping in more frequently if my wallet can take it! Actually, the prices were very reasonable, it's just that I need absolutely nothing but love fashion and have zero willpower!
