I found such a place at Billings Bridge Mall - Growing Kids. The clothes are really hip (a mini Sens jersey anyone???) and they have these pretty princess dresses for your little princess!!! The prices are very cool and they have sales all the time. The day I went in, everything was 25% off! It is around the corner from the LCBO and near the exit by Independent Grocery.

We found two dresses at the store that we both fell in love with and a bonus was that they had all the accessories to go with her outfit. Nice white nylons and the sales assistant, Evelyn, helped my daughter try on a variety of different shoes. The prices were very reasonable and there was no hard sell. Evelyn, really took the time to connect with my daughter and find out what we both were looking for. She took a lot of care wrapping the special dresses in clothes bags and making sure that my daughter felt very special too. We had a super girls time in this store and will definitely consider coming back when we are looking for dressy clothes on another occasion. Saw lots of nice duds for the boys here too. The area isn't really cluttered like it might seem at first glance, however. Items are organized by type and age range. Needful things for the littlest ones seem to take up the front of the store: Robeez, layette sets and age-appropriate toys. There are things for the bigger kids, too. I've found that all I need to do is ask and I can be shown exactly what I'm looking for. My most recent venture involved a raincoat. The sales associate who helped me was fantastic. She showed me the selection and even offered suggestions in a way that was helpful and without pressure, all while taking into consideration what my preschool age son might like. She even involved him in the process, much to his delight. The prices are reasonable, in some cases even a few dollars less than what you could expect to pay at a bigger store.

If you are looking for minimalist, basic, neutral colors (think zara baby, h&m baby and baby gap), you probably wont find that vibe here. Online orders with the worst customer service. Order online because it's convenient…read more Ordered around $300 in their product In The last few weeks with multiple orders. One item has a rip in it. Their response from customer service is that I need to bring this $5 item to one of their locations to be inspected before I'm provided a refund. In a DONOTREPLY email. Basically they just shut down any online communication when their item is defective even though you ordered through their online site because it's convenient. It's NOT convenient to have to drag my children on a bus to one of your locations to have a shirt inspected. If I wanted that I would have simply shopped in person at your store and inspected the merchandise I was purchasing before bringing it home with me. Now you want me to spend more on bus fair alone than the item is worth, plus my time, plus the frustration of the ordeal simply to have a shirt replaced. No thank you. It will go in the garbage and I will simply scratch you off my list of stores I purchase from. Worst customer service I've ever encountered.

For those not familiar with Joe Fresh it's a Canadian brand that in Canada is sold exclusively at Loblaws (a grocery store), Loblaws affiliated stores (e.g. Real Canadian Superstore, Atlantic Superstore, etc.), and of course in their free-standing Joe Fresh stores. They've expanded to the USA with standalone stores and they were sold at JC Penney's for a while, but not anymore, so they might be in other stores in America now, I'm not sure. The designer behind the brand is Joe Mimran of Club Monaco fame (his wife is Kimberly Newport, founder of Pink Tartan). Despite these big names though, Joe Fresh is cheap fast fashion, not designer duds. When the brand first launched at Loblaws in the mid-2000s, admittedly I thought that buying clothes at a grocery store was weird, but the line is very successful and so much so that they built free-standing stores. I like the casual styles of Joe Fresh, but quality control is not great in my opinion. I've noticed skewed hems, loose threads, and some of their stuff shrinks very oddly in the dryer. However, they have really good sales and I've gotten jeans for less than $5 and dresses for less than $10. I mostly wear their stuff to loaf around the house or to run quick errands. They also have athletic wear in cute styles, so I wear Joe Fresh to the gym too. Their sizes run a bit big, so you'll likely have to size down. They don't have petites or tall, but they have plus sizes (up to 3X). They sell men's, women's and kid's clothes. Regular clothes, workout clothes, outerwear, sleepwear and underwear. This location is large and has more selection than at the grocery stores. Lots of free parking since it's in an enclosed mall.

I originally was not going to go in, but then saw a huge sign that said 30% off everything and just had to check it out. I really got that whole GAP, slash H&M vibe from this store. I was pretty impressed. Their items are mid priced, but not cheap, i.e $39.99 for a top. Thankfully for their 30% off Pre Black Friday Sale, I snagged a pair of pajamas and a cardigan for just over $40.00. Customer service was alright. The associate on the sales floor acknowledged me, but the cashiers were not the friendliest (maybe it was because it was super busy and they were stressed...who knows?) I am still trying to separate Joe Fresh, from Loblaws grocery chain, but I think its neat that their clothing line came this far.

I love this style, but unfortunately, do not have the height to pull it off, lol. They do have some more fitted and structured items, but I would say the majority of their stuff is of a baggier fit (think Caftans and Ponchos). Also, I find that they don't carry a lot of smaller sizes, so if you are smaller than a North American 6, you likely won't find much that fits you. However, they also carry jewelry and other accessories. I have never bought anything at Shepherd's because nothing I've tried on has ever fit me, but I do like looking around at the cool styles. And maybe one of these days they will actually carry something that fits me. Prices are a bit on the higher end (tops $75-$175, pants are about $100 and dresses are around the $200 mark - and we're talking casual to semi-formal dresses). However, the styles are a bit different and you will likely not see too many other people on the street wearing the same thing. Some of their stuff I find a bit matronly, but some of their stuff is really neat. I loathe to use the term "mature woman" but let's just say that I doubt any tweens, teens, or even those in their 20s would find anything there to their liking. Shepherd's used to have a few stores in Ottawa (Rideau Centre, Bayshore and a brief stint at Tanger), but now their only location is at Trainyards.
