I am truly blown away. Look out the rest of Suburban Square retail stores, these 2 girls are SLAYING it! I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience warrants one…read more What should have been a straightforward purchase, exchange, and return became an unnecessarily prolonged and uncomfortable experience at this store. Despite having all receipts and returning all items, staff repeatedly insisted they could not issue the correct refund and cited "system limitations." During the process, the interaction became tense and uncomfortable, and I was treated as if I were being unreasonable for simply asking that the refund match what I had paid. I ultimately declined an incorrect partial refund and was referred to corporate customer service. Lilly Pulitzer Customer Care (not this store) was excellent. The corporate team was patient, professional, and worked to mediate the issue. Unbelievably, even with their involvement, the store remained resistant. The matter was finally resolved after Lilly Pulitzer corporate leadership intervened and contacted the local store manager,. Unfortunately, I had to return to the local Ardmore store for the store manager to process the return as she should have done in the first place. There was no acknowledgment or ownership of the error at the store level by the store manager. Customer Care did their job well. The store did not. This should never have required escalation or multiple visits.

I can only speak to one other consignment for kids that I've been to, but the prices weren't bad at all. They were pretty comparable to the other store. Some of the designer items were understandably priced higher. The others were fine by me, especially with the sale price tacked on. I bought at least 5 or 6 items for around $13. As to the staff, I thought they were pleasant. Twice they inquired if I was looking for anything specific and they directed me to where I needed to be. They also told me about their fill-a-bag sale coming up (yes, I'll definitely be back, because I love a fill-a-bag thrift sale). I even spied some items at the counter I may come back for for myself. Overall, it was a great experience. You would be surprised how high new clothes for toddlers can run, so I only shop secondhand. In the long run, even saving a little goes a long way! But every time I have gone in, and twice now when I have come in to consign, I have checked the website in advance, gone in, and been told I was wrong to bring in what I have brought. Which is frustrating because I went through the trouble of bringing in things that the website says is being accepted, but I am treated like a know nothing when I walk in the door. My sense of the place is that the owner means well but is disorganized. The website is clearly out of date, and she is defensive when you explain that you were just following her published info. I want to give them another shot, but I have never been treated this way at Greene street consignment or Nesting House. I'm more inclined to support businesses that have their stuff together, and my sense is that this place ain't it.

The time has come where I can no longer buy the NMT clothing based on his age (3T) or his size (M)…read more No, the NMT is now a 16 year old, with his first serious summer job. This job required blue jeans, an article of clothing he previously shunned. I knew we'd need a variety of sizes and cuts for him to figure out what was most comfortable. So off we go to Old Navy, me happily and him looking like he was in the Bataan Death March. He's not a clothes shopper. As expected, they had their Wall Of Jeans, grouped by cut. We got there early, just after opening. What was surprising and disappointing was the disarray on the shelves. Jeans heaped in piles. Sizes all over the place. Sizes plain old missing. If looked like the end of a busy day, not the start. I plowed through, sending Sir Grumpy off to try on different cuts and measurements. Fairly...almost too quickly- he deemed a pair or two "perfect". Fine. I then browsed for some shorts for me, found a few great pairs. Done. This particular location is cavernous, as it was a Penn Fruit grocery store in a previous life. It's decent laid out and well lit. The staff were fine. Where it fell short though was in the disarray- either poor restocks no management, or none. Given that the big is an odd size tight now I likely will be going elsewhere in the future, where the stocking is better and the size availability is complete.
