It turns out they joined the Pitman business scene back in May at the spring craft fair. The shop is cute, minimalistic, and inviting. Unlike some shops, it's impossible to feel overwhelmed by the products. Everything is well-placed and easy to digest. They have signs inside and out front advertising upcoming craft workshops and even a scrapbook gathering. Later in July, they'll have a BYO wooden pineapple painting night also. I'd definitely be up for attending an event in the future if it matches my interests. The shop specializes in its namesake: restored antiques, furniture, and home decor. They have lots of those little wooden inspirational planks, plus a bunch of different candles and assorted gifts. I'd say the vibe is modern rustic. The prices are really affordable for the quality too. Now that I know the shop exists, I'm certain I'll be back when in search for gifts. While a good number of vendors had what I was looking for, all -- yes all! -- were priced way too high (in my opinion.) We took a ride to Mullica Hill, NJ. First stop, Yellow Garage Antiques. I was poking around, not looking for anything in particular. I spotted a booth with fabulous clothing and well-priced fur jackets. I vacillated. Not over whether to buy, but which one to buy: the mink or racoon? (I bought the mink; less bulky.) The booth vendor who works at the store, maybe even owns it, was lovely. I like this shop. Prices are set by each seller: some reasonable, some sort of high. I saw wonderful shelves and mirrors (Tramp art, one mirror made from large spools), interesting gadgets, pottery -- the things you find at antique malls. Mullica Hill is a cute little town with Victorian homes and a few antique shops. Less than an hour from where I live in PA, it was a great day trip.

I wasn't in the market for anything, but I know what things cost. Prices here are commensurate with other antique malls. A couple of exceptions: some booths are selling record albums for way too much money, records you might find for a dollar in Goodwill. Conversely, there's an enamel top table, likely from the 1940s, priced at $50. That's a steal! (I know; I bought one years ago on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.) If that's not cheap enough, the table comes with four chairs! Old Mill has two floors with the usual array of stuff. The women tending shop are friendly and helpful. And if you come on a hot day, you'll be happy that the store is nicely air conditioned!

We always enjoyed walking through this eclectic little antique store when we'd visit Pitman. Come to our surprise to find out it's just like every other co-op down the shore nowadays. No more charm, no more quirk, just laminate floors with AI-generated signs for sale. As we're walking along, the older woman working the front says "the antique store closed about a year ago" and I remark "aww it's so sad!" To which she responds: "no it's not, because then my business wouldn't be able to be here -- but you knew I was gonna say that!" Um...what? Lady, maybe you should get a grip because I actually have no clue who you are! I hope your business thrives and you get a better attitude.
