In short, perfectly fine, but not spectacular. I have personally had pizza here twice, and both times have found it dry and considerably lacking in both tomato and cheese - and therefore taste. The best item on the menu used to be a vegetarian goulash, though sadly this was taken off at some point last year.

It was a cozy Italian spot and the service was wonderful. We started off with some focaccia and olives and they bring out a really nice olive oil with balsamic. Then we had the gamberoni picante which came in a lovely red sauce. For our mains we had the seafood casserole and the ribeye. Both tasted really nice and we were pretty happy with the experience. Definitely the kind of place you go for a casual dinner or late night bite.

The arancini completely changed my mind about a dish I've always considered an overrated way for a restaurant to dispose of extra risotto. The wine and cheese were superb, chosen for us by the charming wait staff. The digestif menu features a small but punchy selection of grappas -- never a given at British Italian restaurants and always appreciated by me.

They also have a nice selection of Italian deli bits and bobs for you to take away with you. We found some of the charcuterie and cheese impossible to resist. The idea is to order a few tapas sized portions of various dishes and then mix and match with your eating partners - and it works a treat. Not quite full? Order something else - the kitchen is efficient and we have never waited too long. Now that we are semi-regulars the staff have got to know us to some extent. I am very much into my wine and I take some care when ordering a bottle any place I go. At Stuzzi when they ask me what I want to drink I now just ask them to 'bring me something interesting' and that is exactly what they do. They have never let me down. Every time the wine that arrives at the table is well selected - delicious and not unreasonably priced. This is a restaurant that wants people to enjoy the wines on offer so the prices are sensible - in so many places these days the price of a decent bottle is ridiculous, but here you will find the opposite. If you want fine dining and silver service that's not what this place is about. It's too laid back for that and it's now what they set out to do. Thankfully we happened on Cosa Nostra, a large multilevelled Italian restaurant on Church Street and they had a table free! Shown to the upper levels of the restaurant, it was a good place to relax away from the hustle and bustle on a busy May evening. The menu had a decent variety of traditional and more unusual dishes from pizza to pasta, fish dishes to calzone. Not feeling at our most ravenous, we opted for two standard dishes, linguini carbonara and linguini ragu, washed down with a pint of draught Peroni, accompanied by some garlic bread. When the dishes arrived, wow, the portions are enormous at this place! Two large bowls of pasta and a generous pizza sized portion of thin crust garlic bread. The carbonara was spot on, the creaminess of the sauce contrasted perfectly with the saltiness of the bacon, the garlic bread heavy on the garlic, as it should be and the ragu full of earthy tomato flavours. Gamely though we tried, we couldn't finish any of the components, as we both were just recovering from a cold. The head waiter was so concerned with our lack of progress, he offered to pack us up a doggy bag! Reassuring him the food was spot on, we vowed to return when our appetites renewed.
