We rented Casa Costilia A & B for thanksgiving. The property sat right on the beach & was driving/golf ride from local grocery stores which was a plus. If you're looking to book a location just for a family visit this is ideal as it accommodates a large group with great parking. The house came equipped with everything you would need in a kitchen. It was advised as only having a drip coffee machine however, it offered a kerig with drip and k cup option. It also had an iron the laundry room in which the property company said was not included. I would suggest better TVs in a home that accommodates such a large group. The volume in the casa a was difficult to hear. My suggestion- increase the guest experience by investing in a better TV brand (Sony or Samsung) with a larger inch. We all set in one house trying to watch a Christmas movie and it was really hard. For the rental company & home owner- maybe include better instructions on where the separate piles should go upon check-out. Should they be left in the room? Should they be left in the kitchen? Overall, this was a great house for our group and the kitchen that allowed us to make Thanksgiving dinner easily. Oh! A portable stand would be great too! It'll help multiple chefs! This house was in poor condition nothing like photos that they advertised. They should be ashamed of themselves, they did not care. I trusted them with my family. There was mold everywhere in the house. The pool didn't work. The pool deck was completely in disarray leaks throughout the house on the phone constantly every day. How was that a vacation for my family? The house was sold a week after we left, which I did find out who the seller was, and I did find out who the buyer was, and they knew about it. They did not want to put any more effort into making sure that we enjoyed Our vacation and that we were safe in the environment that we paid for . I am contacting Town officials in Surfside Beach and I will continue to reach out to our legislators government to hold them accountable for doing what they did . I didn't even get an apology. We had roaches in our condo for 4 days. The realty company delayed getting an exterminator and blamed the HOA when it is listed that the HOA takes care of outside issues and the realty company should take care of the inside. They moved us to a new condo where there were also roaches and then moved us to a new condo and told us they were losing money and said we could go home for a partial discount and could not guarantee there weren't going to be roaches in he new condo and per their customer manager Sylvie, the matter was resolved from her perspective. read more

We had a vacation scheduled October 8, 2022, that is when Hurricane Ian hit on 9/30. The area suffered significant damage. The swimming pool was full of sand and could not be used, access to the beach was closed due to storm damage. The day before our arrival the road to our rental house was still closed. We purchased travel insurance with Red Sky when we made our reservations with Garden City. We cancelled due to the hurricane, we were denied a refund, because there was "no mandatory evacuation of the area" Since then we have had much communication with Garden City Realty to no avail, however we were offered to come back "at a discounted rate". We were given a false sense of security with a travel insurance purchase, had we known we would have cancelled early enough so as not to lose the entire reservation charge. read more

While planning a spring break vacation to Garden City, I knew that I wanted a house with a private pool, lots of bedrooms and close to the ocean. I did a google search and bam! I got exactly what I wanted. I was able to pinpoint exactly what I wanted and sent in an application for reservations. I thought it was a little strange to fill out an application to be able to stay but I was notified quickly, that our reservations were approved and the deposit went through. We arrived after business hours but had received a detailed email letting us know what we needed to do in order to get to our home. We were provided with keys and instructions that were left on the property. Upon arriving, we were pleasantly surprised that all of our expectations were met and exceeded. The property was amazing. Very clean and in a great location. The house has 3 balconies, laundry room, living room, an amazing kitchen, downstairs master, 1 half bath, living room upstairs (listed as a 5th bedroom but equipped with 2 sofas), 3 bedrooms upstairs and all with their own bathrooms. The realty company provided us with garbage bags, towels, sheets, washcloths, toilet paper, soap and shampoo. We had to go to the realty company office the next morning to sign paperwork for our rental. Everyone that we encountered was very polite and professional. We had one lady let us know she was new and would be with us shortly. We were finally taken care of by another employee that asked for the last name on the rental. I gave her the last name and signed paperwork and was told that was everything that was needed. I was surprised that they did not need to see an ID, get a credit card on file for security or verify any information that was given to them weeks ago via the online application. Though everyone was helpful and very polite, I would want more information/verification about the guests that were staying in my home if I were the owner. Check out was hassle free and quick. Again, everyone in the office asked how our trip was and thanked us for staying at one of their vacation homes. I can't speak for every property but our rental was great. We had someone come and clean the pool during our stay who was very friendly. The house was very clean and well maintained. read more

Buyer Beware. Don't trust the reviews on individual properties as posted on GARDEN CITY REALTY's site, because they only share four and five star reviews. We rented VIP HOUSE at Garden City Beach and all of the mattresses were very worn out. Instead of having a restful vacation, we were all pretty miserable. We reported to agency, they came out and inspected and even agreed with us, but offered no remedy. We will search for other independent reviews on other sites by searching under the property name and location in the future. A responsible rental company would have posted our review and responded that mattresses had been replaced. read more

I was charged an additional $430.00 for the cleaning service having to do their job--clean. There was less than a dust pan of dirt/debris swept which was not mine. No one in my party of 6 wore make-up (no need for a beauty blender) and no one has the type of hair you would need a hair pick for. Even if it was ours, I paid a cleaning fee up front. Also, the blood massacre they claim happened which supposedly resulted in having to replace most of the bedding. My party consisted of 2 grown men, 2 grown women (one of which has passed that monthly time in her life and the other was fortunate enough to be free of that time during vacation) and 2 teenage boys. Those few bogus blood spots and that dust pan of trash - $430.00??? No one in my party bled while on vacation. I have asked for time stamped photos for my proof that this occurred while my family was in the home. I have not received any time stamped photos to prove this happened on Saturday, July 29th. How can you charge a person any amount of money without showing them VALID proof that the problem was their fault? I need VALID PROOF that this happened during the time my family stayed at this property. I also noticed another complaint against GCR for thr same thing!!! read more

I'm going to write this review from the moment I walked in to 303 Sea Oaks, Garden City SC. Initially walking in the kitchen and living room it looked like the photos online besides the broken coffee table they left in the corner. Walking into the master room there is a lump in the floor, very noticeable. The room itself was okay, clutter with books in the drawers but okay besides that. Going into the master bathroom I found an old razor in the shower which made me believe it wasn't cleaned, so I proceeded to clean both showers to make sure they in fact were for my sanity. Walking into the spare room, seem okay until u get to the closet where there was clutter of random things. Going back to the kitchen to put my groceries up, no space for me to put the items I bought. Every cabinet was clutter with stuff, even under the sink. In the photos attached, take note that nothing is mine. I have had to leave all my food items all over the counters. All the cups and silverware were disgusting!! The silverware holder had crumbs all in it, so all the cups and silverware that I cleaned is on the counter as well! Later in the day I noticed the a/c in the living room was not as cold as the back rooms (I'm assuming that's why they had a stand up fan in the living room area). I put the fan in the hall to push the cold air from the back rooms into the living room. The back light on the patio worked for a second, then went out. The back patio is not as pictured and was not cleaned and had outdated furniture. I went to the real estate company Garden City Realty to explain all this that I encountered. I spoke with the "manager" Danielle, who listened with a smile and suggested maintenance and sending out the same house keeping crew that was suppose to clean it in the first place. I must say I paid to much for this rental to have to deal with all of this. She was very rude, she smiled but was rude and very condescending. I'm a single mother of 5, I didn't deserve this condo in its condition nor the way she handled it. I save up every year for my kids to have a vacation and I was met with this. I would suggest for anyone not to rent 303 or do business with this company period. On a side note they say they open at 8:30 am online and on the door. They made me wait and told me they didn't open till 9. Good luck if you decide to come here cause I will never be back! read more

I asked Pam specifically when she called to schedule another room due to some kind of mishap with our original reservation a week before our arrival if the pool at this complex was open...She said Beach House was one of the condos with an open pool....Get here and it is not....and no one from the office will return my call! Each year the wife and I along with the daughter, son-in law and grand daughter take a family vacation and this year we chose the Murrells Inlet/Garden City area. Garden City Realty: Typical of any realty company you will rent from at the beach. They fee you to death for everything. We made our reservation online and were charged a $90 reservation fee for that!?! Also make sure you take the trip insurance because the rental contract is written so that the realty company always wins and you always lose no matter what. Even though the insurance company, Red Sky will make you fight tooth and nail to get your refund and take a month or more to get you refund to you, you will still lose the reservation fee and the trip insurance fee. I guess losing $178 is better than losing your entire deposit. Check in was a cluster you know what! We arrived at 5 pm one hour after check in was to start to find the parking lot and the field across the street packed. My wife had to stand in line 30 minutes to reach a check in window. It was 6 pm before will finally got to the condo. Inlet Pointe #4: One of the reasons we chose this condo was its sits on Murrells Inlet and the beach is right across the street. There is a private, gated walk way to the beach but keep in mind if you are carrying stuff to and from the beach there are two steep sets of stairs to navigate. There is public access about 1/2 mile from the complex with stairs that are much easier to use. The condo was nice although furniture was outdated and beds were hard. Linen package is now included but the website had not been updated to inform us of that, so we brought our linens and towels with us. Kitchen was well equipped to prepare meals. Plenty of hot water for showers and to do dishes. It was quite at night. There is also a pool, full cable Tv and high speed Wi-Fi. The other reason we choose this condo was the complex has a private dock that extends out over the inlet and our entire family loves to fish. Even though the website said it would be open, we arrive to find it under construction and unusable during our entire stay. On the last day of our stay the website was updated to say the dock would not be opened until some unspecified time in July. SMFH! We are really sick and tired of paying for amenities only to arrive and find them unusable during our stay. Garden City Realty 2 stars, The condo 3, 4 if the dock had been available. Rounded up to 3 stars because of the condo and the location. Overall all we had a great family vacation and would stay in this area again. read more

We rented a condo in the Atalaya Towers, never been there before, but had used Garden City Realty for a previous stay. It was our family vacation, so we were really excited to relax and enjoy the beach and surroundings. As soon as we got to our room, we were welcomed by a toilet that would not flush and TV's that would not work!! Had to call maintenance before we even unpacked. That night as I went to fix dinner, I found that all 3 skillets were scratched and rusted(Teflon), and I could not use them. I also discovered that the stove only had 1 of 4 eyes working!! The condo was very dated, and not very clean, but we tried to make the best of it. The furniture was probably from the 1980's original decor. We could not get out of it when we sat on it. The carpet was very stained and not very clean, and the balcony furniture was stained and plastic chairs from Walmart! Then there was the bedroom door that wouldn't stay closed, or lock, and the loose floor tiles in the master bathroom. The rusted tub fixtures, that were original, and the stained shower stall. I called maintenance 3 or the 5 days we were there, and I just got exhausted being their inspector for the property!! After having the curtain rod over the large sliding glass doors come almost come out of the wall the night before we left, I had just had it !!! When I arrived home the next week, I called to express my disappointment, and was told by the Office manager that the homeowner had chosen not to update the unit, and all the Realty company could do it repairs! I filed a grievance with Capitol One, and got nowhere! The Realty company even stated that they went through after we left and repaired all the issues I complained about. It would have been great if they had done this before I rented it, and had a terrible vacation!!! Buyer beware, they have a NO REFUND for any reason policy, so no matter what is wrong or what happens, there is NO recourse. I won't be using Garden City Realty ever again. I would have given 4 stars however, after my second year of renting with GCR, first year blocks back from ocean , second years ocean front, I had to cut vacation short because of fireworks on the beach and my dog and I got 3 hours of sleep per night, which is minor compared to my dog breathing heavily and shaking. JUNE 6 NOT JULY 4!! Fireworks may not be controlled by GCR, however, I wrote the head broker, and hoped he would pass my concerns on to the county council. He has the pull ego via losing business, and perhaps the council would listen to him and enforce ordinance of no fireworks on beach. Reason for writing, he did not have the courtesy to respond. I wrote back, thanks for not responding, '"I presume , busy selling homes", stress on guests and pets do not matter. No response. For the record, none of county council members responded. One made an initial inquiry re where I lived. I presume being a non constituent did not warrant further response. Staff ag GCR were great, especially Pam, my initial contact. Re property rented, and condition. Last years house, clean, however, the two toilets were 1970s vintage, and on the low end. One has to almost sit on floor. If one is over weight , do not know how they will manage to get up. Likewise for cozy second year rental. Old beach house, great tongue and groove pine paneling. However, not as clean, and again, 2 million dol property and had 50 dol toilets. Decks were old, splinter got into my toe, still suffering. I guess I did not remove all of it. Place was to sleep 6 people. Ocean front porch, had two old, one broken rocking chairs, and one 4 dol plastic chair. Not a 4 dol table to put your coffee, cell phone, or laptop. 5k, A WEEK FOR THAT? NO MAS GENTS. CUT MY VACATION ONE DAY SHORT SO DOG WOULD NOT HAVE HEART ATTACK, OWNER OF CO. OBLIVIOUS TO MY CONCERNS. DID NOT ASK FOR REFUND. JUST ASKED THAT HE EXPRESS CONCERNS WITH COUNTY COUNCIL RE FIREWORKS ENFORCEMENT OR ABOLISHMENT , EVEN BETTER. I AM VOTING WITH FEET, WILL BE VACATIONING IN CIVILIZED EUROPE, NO FIREWORKS. DO NOT RENT FROM GARDEN CITY REALTY I recently spent a week with my family in Garden City and we rented a condo at the Beach House. Our condo was burglarized, and the person stole my wife's wedding and engagement rings along with wallets, cash, etc. This all happened within an hour and 45 minute time frame while we were at the beach (about 500 feet away from our condo). When the police arrived he informed us that burglaries have been almost weekly with Garden City Realty properties. He also pointed out that there was no debris on the ground by the door, and that a contractor more than likely has been copying keys. When I called Garden City, they denied that this was a weekly occurrence and that burglaries have ONLY happened 3 times in the past month or two. He also said that they do not advertise burglaries, and that they would be "discussing" whether to tell guests to lock up their items. Well, this isn't good enough for me, so this is a warning to everyone who rents from them to lock up your items because your place may be burglarized. On top of this, I asked him for a refund or discount and he told me there was nothing he could do. After informing him that we have a family that rents 9-10 condos and that his choice could cost his company thousands of dollars... he said he was aware and still denied any type of discount. So to recap, Garden City Realty is aware of burglaries and are not doing anything to warn guests that their places could be broken into. They are also a poor business and are willing to give up thousands of dollars in order to save a few dollars on their bottom line. Go through Dunes Realty, or do not rent in Garden City. read more

My family had to wait for 3hrs to get in to vacation house after being on the road for 10hrs. We arrived at 4pm when check in was supposed to be. The customer service sucked. No apology or reason why the delay. After going up to window several times they told us that place was not clean yet. I rented Cloud 9 in Garden City this past week, June 15- June 22nd 2019 for my families beach vacation, my 12 year olds birthday celebration and my 17 year olds High School graduation. We also planned it this week for the full moon on Monday the 17th and the Summer Solstice on the 21st. We've been going down to Garden city for ten years or more now. We rented this exact house three years ago and really had a good time except the AC went out and several dead roaches were on the floor when we arrived. This year we get there and there's a whole dredging operation /beach construction going on right behind the house and all along the beach to the south of us for a mile or more. Garden City Realty never mentioned this at all. There were 5 Caterpillar D6 and D7 bulldozers, two large Cat 966M wheel loaders up and down the beach pushing sand that was being sucked in from two alternating ships just off the coast 24 hours a day. That's all day and all night folks. Beeping and banging moving 4 foot in diameter x 50 foot long pipe here and there up and down the beach. Some lady asked how long they were going to be there, on the first day(Saturday) and they said two days. I was thinking, ok I can hold out for two days. That did not happen at all! They finished pumping sand in about three days, then they started moving all the equipment back up the beach behind our ocean front beach rental. It was back and forth the whole time. The guy on the loader was doing 30mph on the loader a few times, had to be. That's moving on a large peace of machinery, especially when you have people crossing the gauntlet of trucks and heavy equipment to get to the beach. The 4 foot pipe they were pushing sand and water through came out of the ocean two houses to the north of our rental and stretched all the way down the beach for a mile or more. You had to drag your beach gear up over a sand bridge to get to the beach and down a 2-3 foot drop to get to good sand. Not a huge inconvenience, but not what i was expecting at all. They built the pipeline while we were there and they disassembled the pipeline while we were there. We had one quiet afternoon on Friday at the beach with no machinery running or making noise to relax. "Every morning" before the sun came up, (the butt crack of dawn, mind you) we were jostled awake by loud noises and beeps from the front end loaders moving pipe or conex containers or generators etc...or the bulldozers shaking the whole house like an earth quake. The bulldozers shaking the house happened three mornings in a row. There's really too much to describe here. They had a trash dumpster, 5 dozers, two wheel loaders 4 conex container offices, tool sheds, generators running for AC 24/7, they had 3 or 4 generator light sets, one they kept on for 4 nights off our back deck, even during the full moon. Semi trucks, Half a dozen diesel pickup trucks coming and going all night and all day, along with the huge wheel loaders hauling pipe or moving equipment around. The beach was roped off in both directions, a huge diesel tank, welding supplies, a welder, a large water tank, pressure washer, construction workers wearing hard hats the whole time( did my family need hard hats?????) It was windy and they were putting a lot more dust and sand in the air than was normal. I couldn't see out of my truck windows they were so dirty. The AC wasn't working in the rental so I called Sunday around lunch time to get it fixed, it was 84 degrees in the house. I called back Monday after lunch and they said the guy just came out and put some coolant in the AC system. Never saw him and I waited 24 hours. The guy on the phone said the system was leaking coolant, all good but it only lasted a couple days. It was up to 80 degrees Thursday. I called back and they came out within an hour or two. Friday it was up there again, so I called "again". They came out and put coolant in once more. Saturday morning when we checked out it was 77 degrees in the house at 9:30 in the morning. It was rainy outside and cloudy, just FYI. Also the ceiling fan in the back left bedroom stopped working Wednesday or Thursday. I'm sure there's more i could describe here, much more. I've got pictures and videos. Garden City Realty give a me a 40% discount after I went a a few "nice" rounds with them on the price, but do not think it was enough for all the BS I had to deal with. The construction crew was out there 100% of the time while I was there Saturday through Friday morning. They were there working day and night. I didn't realize how quiet "it should have been" until Friday afternoon and Friday evening. Saturday morning early, after the storm, they were back at it again pulling up the remainder of the pipe that went out to the sea with the big Caterpillar wheel loaders. We made the best of it, as best we could. We only get one week a year to do a vacation like this. I told GCR I'd accept 50% off of what I paid. 40%, It should be even more, Not Happy! read more

The only thing redeeming about my experience with GCR was the beautiful South Carolina weather we had during our 4 night stay. However, this came after having received very poor customer service from the Director of Operations, Brad. I was driving from Indiana at the same time Hurricane Joaquin was coming and expected to bring catastrophic rain and floods to the state. When I phoned the day before we were to leave Indiana, I was told the only way I could get a refund was if the state governor called a State of Emergency. The next morning I saw on the news that the governor did in fact make this call. Upon calling GCR again to discuss my options for refund, I was told by someone different that the only way I could receive a refund was if there was a mandatory evacuation. This is when I then asked to speak to Brad, who was not at work yet. I was promised he would call when he arrived. He did not; so I called back. Brad was condescending and completely rude. He essentially talked down to me for not getting the travel insurance that was offered, which would have allowed me the full refund. I understand there are policies for cancelation deadlines and travel insurance, but I also understand there are times, like hurricanes and devastating rains, where exeptions could be made. More importantly, I understand the need to treat others with respect. He could have politely told me that his hands were tied, instead of raising his voice and being arrogant and rude. I would encourage GCR to put a better face on their operations, especially if this is who will be handling your customers. The only thing they did allow was for me to bump my reservation by a few days. So, we spent extra time and money in 4 different cities on our way to SC to wait out the rain and flooding. The condo itself was ok. It had a great view and the basics that were needed. The AC unit barely worked and the bathrooms could have been cleaner. All in all, there are numerous places to rent from when visiting this area. I would highly encourage you to steer clear of GCR and give someone else your business. read more

Dennis McElveen is not a nice guy and was rude. I wouldn't suggest renting from here just in case he shows up.

I am writing to all potential renters of Garden City Realty, A group of us friends planned a glorious Bachelor party at Myrtle Beach to celebrate the last few months of freedom for our dearest friend (R.I.P.) It was destined to be a magical trip until Hurricane Florence came along (ever heard of it?). Long story short, we were forced to cancel those plans and settle for a long weekend in Atlantic City (subpar). To throw salt in the wound, Garden City will not be giving us a full refund.
