We've been coming to Brooklyn Art for over thirty years. Dennis and his team have done excellent…read morework for us including framing very old family documents, many dating from the mid 1800s. The selection of frames is extensive, the service is kind, considerate and gracious. Why go anywhere else?

As a comedian I almost NEVER give a 5 star review bc they're not as much fun 2 write as those 1 & 2…read morestar disasters - but if I could give Dennis over at Brooklyn Art a 10 star 5 star review I would. Actually if Jesus returned and said, "Hey maybe no full time carpenter this time around, maybe I'll take it easy and just frame art" - then that's who'd Dennis would be bc that's the qualitative level of his work. And what's better is he prices his work like CRAZY EDDIE - his prices are just INSANE - it's almost like getting it done for FREE! I had 5 copies of an 8x10 that I wanted to frame and give as gifts. I live in Red Hook so I went to the closest - "Make a Frame" over on Atlantic Avenue in Cobble hill - who priced me at $174.00 for just one - and no discount on five!!! At those prices maybe they do have Jesus framing, but some how I doubt it. So searched Yelp again and found Brooklyn Art who priced me at $20.00 each!!!! INSANE! Why would I pay $154.00 more - on each one! - over at M.A.F.? I doubt there would've been that much of a qualitative difference noticeable to the eye. Just take a look at the pic I've attached - a beautiful job! I got all 5 done for $100. Great quality and turn around was just as insane. Dennis had done in just a few days. I'm sure Van Gogh would give his left ear, if he still had it, to have his works framed at Brooklyn Art - and you should too, but Dennis only takes cash & credit cards so the good news is you can walk out with both your ears, however if you go to that place on Atlantic avenue it could cost you and arm and leg - HEY OH!

My experience with ETG was peculiar. After realizing that I sure as hell can't afford Express and…read moreBanana Republic, and wanting to up my clothing game a little (paring down to basics), I went to arguably the most popular thrift store on Staten Island. Upon arrival, wife and baby in tow, they asked me to please leave my beverage at the desk, not politely, but not necessarily rudely. Aloof, I suppose. Sure. Then they also asked to leave my diaper bag. Eh, uh, okay. Immediately put off. What if my baby needs a bottle? I gotta go all the way back to the front? Little did I know that there was only one floor available, so my annoyance was relatively unjustified. But still, coulda been nicer. In the store itself, it is very well curated, organized far better than the Salvation Army I struggled to search through. The men's section was bustling with good deals for vests, suit pants, and basic button downs. They also had a variety of athletic jerseys, swim trunks, and ties (which I found relatively overpriced). Side story: midway, I struck a conversation with the same aloof cashier previously mentioned, and she turned out to be very kind and funny. So, there's that. There was also a very nice young lady stocking in the aisles. The outcome was small, but great: a button down for less than three dollars, and these perfectly fitting shorts for less than seven. From, yeah, Banana Republic. The icing on the cake that really sells this place is their flyer in the front that showcases other thrift stores on the island you might not have known about. Stop here first and foremost, try not to spend all your money, and peruse the other shops!

Was just there a few days ago & I found only a few items. There weren't many great options for women in my opinion, so hopefully they get some better clothing donations soon. Some items may be marked down depending on the color tag they have, and the staff is super cheerful!
