Formerly Sweetwater Dental, Dr. Healey has remained with the practice after their merger / take…read moreover by Trident. Some of the support staff appears to have changed. It's a small practice in an old house; quaint and small hometown feel. Dr. Healey appears to be knowledgeable and do good work, as do the hygienists who perform the cleanings. So far everyone I've had has been gentle on my guns, which is more than I can say for my last place (the hygienist there was particularly rough). He doesn't try to up-sell you on things you don't need like other places I've been to. They're ready for you when your scheduled time comes; don't make you wait like most doctor's offices seem to do. They handle insurance filing for you too. The only negative is the price gouging I've recently seen on the Rx toothpaste they sell. It's helpful for those who have the bacteria that causes cavities. When I first went I paid about $15 for a 4 oz tube, next time it was $18 for same tube, but now they charge $20. While that doesn't sound too bad, they switched brands and the new tube is 1.8 oz. So less than half the toothpaste at an increased price. What's up Doc?

This is truly a family and community-focused practice. The dentist, hygienists, and staff truly…read morecare about the personal side of their patients. I have friends that dread going to the dentist. I have heard all the horror stories, yet I love going to my dentist. This is a place filled with courtesy love and structure. Yes, structure. I know how much I owe and my insurance owes before I walk out of the office. There are no surprises. I get my reminders by phone and text and they are ready for me when I walk in the door. The staff is honest and not pushing about my options. This is truly one of the best dental practices I have ever been fortunate enough to be a part of.

She is a quiet, soft-spoken and has an unnerving presence about her ... so when those difficult procedures arise needing sedation to numb your jaw ... she handles it with ease. Her staff are wonderful and help out with everything from appointments and insurance to arranging reasonable payment schedules for more expensive procedures. Appointment reminders are always done in a timely manner. Anytime I've had a dental emergency arise ... and there have been a few ... they have worked me in quickly and taken care of the problem. Nothing is worse than tooth pain ... and not being able to get timely relief. With great pleasure, I can recommend her wholeheartedly. Do yourself a huge favor and call them soon. Thank you. I was scared to death of the dentist, but after seeing Dr. Fogle, and how calming and gentle she was, I began to love going. I went from feeling overwhelmed about my dental work, to being educated and confident about what to do at home, to take care of my smile. They spent time with me. That meant so much to us. They were overly accomodating to my needs. Mrs. Karen even watched my little boy when I needed an emergency root canal, and kept him entertained when I was in the back with Dr. Fogle. As soon as they saw us coming in, we were greeted with open arms and warm smiles. I never felt rushed, or bothersome to them. She sat with me, and explained every detail of my care. She requests follow up appointments to see how the healing process is going. Mrs. Karen would call me at home to see how I was feeling after a tooth extraction. My son was given thorough cleanings and exams here. He STILL asks when we are going to see Mrs. Karen and Dr. Fogle again. I cried when I moved away...with good reason. I would NEVER find a more caring, honest, and loving Dentist ANYWHERE else. I cannot reccomend these people enough. This office in one in a million.

Front desk is amazing, answered all my questions and explained my coverage vs out of pocket expenses. The office is clean and comfortable. Steer clear! If "0"…read morewas an option on the rating scale, Smile Generation's Dentists of West Ashley would receive a "0"! My husband and I were each treated rudely and aggressively by a member of the staff on 2 separate occasions. When I complained to the parent company, Smile Generation, I was ignored by 4 different representatives. In our opinion and personal experience, this company has no interest in or regard for its patients. Dentists of West Ashley is a relatively new office. My husband and I both received the introductory $59 cleaning and X-rays. The staff was pleasant and friendly. Its original dentist was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. When I needed a crown after my filling fell out, he provided it skillfully. As a result, my husband scheduled his next cleaning. When we arrived, the office manager told him the cleaning technician was ill, and that she had called and texted my husband several times early that morning to inform him. He looked at his phone - there were no calls or texts from the practice or her. She argued with him. She asked that he reschedule. We have no car, and had taken the bus to the office, so we were expected to turn around and get back on the bus to go home. In addition, the weather was terrible that day. We weren't happy. Our original dentist had already been transferred out of the practice so the new dentist volunteered to provide the cleaning since we were already at the office. My husband was very unhappy with the cleaning, so unhappy that he scheduled a cleaning with a different practice soon after. We understand the new dentist who provided this inadequate cleaning has already been released. After the cleaning, the office manager told my husband he would be required to pay the full amount. He balked. Not only was he never informed that the tech was unavailable, he was stuck with a bad cleaning. In addition, she presented the charges as soon as he walked in, which included full X-rays - he already had them in the $59 special! She also expected him to pay for the dentist consult. She finally adjusted the charges, deducting the X-ray charges and the consult fee, and reducing the cleaning fee. Dealing with her was not pleasant - my husband uses harsher words! Days later, when he received an online survey about the service, he gave a bad review of the below-par cleaning, the office manager's attitude and the fact that he received no prior notice that the tech was unavailable and, therefore, had no opportunity to reschedule. Moving now to my own unfortunate interaction with the office manager . . . After my husband's awful experience, we decided not to use Dentists of West Ashley again. We ran into the cleaning technician who told us that the new dentist was already gone, replaced by yet another dentist who he felt was really well qualified. The office manager was still at the practice. I recently had a root canal and now need a crown. Crowns are expensive so I obtained quotes from several practices. My original crown at Dentists of West Ashley had cost less than the quotes I just received, so I called the cleaning tech for an office update. He said the office manager was still employed, and that she was the only person who could provide a quote. I called Dentists of West Ashley for a quote. I did not identify myself. I just wanted the price to compare. Big mistake. I asked the office manager for a quote. She put me on hold. When she came back, she informed me we needed to talk about 'the last experience'. She brought it up. She proceeded to justify her behavior on the day of my husband's cleaning. I was in the room during their conversations so I stopped her to remind her what actually happened that day. Our discussion became heated. She referred to the bad review. I told her I wanted to speak with the doctor for a quote. She said the doctor does not give quotes. She never gave me a quote, and finally threatened me by telling me our call had been recorded. I said, "GOOD!" I called the parent company, Smile Generation. I called 4 times and spoke to 4 different reps about the clash I had with the office manager. I asked for a callback from a supervisor each time. I received no response to any of my calls. The last rep told me the number I called was the billing department, so I asked her to file a complaint about the office manager. I also told her, if I did not receive a callback in 5 days, I would write a review. The 5 days have passed. No callback. And obviously no interest at all in speaking to me about an office manager who just cost them over $1,000, as well the future business of two former patients. Has this office manager been contacted by the parent company? Has management spoken to her about her behavior in attacking me over her past behavior? Not only does staff change often at Smile Generation/Dentists of West Ashley, but, in our experience, the company does not regard the patients it serves. Steer clear!
