If you are looking for a hotel in Brussels next to Midi Train Station, then the Hotel Mercure…read moreBrussels Centre Midi should be on your checklist. I love this hotel. This is my third time here and I love the location because it is a seven-minute walk to the train station. The hotel has had quite a lot of construction in front of it for years now, but don't let that deter you because the hotel has so many positive aspects. The hotel has large rooms and great air-conditioning for the heat of summer. The rooms also have small fridges to keep drinks cold. I appreciate that the rooms are quiet, so you can really unwind after a long day. There is a nice fitness center, but my favorite aspect of the hotel is the wellness area. They have a jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna to keep you relaxed and energized. The breakfast was delicious and the staff are attentive. I love staying here and even though some people have reported the area is not so attractive, I would argue that it is perfectly fine. I'll definitely keep coming back whenever I pass through Brussels.

In addition, the hotel was plagued with constant sirens all night and its thin walls make it difficult to sleep. Further, they lack simple amenities such as bottled water, having provided only one bottle of water the first night and only for one person, no tissue box and no top sheet on the bed.

I'm probably not saying anything that hasn't already been covered, but the reputation as the…read moreworld's best beer bar is absolutely deserved. There's a Dutch word "gezellig" which loosely translates to cozy, and it perfectly describes the interior and the vibe. The clientele is: local Flemish, and super-annoying Americans (present company excluded). And it's only open on Sundays. We got: * A Drie Fonteinen geuze that was my favorite of the lot * A Vanmol Vuur "Raw Ale" which my wife said was one of her favorites of all time * a vintage Boon Oude Geuze The owner has to go fetch every bottle from the cellar; his mother helps him at the bar. 100% Worth the hassle.

You can catch a bus in Brussels (if it stops for you) or catch an Uber. Getting home, the bus is likely your best option! Just make sure you stay in town for a Sunday, the only day this quaint spot is open. And get there early! There will likely be a bit of a line. The bar is run by a few generations of a family and they are SO friendly. They also take care of their locals in the midst of the craziness of the out-of-town visitors. You don't feel out of place while enjoying some of the best lambics you will ever find. We will always try and be in Brussels on a Sunday for every visit.

Floris Ustel Midi Hotel (from here on, 'Ustel'). A place that brings me very mixed feelings!…read more Decent stay, here are my Pros: - Ustel is very close to Brussels Midi station (the station you get off EuroStar). A brief 10 minute walk and you will be there. Decently convenient which is great especially if you got off the train quite late. - Breakfast is included in all packages, and - Wifi is of course a standard. - Price is decently reasonable - The room I was given was gigantic (King Family room with King Bed) - 24 Hr Check in available - Sufficient Heating However; here are a few brief Cons: - The location is convenient; but at night, it felt dangerous, and very dark - It is close to train station, however a good 20-30minute walk from Brussels tourist central area - Breakfast cannot be more simple; there's some cereal and pastries; don't expect too much so you won't be disappointed - The place is a little run down - One of my nights, there were unstable hot water - Only 2 English Channels on TV - Not much around besides a few pubs Will I come back to stay? Certainly! If this is a review site for just budget hotels, they will get my 5 stars!

Both times I stayed here there were mixups with our reservations, and confusion when we asked for the bill on checkout. One time we were put in a room next to the elevator shaft, which was quite noisy during the night. The night staff didn't speak any English.
