The gorgeous station was redesigned by Spanish architect and structural engineer Santiago Calatrava in 2009. There are nine tracks and five platforms. There is a Liège Tourism Office, Starbucks, and train ticket office located at this station. The station is serviced by both high-speed trains and locals trains. Your B ticket will allow you to transfer to the local train to St. Lambert station in the city center. They where working in the rails the day I was in Liège. You can catch buses #1 or #4 to St. Lambert (city center.) I simply showed my B train ticket to the bus driver who gave me a pass indicating the train line was inoperative. Usually, the bus ride is €2.

First thing we noticed were the multiple levels of tracks built under the steel and glass canopy of the station. As others have pointed out what an amazing engineering design and operational efficiency! The beautiful interior of the station that greeted everyone upon arrival was quite the photo spot. Personally I preferred the departure side which was just as ornate but with significantly less people. Outside, a huge Ferris wheel was installed and blocked photos of the station exterior. Inside expect to find Starbucks and other fast or convenience food options, WCs and ticket office. It was easy just to walk from the station to the historic part of Antwerp through the diamond district or take public transportation. Well worth a visit even if not taking a train anywhere.

This station is very moderate in size making it easy to navigate and easy to use in general. The…read morelocation is decently convenient though many of the sites of interest in Aachen are scattered throughout the city. Built in the Art Nouveau style and opened in 1905, the facade of the facility is rather nice in appearance. With seven platforms, it is quite user friendly. The amenities are fairly limited compared to larger stations but there are at least a couple of quick food and retail choices. The route options are impressive for the size of the station as there are trains that can be taken to Pairs, Brussels, Berlin and other prominent cities of interest.

Central station for the city of Köln (Cologne), it is one of the busiest rail stations in Germany…read more It is quite large and I got to explore it a bit today thanks to a delay by the wonderful folks at Deutsche Bahn. My tip to you is that if you do have an extended layover here, use the luggage storage for your suitcases and step outside. You'll find the tremendous Kölner Dom that is worth photographing and touring. I did not have THAT much time so it was pictures only today. The train station has coffee (including Starbucks, yuck), pastries, lots of restaurants, restrooms, a waiting lounge if your train ticket includes that service, car rentals, ATMs and yes, the Ibis hotel. From here you can go to anywhere in the Netherlands, sometimes as far north as the trains go, without exiting the train. Did you know that this is actually the longest train platform in the Netherlands? With a platform length of 700 meters (2,300 feet). This makes it the longest railway platform in the Netherlands and one of the longest in Europe. The long platform is necessary to accommodate the long-distance trains that stop at the station, as well as the frequent local traffic. This is a smaller station but packed with features. A nice bike parking facility, a huge bus platform out front (since there are no trams in Sittard), an Albert Heijn, kapsalon (barber), a Doner food place and a Kiosk. From this station you can walk anywhere in the Centrum, even to the big Market square in minutes. Nicely lighted, great design too.

Aside from that, I had someone with me, who could speak French. The machines were there, so. Was able to purchase a ticket but nobody took it onboard the train, so it turned out to be for naught. Nonetheless, this was a large station with multiple shops and was extremely neat, I was pleasantly surprised. This station seemed to have local and trains to take you to other European countries.

I'm sort of used to airports and expect chaos, although it does not need to feel that way. We were here in Brussels just for the day so we did not have luggage which made it much easier. Every employee was helpful in navigating me through the new routes to my train. Plenty of cafes to choose a good coffee. Eurostar was a delayed disater but not the fault of the train station.

If you walk down the stairs, they are behind the stairs. There is no small size. The middle size is only good for a backpacks. For carry on size luggage, you need at least a L size, which is 9 euro for L size. There are bigger sizes, which will cost more. The instructions are clearly stated in the locker room. No staff are there to help you. Credit card is accepted.

The station itself could do with a little spring cleaning and an upgrade on the food offerings. I was alarmed to see FOUR soldiers in full gear all with semi-automatic rifles at the ready this morning at 11am (Sunday) - see pic - Yikes! Review 5 2019
