I saw signs in the lobby that they are planning a renovation soon, so maybe things will get better. When I checked in there were signs everywhere that said that there would be a $250 fee for smoking in the rooms. The first room I checked into obviously didn't pay attention to that because it was super smoky smelling and then also the solution that they use to make the room not smell like smoke anymore was strong. The sweet front desk employee let me change rooms. My second room was dingy and dated, but didn't smell like smoke. The curtains were broken and the air conditioner barely blew air out. Maybe because it's Southeast Texas, but everything just felt damp. I thought the breakfast was pretty decent, and the breakfast host was really friendly and nice. I had a couple of premade omelettes, some cinnamon roll and yogurt. They were all decent and better than you might expect. The hotel also had a machine that you could make your own pancakes, but I didn't do that.

The trash can in the room by the desk had a liner thrown in it but when I reached in to put the liner on, there was a slimy green on the bag and in the bottom of the trash can - GROSS! The beds were lumpy and hard, the carpet had bad stains, the mirrors were dirty. The "complimentary breakfast" had bagels but nothing to put on them, very sparse everything. The room had a musty, stinky smell.

I quickly checked in and got my wife and newborn through a side entrance on the left of the building quickly got to our room. This experience was underwhelming but after 17hrs on the road we just wanted sleep... We all laid down but the smell just grew in our room and I looked online to see if others had experienced while staying here and other guests previously 4week prior had complained about this smell. Still thought it was strange my throat started bugging me and I just made a Saftey decision to leave the property. I informed my booking agent as well as Hayley at the front desk... she informed me that she is not surprised to the neglect on the property because she had been getting phone calls about the (hotel not paying bills) Previous staff have had a lot to say about the care of this facility within the past year and it's absolutely disgusting! After speaking with the booking agent I checked out at 3:15am and they refused to refund me my stay for only being on the property for 2.5 hours.. I am simply discusted that anyone could have a lack of human welfare at a facility that you are susposed to feel safe to sleep with your loved ones. Even the fire department admitted that there gas alarm goes off multiple times a day including the night of my stay and when they call the management says everything is fine. Wether this is natural gas, sewage, or something else it has surpassed a level of disregard and shows the lack of effort from the owner not only for the safety of your staff but the safety of your guests. I would love to see the owner sit at the desk for 4-8hrs and look me in the face and tell me it's perfectly okay to breath that shit in! As many have said do waste your time staying here between the know black mold issues, lack of hot water, inset infestation and lack of humanity you are better off staying at a motel 6 or sleeping in your car! As a business owner myself I would be taken to my knees if a customer ever remotely had any issues like this. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. But It is difficult and hazardous to get to property headed south. U turn required in fast traffic. Everything inside the hotel has been painted gray. No other color in halls or rooms. Drab and dormitory like. They have a bar and restaurant. We got brisket sliders and sweet potato fries. Mediocre, reheated food. They do not have complimentary breakfast foods, just coffee. My mistake booking this place. I assumed that because it had been a Hampton Inn that it would be similar. I paid Hampton Inn price for an inferior experience.
