She took time with us and tried to help with my handicapped father and was very patient and concerned that we find the right fit for us and him. She was always responsive to us, even over the Fourth of July weekend when we found our dream home. She contacted the seller's realtor to understand what the seller was looking for and advised us to put a specific offer on the house that would be tough to beat, especially considering there were already three offers on the house. Within 48 hours of finding our dream home, we were on contract. Jeni was also essential to us selling our house. We weren't planning on buying our dream house so the house we were living in wasn't prepared to be put on the market. It was really hard for us to decide on moving forward with this home because there was a really gross cat closet in the home that just turned us off. Eventually, we moved forward and after the inspector came in, Maria negotiated 3 items to be fixed before we would purchase the home. One of these items, naturally, was for the sellers to deep clean the 'cat pee closet' so it wouldn't stink anymore. We were told the final walk-through would be done up to 5 days prior to settlement to make sure the items in question are fixed. Settlement was May 9th. On April 22nd we emailed Maria, "How are the inspection items progressing?" Maria wrote "I plan to check in with the listing agent next week regarding the receipts as the sellers have until the final walk through to have the repair items completed. I'll be sure to keep you posted." We were confident that Maria was taking the necessary steps to make sure the items were completed. The morning of May 9th, settlement day, I emailed Maria to ask her for the sqft of the carpet in the home or the dimensions of the rooms so I could schedule carpet cleaners. She wrote back with, "Unfortunately I don't know the carpet square footage or have specific floor plans with the dimensions for the home. On the positive side, the seller had the carpets professionally cleaned prior to leaving, so you may want to check it out this afternoon before making any specific plans." At the same time, Ben sent an email with the invoice, "Please see below for some final notes from the listing agent and attached for the home inspection receipts......." *final notes from seller: "Hey Ben -See attached invoices for the home inspection items..... my client got the property professionally cleaned as well..... " In response to Maria's email (that she didn't have dimensions of the bedrooms/livingroom), I wrote: "No problem! I'll just measure it when we get there.....I did see the invoice and all the carpets weren't cleaned.....I actually thought it was kind of funny that their agent said the property was professionally cleaned, when the invoice says it was only half the carpets and inside the oven ;) lol ..... the hallway closet was not in the invoice - which was the only thing we asked to be deep cleaned. It had better be cleaned and not just febreezed!! :) " Maria Responded with: "Understood, Jocelyn. I expect that the whole property was professionally cleaned (included the hallways, staircases, kitchen living area, etc) and that the standard form just didn't have a place to state those areas. With that said, you'll have a chance to check it out shortly. ;) Keep me posted!" Soooo... since she didn't care to take my concern into serious consideration, I did it myself and called the cleaning company to confirm what EXACTLY was cleaned. The cleaning invoice said: Bathrooms: Bedrooms, Living Room; Cleaning Carpets Dining Room and Basement: Kitchen Inside Oven Total Bill: $60.00 After calling the cleaning company, I wrote Maria: "I just got off the phone with [company name].,,,,,,It was JUST the Master Bedroom carpet and inside the oven. Nothing else in the home was cleaned.... She said she was told they only wanted the Master bedroom carpets cleaned so that's all she did..." (I specifically asked about the hallway closet and the cleaning company said "No, just the Master Bedrooms carpet was requested to be cleaned, so that's all we did.") Maria wrote back with ",I just left a VM for the listing agent to get clarification on the hallway closet.I'll let you know if I hear anything prior to the final walk through." We didn't hear from Maria. Ben met us for the walk-through and the cat closet REEKED of pee... STILL! He 'texted' our concern to Maria. We left to eat and 1hr later met Ben for settlement. He didn't revisit our concerns nor did we hear from Maria or anyone at Valentino about enforcing the contracted items. We were just told to sign. We got home and I emailed Maria directly. She responded with, "I'm so sorry, Jocelyn. The listing agent had written back (much later) the carpet in the hallway closet had been cleaned. Unfortunately once going to settlement, we really don't have a leg to stand on if we were to go back to the sellers regarding this item. With that said, let me know if I can assist in anyway. I hope everything else went smooth and successful today & your happy with your new home" I was shocked. It was like a slap in the face. Basically... "Meh, tough love, Jocelyn! Have fun with the cat closet!!" Maria did send me a link to ahome remedy to get DOG pee out? First, that's 'dog', and second, if I wanted to clean that closet myself (I'm pregnant) then we wouldn't have negotiated the sellers to do it!!!! So now, I'm 8.5mo pregnant using CHEMICALS to clean that closet myself. Thanks!

While the home-buying process itself was smooth, our move-out experience was the complete opposite. As a family with young children, we were repeatedly questioned and made to feel uncomfortable over normal wear and tear......things like minor drywall nicks that are expected in any home with kids. These were already being addressed on our end with a contractor, as we had communicated. Despite agreeing to cover repairs and forfeit a $3,000 deposit, we were met with unnecessary comments and a level of aggression that felt unprofessional and unwarranted. It was especially disappointing given that we chose to work with her over many other options, expecting a level of trust and respect in return. We believe in accountability and were fully willing to take care of any legitimate damages....but respect and professionalism should go both ways. Based on this experience, we would not recommend doing business with Jin.
