She was helpful and on top of everything. It was great to have open communication and lots of access for their questions and concerns. Every time they had questions, she was responsive and available. Her knowledge about the market and the selling process was valuable and informative. Given all of the steps of selling, Jin stayed so involved and had good relationships with other service providers as well, like cleaners and movers. She was present for the walk-through and settlement with my family, and she attended every meeting with the new home builders. That kind of presence and hands-on involvement was so important and something that can't be taken for granted, because other agents do not have that level of care. For any future inquiries, my family is happy to recommend her services.

While the home-buying process itself was smooth, our move-out experience was the complete opposite. As a family with young children, we were repeatedly questioned and made to feel uncomfortable over normal wear and tear......things like minor drywall nicks that are expected in any home with kids. These were already being addressed on our end with a contractor, as we had communicated. Despite agreeing to cover repairs and forfeit a $3,000 deposit, we were met with unnecessary comments and a level of aggression that felt unprofessional and unwarranted. It was especially disappointing given that we chose to work with her over many other options, expecting a level of trust and respect in return. We believe in accountability and were fully willing to take care of any legitimate damages....but respect and professionalism should go both ways. Based on this experience, we would not recommend doing business with Jin.

We worked with Angie for a number of years to find our single family home in our same neighborhood, where the inventory is notoriously low and houses sell fast with multiple bids. It took some time only because we were not in a situation in which we had to move into a new house right away so we were picky. We never felt that Angie tried to pressure us into making a decision or moving forward before we were comfortable. We previewed a lot of houses and Angie would respond quickly to our requests for setting up viewing appointments. She was always on time or got in touch with us if the schedule changed, which we appreciated given our busy schedules. She was also very kind and entertaining to our small children, who were always with us during the viewings; in fact, Angie would often take them to different parts of the houses so we had time to thoroughly view the property. Whenever we had a question about a property, Angie would promptly contact the listing agent and get us an answer. Sometimes she would call the listing agents when we were present, and we noticed she had a knack for asking direct, yet professional questions that resulted in insightful information for us. When we put a bid on one house, Angie proactively reached out to us to address all our questions and walk us through the paperwork. We were not first-time homebuyers, but she still made sure we understood all the nuances. When it became clear that there would be multiple bids on this house, Angie frequently contacted the listing agent to try to get updates and advocate for us. Although we ended up being out-bidded, we felt that Angie fully represented our best interests. She was also good at keeping our spirits high after we lost the bid and helped us to remain confident that something better would be on the horizon. She helped to link us up with a lender who did a lot of the pre-processing of our loan paperwork, resulting in us being more attractive and competitive buyers compared to those who just had a standard pre-approval letter. While viewing one home we happened to look out the window and see a for sale sign in the yard of another property, which we learned had just gone on the market. Angie helped us to quickly secure a viewing appointment and we all knew it was a house that would be on the top of our list. Angie again contacted the listing agent to help us get additional background on the house and helped us to think about a price to consider for the offer. We went back to view this property a second time during the open house--and Angie took the time to meet us again--and we knew from the foot traffic that this house would have multiple bidders and go fast. Angie quickly drew up the paperwork, helped us to get a solid package submitted right away, and continued to advocate with the listing agent. We came to learn there were more than a dozen bids on this house, and although we didn't have the highest bid we ended up signing a contract! It was a huge relief after the long journey, and Angie helped us to make it happen. About a month or so after this process, COVID-19 started to emerge in the spring and obviously created a lot of stress and unknowns for everyone. Angie helped us to navigate the inspection and closing process, always advocating for safe practices when possible. Again, she was a very strong advocate for us when some complicated legal issues emerged with the title paperwork. In the early days of the pandemic we didn't know how we were going to physically do the closing process because the title company implemented strict protocols about who could enter their building. With both parents having to attend the closing in person, we were stressed about childcare because there were few options at the time. Angie very kindly offered to watch our kids at the new house during the closing. It was such a genuine offer, and we are so thankful for her compassion and support. Everything with the final inspection and closing went off without any problems. Since we moved into the new house, Angie has been great about keeping in touch. In fact, we often contact her for help in identifying contractors or other service providers. When a leak sprung in our new house on move-in day, we tried to contact several plumbers for emergency service. Because of COVID, however, we couldn't find anyone to come to the house right away. We called Angie, who gave us a name of a plumber who came by within the hour and saved us a lot of potential damage. She has added a lot of nice personal touches, like giving us a new home welcoming gift and bringing by flowers for Mother's Day. We highly recommend Angie for your real estate needs. She will take care of you.

Jean's team developed a plan to give us the best possible chance of success. She also advised us to use an aggressive pricing strategy to increase interest. All of her decisions created a best-case scenario for us. We were thrilled to have multiple competitive offers well above our asking price to choose from. After accepting a great offer, we were then so impressed with the communication and efficiency of the team during the closing process. Trusting her strategy was one of the best decisions we've ever made. We can not recommend The Garrell Group enough!

This is not a fake review. Check out my account and you will see that I have been on Yelp for…read morealmost two years. You will see further that I have never reviewed anything until today. I come to Yelp occasionally to lurk, and that is about it. I have never reviewed anything because, whether good or not, the products and services that I have received have never caused such high emotional amplitude in me that I felt compelled to write public reviews about them. That changed two days ago, on October 6, 2014-- the day that I closed on my first home. As a result of working with The Garrell Group I have learned that Realtors don't just find homes and sell them for people. Good Realtors shape the home-buying/home-selling process and then shepherd it to its final conclusion. They are the ultimate conductors of the thing, and they work exceptionally hard to earn their pay. Mark and Jean Garrell are good Realtors. They are consummate pros who respect their clients and their profession. In short, they are The Real Deal, and I do not think you can find better Realtors anywhere. As I look back on my first contact with them I see nothing but a long chain of personal growth. From the very beginning of our home search, The Garrells skillfully educated me and patiently worked with me as we narrowed in on a house. I cannot stress how accommodating, how kind, and honorable these people are. The fact is, I did not just want a house. I had quite a few definite parameters, and yet once these parameters were established, they became the parameters that Mark and Jean insisted upon whenever we looked at a prospective house. They showed me what to look for in a house, what is really important, and what is not. We looked at a wide variety of homes, spread all across Northern Virginia. At every point they helped us see how each home stacked up to the market. But once we nailed down the right house, then the hard work began. From the moment we made the offer on our house to the day of our closing, The Garrells were there by our side. They worked with our mortgage broker to ensure that we would not be blindsided with negative surprises (I stress this most powerfully. Make sure the broker and Realtor are honorable and that they are working together for you). The Garrells arranged and then conducted us through inspections, managed our contingencies, and helped us negotiate an incredible stream of favorable terms. It was shocking to see it unfold before us, especially since I have so often heard horror stories of unresponsive agents who have permitted deals to come crashing down due to incompetence. That just never happened with us because Jean was constantly on top of the project. She artfully worked us through the entire thing, and then, as I sat at the table on closing day, she and Mark were both right there at my right hand. I only write this review because I enjoy experiencing the work of highly competent people, and want my experience to be enjoyed by as many others as possible. We all work hard for our money. The Garrells respect this and you see it in everything they do. As a result, I will personally never so much as think of using a Realtor other than those at The Garrell Group. They are so responsive, and work so hard to take care of you, that you would just be shooting yourself in the foot to deal with anyone else.

Dawn was recommended because my wife and I were a little indecisive and could not decide between Virginia and Maryland. Since she's licensed in both Virginia and Maryland, she was able to show us houses in both states; she must have shown us 50 houses. Once we found our home, Dawn guided us through the entire process from bidding through closing. Dawn patiently explained every form we signed and every step and every option we had until we closed on the house. We could not have asked for a better teacher than Dawn for our first home buying experience. Later, we finally were ready to move up to a bigger home and Dawn again came through for us. We found a house we liked and asked Dawn to help us buy it. Offers were required quickly and Dawn immediately found us a mortgage specialist who could get us a pre-approval letter for the offer. We had a weekend and Dawn was able to put together the winning offer on the house that weekend. After we moved, it was time to sell our old townhouse and we were blown away with Dawn's expertise in selling. We hadn't updated the house at all and we were behind on maintenance, but Dawn helped us put together a plan to get the best price for our house. She created a list of improvements we could do that were cost effective; picking out all the furnishing and fixtures to maximize our selling price. She found a general contractor to do all the updates and kept us abreast of their progress. She also guided us through Compass Concierge so we didn't have to pay immediately for any of the improvements. After construction was done, she helped us find cleaners to clean the house and a staging company to stage the house. The house was completely unrecognizable; it looked like something out of HGTV. We sold within a weekend, 25K over our asking price. We were so pleased that we also recommended her to my parents to sell my grandfather's house. She worked her magic and transformed the stale 1980's interior into a modern interior. There was a bidding war and my grandfather's house sold for 90K over asking. My aunts and mom cannot stop raving about her. Whether buying or selling a house, I cannot recommend Dawn more.
