It was a a big job to transform our bleak backyard into a driveway we can park our car on and have a visually pleasing yard. Gary Krause came to my home to work on my irrigation system. He was incredibly unpleasant and condescending, visibly angry that my system was not up to his standards. He hated the design, hated the water source (TID), hated the filters, even threw them on the ground. He did nothing to address my leaks or valve issues and said that they would be hundreds if not thousands of dollars to fix. He did not help me one bit, but then charged me $65 to verbally abuse me. I paid him just to make him leave. I asked for the money back later, but he did not respond. I called another firm and they came over and easily fixed the problems within a few hours, at an entirely reasonable price. They were kind, professional, and fast. Gary Krause should have his license revoked - I have heard of numerous people in Ashland with the same experience. read more

I am extremely happy with Gary's service and impressed with his knowledge. He installed an updated and efficient sprinkler system and made suggestions as to how to improve the quality of my yard. I only hired him to replace my sprinkler system, but he made suggestions as to how to improve my yard. I followed up on his advice and my place looks beautiful. Due to my sprinkler system by more logical than myself at times, it adapts to seasonal differences, so I thought I had accidentally messed up the programming. Sadly, we had a similar poor experience as others have described. We did not object to paying $75 for a site visit as well as project design and quote, however we also received a satellite picture of our home and the proposal lacked basic information needed to make an informed decision. The quote was over $60k for the first phase and another $60 (or more for the second phase). When we suggested changes to lower the costs we endured 30 minutes of negative rhetoric cautioning that the approach we suggested was crazy. Then, when we explained we need to explore other solutions to lower costs in the less important areas so that we could invest more in the more important areas - he quickly changed his tune. He verbally said the price for our overall project would be $30 to 40K less that his original quote due to our design change but when I documented the solutions Gary had agreed to verbally (because he did not) and asked him to confirm his process and pricing he responded that he was unwilling to document his process, pricing and other deliverables and he informed us that the price would now significantly increase. He talks (a lot) but does not listen I am sorry we wasted our time but glad we did not move forward because I am certain this would have been a disaster. read more

Gary charged me $65 for coming to look at what I needed to do and did not give me an itemized list of what he would do for the 5-10K he said it would cost me to make the area what I wanted. Since then I have had work done and no way would it come to that much unless I did a complete remodel, which is not what I wanted. I had the same issue with Gary Krause that the previous reviewer described. I was charged $65 for what I understood to be an estimate which included a project plan. The plan turned out to be a satellite view of our property with lines drawn in to show the borders that I had described. He offered nothing new. During our conversation he estimated that the project would cost about $15,000 but his written estimate was nearly $30,000 with no descriptions or explanation of costs. In addition, his attitude was condescending and he monopolized the conversation so that I was not surprised when he included fake grass in the design though I had made it clear that I did want fake grass. I do not understand how he justifies his high cost for what basically is just an overpriced estimate of services. read more
