After having Action Irrigation come out to do repairs and replace a timer earlier in the year they…read more"finished" the job and left the pipes exposed. I had to cover them with a brick. They billed $1100 and overcharged ($500) for a timer and three solenoids after having a long conversation about not using an expensive timer. A simple Google search revealed the parts should have cost $200 at most. When called back out to repair a leak on the exposed pipes they dug this hole and said they couldn't do the repair today. They claimed that the damage was done by the landscaper which happened to be me. They gave me no time for scheduling on the repair and left the hole as is. The next day when I called to ask when they would be coming back the owner told me "soon." I pressed the matter and got "next week" after being talked over repeatedly which got me upset. Finally he said they would come on Monday but wouldn't come back before that to fill in the hole they left behind. Because I expressed my disappointment (I admittedly lost my cool at this point) and did curse once, he then refused to come back to do the job. When the owner said he would not come back I hung up the phone. Then the owner texted me with an offer to fill in the hole after he refused to finish the job. I texted back saying no and "good luck with your business." The owner then texted me back with further insults and I blocked his number. In ten years of being an HOA president I have never had a business do such a poor job and be so unwilling to do basic safety protocols. To be clear: All I asked for was to have a schedule and to come back that day to fill the hazardous hole Action Irrigation left behind. I cursed once (f'ing) and was never directed at the owner. My ire was justified by the overcharging, lack of responsibility, poor work, and the fact that I had to pull teeth to get an actual date for the return to perform repairs. He was such a good listener about what I like and what might concern me. He was an artist, eyeing the installation from all directions as it went in and considering where the next plant or rock should go; his taste was similar to mine, so when my brain couldn't make a decision I asked him what he would do and always liked the answer. He was a terrific communicator, texting each morning to let me know what time they'd arrive to start work. He had an impressive memory and knowledge base and the patience to take my phone calls from the nursery when I found some wonderful specimens I had to have, and he refigured out what to skip where, and supported me to use these instead. His foreman, Jorge, was equally kind, patient, eager to please and very skillful (the irrigation master). Bonus: the bill was much less than I'd expected. There were several jobs ahead of me, but it was well worth the wait in order to work with Greg and his crew.
