This is a fantastic Muay Thai gym. Bruce is an amazing coach. I started coming here in June 2019…read moreand quickly became a regular student because classes are fun, a great workout, and I learn a ton! If you have ever wanted to learn Muay Thai in a fun, safe and friendly setting (everyone who goes to the gym is so kind) then you will love this place!

Class: Pretty structured. You know what class is going to be like as far as flow goes from week to…read moreweek. This does not mean it gets stale, on the contrary, Bruce will keep you busy with new combos or new technique. Even the vets seem surprised from time to time. Grade: A Members: All the regulars keep me wanting to come back. They're all warm and welcoming. I cannot say this for other gyms I've been to that are brimming with ego and over-the-top testosterone. But this review is about Chonburi, so I digress. Grade: A+ Gym: The gym is a shared space with a Taekwondo school. A great place for your kids to learn martial arts while you kick you know what in Muay Thai. The gym is clean for a gym. Never felt grossed out and they do a good job of keeping it tidy. Kudos! There is plenty of equipment from thai pads to focus mitts. You will probably never have a problem having your own set of pads for kicking drills. Grade: B+ Coach: Bruce is a great guy. He's very encouraging and definitely wants his students to improve. It's clear to me that he's in it for the love of the sport and not to make a quick buck. To me, the coaching alone is enough for me to endorse this gym. However, the same caliber of people seem to be drawn to this gym. Grade: A+ Overall this is a great place to train. Classes on Mondays and Saturdays tend to be the largest. Additionally, Mondays are longer classes. Bonus. Wednesday and Thursdays are nice because you can have a little more attention from Bruce and the more experience students are totally willing to give you that tip for a better kick. Everyone there will surely tell you I need the extra help. ;D tl;dr: This gym is awesome. Highly recommend for beginner and the advanced student. You look past this place and it's your loss.

Coach Dave Dow, a former Muay Thai fighter, with significant international experience in Thailand…read moreand Japan, teaches students of almost all age ranges (4 and up). I am an adult student. I am a rank beginner, and I got to kick and punch in my first class. Coach Dave is a great instructor. Gentle and firm. He taught me how to put a headlock on one of my classmates who towered over me (well, my classmate was nice enough to bend down a little, too!). He pushes me, and I sweat freely by the end of class, leaving cortisol behind and swimming in endorphins. He manages classes with students of significantly different experience and strength levels. I added Muay Thai classes to my weekly weight training, and the moves--foot work, elbow throws, and knee throws--add so much extra training of my other muscles. They challenge and improve my balance and core and have boosted my physical confidence like crazy. We also spar in class, which I never expected to like, but my classmates are thoughtful and engaged in trying to maintain good form and getting better with our moves - they have all been super helpful in observing my form and providing constructive observations as we spar. I highly recommend Coach Dave Dow's classes. If you live in Murfreesboro, Coach Dave's place is right across from the Lascassas Pike Kroger and right beside Papa John's Pizza. Check out the website for more information.
