We are writing to express our disappointment regarding our recent experience at Gasthaus Burkard.
We had informed the hotel in advance that we would be arriving between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM. We had just flown in from Frankfurt Airport and arrived at the hotel around 10:10 PM with my wife's parents. However, upon arrival, we found the hotel completely closed. There was no staff present, and the restaurant was also closed.
We went to the building next door to ask about the hotel, but unfortunately, no one seemed to know anything about it. As we are visiting from the U.S., we were unable to make a phone call to the hotel using our cell phones due to international service limitations. We asked a woman next door to call the hotel for us, but no one answered the phone.
She mentioned there might be an emergency number posted somewhere near the entrance, but we could not find one. At that point, we felt completely abandoned and effectively locked out of the hotel.
Fortunately, we were able to find two available rooms at a nearby hotel. The following morning, we returned to Gasthaus Burkard and spoke with the owner, who said he had left at 10:05 PM because he had not received any phone call from us. However, as explained, it was extremely difficult for us to make a call from our U.S. phones, and no alternative contact method or emergency number was available.
We had already paid for our stay in advance and are deeply disappointed by the lack of support and communication from the hotel. This experience had a negative impact on our trip. read more
