Superb service; all the wait staff we encountered were really friendly and very helpful. We looked lost trying to decipher the German menu, when one of them came up to us and said they have English menus. Great! I had a Beef goulash and Spaetzle in butter, while my SO had one of the most expensive items on the menu, freshly caught and steamed trout with salted and boiled potatoes and green salad, priced at EUR 0.06 per gram. No way of knowing ahead of time how much the thing weighed, but this one didn't attend Weight Watchers as it tipped the scaled at 310 grams. So his cost almost exactly 2x as much as mine. Was it worth 2x as much? Not to me (I did enjoy eating the head and tail, which he won't touch). Still, not that expensive for a freshly caught, whole fish, well prepared and served with a large helping of soft, steamed potatoes and a mixed salad.
My beef goulash was good, but I made it even better thanks to our main waiter who brought me some Habanero sauce. The Spaetzle was ok, but nothing special. What was special was the view, which was beyond amazing, it was enthralling. The towering cliffs, the lake, and most of all the Dachstein glacier dominating the view. Wow! read more
