The best that we had in Munich. Breaded veal schnitzel with sautéed potatoes and marinated cranberries. The cranberries kicked the flavor up a notch. So tasty. The Kasespatzel was a cheesy Swabian style noodle dish topped with crispy fried onions. So good. So addictive. Loved the dressing on the simple side salad that came with the Kasespatzel. Wanted something cool and refreshing to drink. Went with a blackberry sparking water refresher. Luba was such a great waitress. Definitely made our favorite meal in Munich a special one to remember. This place is one of the nicest, most affordable, and most delicious true Bavarian restaurants that Munich has to offer. As such, this is my go-to joint when I have out-of-town visitors. The decor here is absolutely fabulous. Polished wood and brass, seasonal decorations, and the compulsory Bavarian country flair imbue the restaurant with a mountain hunting lodge atmosphere, but without any of the controversial mounted deer head that could be off-putting whilst one is trying to eat. The tables are all well-sized, and the room arrangement lends itself to accommodating large groups as well as maintaining small, intimate gatherings. The menu is DE. LI. CIOUS. It's a cruel joke of nature that one's stomach can only fit one, maximum two dinners in one sitting. I could eat the whole menu here. In fact, I'm slowly working my way through it. While vegetarians will have it tough here, the Käsespätzle is one fine example of veg-friendly foods being done better at the Jagschlössl than anywhere else in Munich. For the standard meat-eater, this is your Bavarian cuisine heaven. For beginners, I recommend the Schweinshaxen. For more advanced, the Bergsteiger. I've always enjoyed ordering off the rotating daily menu as well. Desserts here need to be served with some sort of weaponry, because you'll spend as much time fending off invaders as eating your dessert. With respect to beer, this is a Hofbräu locale. Do enquire as to the seasonal brew. It's quite likely the latest incarnation of the Zwickl, which is an unfiltered golden goddess in a beer mug that I highly recommend. If you happen to be in Munich during the warm months while the Bayern are playing, this place sets up their lovely beer garden with a huge outdoor screen. Chances are that every bar in the city centre is jam packed, so why not enjoy the game comfortably over a Zwickl with delicious morsels of meat (or veg-friendly fare) under the towering chestnut trees? In sum, if you find yourself courting a Bavarian, take her/him here to charm them out of their Hosen. If you find yourself wondering where to take your out-of-town visitors to show off local culture, skip the Hofbräuhaus in the Altstadt and take them instead on the short tram ride to one of Munich's greenest neighbourhoods to eat here. And if you're a vegetarian who is tired of eating bland Käsespätzle, make the journey to the Jagschlössl for what I am sure must be the best Käsespätzle that Munich has to offer.

Same German fare but the dishes did not feel as "heavy" but it also might be presentation style. Their apfelkurcherl is divine! All around this is a good place to enjoy with friends, especially if you haven't seen each other in a while. Since the building was built in 1890 and is under monument protection, the new construction of the brewery was a real challenge. The brewhouse and each tank had to be built and developed in such a way that they not only brew the best beer, but could also be brought into the building and fit into the available space. They have their own beer as well as offer Hacker Pschorr beer here. It's a gorgeous old building that used to be a train station and the interior is spacious and warm. I assume they have an outdoor Biergarten for summer and so on. The menu is fairly extensive with most classical Bavarian food on offer. They also have a selection of drinks besides beer. I settled for the Wöllner Schnitzel which was made with pork that had a mustard coating. It was really good and I loved it. The Kaiserschmarrn we had was also quite ok. The service was good and friendly and overall it was a great experience. I would happily come here again. It's great beer and the food is also quite good here.
