The husband-and-wife team who run it used to be in fine dining and wanted to open a new place that was simpler (hence the name). The interior has all that chabby chic - glass jars, bare wood tables - that is popular in the U.S. The menu was on a chalkboard - 2 starters, 2 mains to choose from. We got all four that were on offer that week: - Cheese croquette - Baked tomato with tiny shrimp - Steak frites - Veg plate (excellent, best we've ever had; but veggie plates do usually suck) The hours are a little atypical, definitely check before you go. Also, we counted maybe 16 seats total, so a reservation is probably a good idea. Highly recommended. Best place we have eaten in Dendermonde by far.

This place was no exception - a bunch of Belgian staples plus some salads and pastas and such. When we walked in, I thought, the place is fancier than I anticipated, we're going to have to pay more than the usual 60 EUR that it costs to feed my family - esp. since the liter of sparkling water was 9.10! * My stoofvlees (carbonnade) was the best I have ever had * Scampi provencale was excellent * Perfectly done frites * Kids menu was good (spaghetti bolognese, fish fillet) * Didn't love the draft selection, but good beers in the bottle Service was friendly and the food came out quickly. Everyone was taken care of in addition to the other customers being present. The menu for us was a simple one being one of three choices of entrees. There was a beef stew, fish or vegetarian. Then came drinks. They had wifi for those of us needing to check our smartphones. It was a good meal in a small restaurant. The decor was nice but simple. Being on the square they're not hard to find. The have outdoor seating and they're dog friendly.
