It would appear that Salzburg rolls up its sidewalks on Sunday. It was impossible to find a place…read moreopen for dinner. The place we wanted to go was closed. And so was almost everywhere else. We wandered for quite sometime before we found this place. It looked nice. Inviting even. That said, most everything about it was not good.
The bar was very smoky. But everything appeared clean.
There was one table with two people in the bar when we arrived. No other tables occupied in the dining room.
The service here is just really not good. We sat for many,many minutes before they came to take our order. Then menu is very limited. Not much to choose from. It took forever to get our food which is puzzling because we didn't have anything that special. And we were the only customers at he time.
I had a small arugula salad with walnut crusted Camembert. Walnut crusted translated to thick heavy breading and deep fried. That kind of deep fried that makes you think their grease needs changed. It was served with cranberry sauce and a balsamic vinaigrette. When I picked the breading off the cheese it was much better. I ate it.
My husband had the burger and fries. He says it was at best an average burger.
Not one time did they ask if we needed anything else to drink. As we finished, there were two other tables that had sat down. They ignored one couple for probably 15 minutes while they dried silverware.
Bottom line:
1 small salad (not meal size)
1 burger and fries
1 beer
1 house white wine (served with sparkling water)
The bill was €30. This is the most we've paid for any meal (even when in Wien) and it was the worst meal we've had since we left home. We got better service at the airport restaurant in Chicago .
Find a better place to spend your money!!
