In pre-op when the RN was attempting to start an IV, she caused a venous rupture and had to start over in a different vein. They put me under during the procedure but had to take me out of anesthesia in the middle of the procedure because my O2 stats declined to 90%. They continued the procedure which means I felt everything they were doing in my bowels and the doctor wasn't gentle by any means. She knew that I was awake at this point. When they woke me up there were no reassuring words of comfort, I was just told to sit tight. I was so confused and had no idea where I was, I just felt a lot of pain as they continued the procedure. When I woke up, I was no longer receiving oxygen through the nasal cannula which is highly concerning. It was the most horrifying and painful experiences I have ever had and I will definitely not be going back.

I took the early morning gig, first one in, Yee RN was a gem, answering my questions, easing my mind and getting me ready for the procedure. Randy the nurse anesthetist came in happy and very comforting, letting me know about the anesthesia he would use to put me under. He wheeled me into the surgical room, Kathy joked with me, Randy turned on the Propofol, night-night. I woke up 30 minutes later, actually feeling great, no soreness at all. Dr Michael Baker MD came in and reported all he'd seen during my procedure, very positive guy. My sweet recovery nurse, Andrea RN disconnected me from all the lines and IV, let me get dressed and then walked me out to my awaiting car, twenty steps away! I so appreciated the way I was treated today at the Endoscopy Center of Colorado Springs! I'll be back in 7-10 years.

In the last three years I have actually been to all three gastroenterology centers in this same…read morearea with different doctors. I found all of the personnel at this location to be quite friendly and pleasant in a circumstance that is not always the most comfortable. The gastroenterologist I saw, Dr. Meister, was very straightforward and direct about answering any questions. My appointment was supposed to be at 10:45 and probably the only complaint I really had is that after not eating for more than 42 hours, my procedure ended up delayed by over an hour. I was envisioning every type of food in the universe, at that point. And I was in a bed with only a hospital gown on in the freezing cold building for all that time waiting. They brought me an extra hot blanket and a hot rap for around my neck, but after waiting that long, they were cold by the time I actually did get back for my procedure. Once I found out I was going to be delayed, I asked them to call my ride to let her know since she was waiting outside in her car, but she never got the message. So it wasn't just an inconvenience for me, it was an inconvenience for the person who had to drive me, too. It happens, and I certainly understand that, but it's too bad they don't build a buffer in between appointments in order to account for this, especially as they ask you to show up a half hour before your appointment. That was an hour and a half of sitting around in a hospital gown freezing my butt off starving to death unnecessarily. But in the last three years one thing I learned is that trying to schedule first thing in the morning, is best!
