One evening in spring I dropped in, finding a nice table in the middle of the roon. The service was very friendly and even though we had a misunderstanding on the starter later on, everything was solved nicely. The menu features a good variety of local and internationally influenced dishes. Everything I ordered was made in a fantastic way so I really enjoyed my time here.

Ist es sein kleiner französischer Akzent, der für den deutschen Otto Normalgast irgendwie nach großer Kulinarik-Welt klingt? Wer weiß. Auf jeden Fall fühlt sich ein Gast rundum wohl, wenn sich Dr. Thierry Simon um ihn kümmert. Ein Grund, weshalb so viele Gäste hierher kommen, ins Restaurant Weinkeller am Hanseplatz in Bad Iburg. Frische ist ihr Geschäft Simon führt das Haus mit Nicoleta Virgulto, der Küchenchefin. Sie ist gebürtige Rumänin, er gebürtiger Franzose, gemeinsam geht es ihnen um die Vermittlung von Genuss und dem Savoir-vivre-Gedanken. Sind die beiden auch selbst Genussmenschen? "Komplett, komplett, sind wir, komplett", bestätigt Simon per dreifacher Bekräftigung und fügt hinzu: "Man kann keinen Genuss vermitteln, wenn man Genuss nicht kennt." Selbst wenn sie nach der Arbeit um 3 Uhr morgens hungrig nach Hause kommen, kochen sie für sich frisch. Für den 50-Jährigen und die 37 -Jährige, die bereits in anderen Stationen miteinander arbeiteten, war stets klar: "Wenn wir uns selbstständig machen, dann an einem besonderen Ort." Den fanden sie in Bad Iburg. Vor Acht Jahren eröffneten sie ihr Restaurant in einem historischen Gewölbekeller von 1851. The chicken, pineapple, curry with cream "pizza" was a miss- I was in the mood for something different and thought it'd hit the spot. It did not, something about the chicken seemed off to me and the "crust" was an unusual unleavened bread/wafer type thing. It wasn't naan and it wasn't a thin pizza crust. Maybe I just picked the wrong thing off the menu. Service was friendly and helpful, but avoiding approaching the table to check in. Also, my side salad came out with my pizza. That was probably my bad for not specifying timing preference, but still worth noting.
