It all worked out great in the end! We ordered the three-fish-fillet plate, the breaded sea plaice plate, a salad of mixed vegetables and a dessert of sea buckthorn creme brulee. Everything was incredibly delicious, well plated and well executed! Lots of the ingredients were fairly unique and not stuff that one would commonly see in the US. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for good seafood in Dresden. In particular, they offer a number of high quality freshwater fish which are difficult to find in other places, like zander. Definitely do keep in mind that this place serves rather large portions (it's a good thing!) -- we finished everything but I was definitely really stuffed by the end. The restaurant is easily reachable by tram and one good idea is to first take a walk around the Grand Garden in Dresden and then head to dinner at Schwindts. We stayed even a little after closing (it took quite a bit of time to read and figure out the menu) and not once were they pushy about trying to get us to leave.

In the words of my fiance " the best risotto I've ever had."…read more The risotto was the highlight dish of the night - the sauce was indulgent, creamy, rich and savory with perfectly cooked scallop, pulpo and shrimp. Although I enjoyed our seafood appetizer, the portion was a bit small for my liking - but that may be because I enjoyed it so much. Each piece of seafood was perfect. The scallops perfectly charred, and cooked to a perfect temperature. The octopus again with a nice char, seasoning and not overcooked - just perfect. The salmon tartare in the middle was packed with flavor, I wouldn't change a thing. My fish of the day was my least favorite dish. I loved the tomatoes which packed a lot of flavor, but the fish itself although good, was nothing special. I would definitely recommend a visit to Stresa if you're in the area - well worth the drive from central Dresden

(There is a park behind the beer garden, so the overall vibe is super chill.) As for the food and drink, they exceeded our expectations. After having eaten out a lot over a two-week trip, the food here was much better than most of the places we visited in Germany. The pasta my daughter had was great -- lots of fresh veggies mixed in and it was her most memorable dish the entire two weeks. I had the white asparagus with a schnitzel and could not have been happier -- the asparagus and hollandaise sauce was outstanding, and the schnitzel one of the better I had all trip. As for the service, the folks who helped us were polite, funny and cool. I highly recommend this establishment. So glad we found it. Highly, highly recommended!!

This place was packed with locals and tourists alike from Czechia etc. the service was good and the beer was strong. The food was great. I had gelatinized pork and salad. The weisswurst was very tasty and came two in an order and served in a tasty broth with small veggies. It also came with a pretzel which is a great deal for 7€. The beer was tasty as well. The meatloaf is very dense and cut like a thick ham slice. On the salty side, this was well balanced with the sour cabbage and potatoes. We also ordered a side of beer sauce which is similar to a gravy and goes with meat dishes, not an accompaniment to the pretzels. The sauce tasted strongly of dark beer. Service was wonderful and we were checked on often by our server. Menus have English translations and it was nice to see a good mix of both Germans and foreigners here. Overall a great dining experience.
