There is an awesome jungle gym for the kids, basketball court, and a courtyard thats always maintained. I have talked to many previous and current tenants and they ALL loved the place. We did install a camera and security system through ADT. But it is Redding so I would have installed one anywhere I lived Disregard any negative reviews as some people obviously have way too much idle time and instead of working or being a productive member of society they sit around looking for negative behaviors (that arent even there), misery loves company. AND I have multiple nieces and nephews who are African-American, we have family dinners here and have had linda stop by just to play with the kids, and never EVER EVER discriminated against my family. I scheduled a viewing of what looked like available property, confirmed the day of and had a walk through with Mike. At no point was it mentioned someone is already closing on the property. That same day I filled out the application. The following day the property is removed from their site. I tried calling the office and Kelly said Apryl is not available but she would call me back in 45 minutes. I did not receive a call. The following day I decided to try again, realizing they close at noon on Friday, I was greeted by an answering machine. Then I notice I received a generic email from Apryl, telling me unfortunately it's been rented. This email was sent at 12:23pm, 23 minutes after closing. It's already frustrating looking for a rental, waiting on processes that you have little control over and to be ignored on purpose. Then to receive an email after closing hours to avoid talking to a customer. Incompetence is the only way I can describe my experience with Places and Spaces. An honest, 2 minute phone call would have been the appropriate way to handle this.

The manager, Debbie, is personable and accommodating. She truly cares about the residents and responds to phone calls or voicemails quickly. Service requests are responded to within the same day (if you place the request early that day). Neighbors are generally considerate. My next door neighbor occasionally played loud music, so I could hear it through my bedroom wall. However, the walls were thick enough that I couldn't hear anything except for that loud music. I was lucky to rent an apartment that had a new stove and dishwasher. The washer and dryer were loud and old, but they worked fine. Closing the doors in front of the laundry machines blocked the noises thankfully. However, the next tenant of my apartment unit will be fortunate enough to have those laundry machines replaced in addition to new carpet and vinyl. Lucky them! The apartment itself is spacious and clean. My only issue is that the ventilation above the stove wasn't effective, but opening the window helped. None of the appliances broke. The A/C and heater have never failed me either. There were spiders, mainly in the kitchen and the balcony. I guess the only good thing was that I overcame some of my arachnophobia having to get rid of them, haha. Debbie was straightforward when it came to the inspection prior to the move out. She wants you to get your full security deposit refund, and sure enough, I got the full refund. I appreciate this, as in the past, I had been cheated by an apartment manager who took almost all of my security deposit for "maintenance reasons". Overall, I had an amazing experience living in Shasta Creek. I highly recommend it!
