While I just started a new thing to try to improve them, a side effect has been to make my feet hurt more than they ever have, to the point that I feel like I'm walking, painfully, on little river rocks. Ouch, so much. I went to a different foot doctor a month or 2 ago, and I left feeling that he had helped me not at all, and that it was time for him to retire. But I saw the rave reviews for Dr. Facaros, and I decided to give him a try. Well, let me tell you, Dr. Facaros is THE guy!! He bounced into the exam room and greeted me like he'd known me for years, so I was instantly comfortable. Here's how down to earth he is: HE took off my shoes and socks, and, noting a little mud on one of them, HE CLEANED IT OFF THE SHOE. I was astounded. He told me ( the other guy did NOT) that I have not only flat feet, but incredibly flat feet. The bad news is, it's permanent and won't get better. BUT, he gave me great advice, such as getting better shoes, including specific shoes to check out. Then he explained about shoe inserts and the correct one to help my feet particularly, and the alternative of custom-made inserts, and the prices of each. And guess what? He DID NOT try to talk me into buying a bunch of expensive stuff! Not only that, he actually GAVE me a set of the proper inserts. Yeah, GAVE!! Because he saw how much I needed help. Now that''s a great doctor, and a damned good person as well. When I need to, he's the guy I'll be going to see, and meantime, I'll be telling EVERYONE about this great doctor!!

This new requirement of an additional office visit was not consistent with what Dr. Vess had told me initially: that I could call to provide feedback and request any adjustment to my new orthotics. I think requiring me to again travel to his office, PAY for another office visit, just to accomplish this simple adjustment to my custom made orthotics was overreaching and unnecessary. I will NEVER go back to him for this reason. Doc: get a better gatekeeper who understands how patients are affected by this abhorrent practice. You're trying to milk me and the insurance just so you can get income from another office visit, which is TOTAL bull.

The frankness displayed in the explaination of his diagnoses and treatment options prove that he is looking out for your best interest. My original podiatrist could not take me for two weeks! That's a long time for a swollen sore big toe to wait. I searched online for podiatrists and based on the 5 star ratings I chose Dr. Anita Onufer even though it was more of a drive to her office. She deserves more than 5 stars!
