The best thing about this garage is that it is very close to Portland Stage. And that's why I made the mistake of parking there. We were there today, a Sunday, for a stage matinee, and it was pretty chilly, so I didn't bother looking for street parking. Street parking isn't exactly abundant, but if I had searched I could have found something reasonably close. But I was lazy. The cost of my laziness was $16, for two hours and 24 minutes of parking. Ouch! That is the main reason for my negative review. Not only does it cost way more than street parking, it appears to be well above the going rate for private lots. One interesting point about the place is the payment system. Put a credit card into the reader at the entrance, and put the same card in to leave. That leads to another complaint about the place: the card reader is _slow_, and the screen instructions aren't well designed. Thinking that it must have been done authorizing the card, and no message saying to wait, I removed my card, only to get a message telling me to put the card back. The only progress message was a "remove card" message when the transaction _finally_ completed. Cash is not allowed; it's credit card or go away. The garage itself seems decent enough. I couldn't find the stairs, so I don't know whether they were clean or filthy. Instead I walked down the ramp. It wasn't icy, but the weather wasn't that cold. There were stripes of feathers and bird droppings under some cross structures near the entrance. Aisles are wide enough for easy access. I noticed that a lot of spaces were marked as reserved for hotel guests. So maybe the really high prices are meant to keep spaces available for hotel guests - or maybe to gouge unsuspecting hotel guests, and theater guests who don't look for a better price. read more

It took 20 minutes to get out of this garage after the State Theater show. The problem wasn't even the number of cars. Multiple cars were getting stuck at the gate for some reason. It just wouldn't open for them. Cars behind were beeping. No one knew what to do. We will never park here again! read more

Most people typically don't look above them while in a parking structure. I would highly advise it here. Keep an eye out for potential falling chunks of concrete due to spalling. I spoke with a security attendant who said this garage is periodically inspected. It is certainly due for an inspection as of the date of this post. read more

This garage, where one must pay via credit card only, no attendant in attendance, kept three women in three separate vehicles waiting for over 45 minutes as each attempted to check out and leave the park! THEN, it charged my credit card THREE TIMES, as it kept having me insert my card over and over. Each of us attempted (through the annoying and ineffective automated voice call in box) to seek help from SOMEONE, ANYONE, preferably a HUMAN, to assist with getting us out of the garage but NOOOOO! I would not use this facility ever again and will tell all I know same. Also, no one at Gateway has returned our emails, calls to rectify the overpayment. read more

It's a rip off. One hour =$5. One hour and one minute=$16! I clocked in at 5:47 pm on 5/8/25. I clocked out at 6:45 pm and got charged $16, yet I was there for only 58 minutes. I question whether their entry and exit clocks are synchronized. A convenient way for the operators to make extra money figuring few people will complain. The place was decrepit and overdue for a facelift. The Westin should be embarrassed their guests have to use such a facility. The City of Portland should demand more of its monopolistic parking suppliers. read more

Had a monthly pass here for three months- no issues. Staff was responsive to email and helpful. I can't comment on what hourly or daily parking is like, but I've never had issues finding a spot, getting my car dinged or broken into. My only qualm would be price, but in reality it's a relatively median price for monthly parking in downtown Portland. Nathaniel was helpful and overall I was just really happy to get my car off the street each night. Also a nice view of the city from the upper floors! read more

Are you freaking kidding me??? First, check out this insane hazardous situation I snapped sitting by the door between the Westin and the garage! I mean, what? Spaces are too close to one another, assuring dents and dings. The worst part is when the concert was over at State Theatre, a big crowd formed in front of the two payment machines. YOU CAN'T GET YOUR CAR AND PAY AS YOU DRIVE OUT. We had nowhere to stand each time a car pulled in so we'd lose our places in line. Then, after the crowd had dwindled down to a few people, a guy came out of the office and said: "Oh, I can take payments here." read more

Never again. Am fairly new back to the city, and I know parking is an issue, but... jeezum crow. Was at an event at Space Gallery with an early dinner before w/ a friend. Didn't see the hourly rate posted when I drove in, after I'd driven around for quite a while looking for a street spot. I read somewhere else that it's not posted. Left around 10pm, and my bill was $23. Can't the city do something about this?? - have a capped rate over so many hours? Never again and damn you, Standard Parking. I noticed the lot was pretty empty, as I drove in. I considered NOT going into the city for the event because of issues I've had looking for parking before. Is this what the city of Portland wants, and has become? An evening that started as a pay-what-you-can theater experience became everything but that. Worst garage in Portland. Exorbitantly expensive, absolutely filthy stairways, levels are poorly marked. You must pay before you get your car using machine on 1st floor, when theater lets out you'll wait in long line and have to pay for time standing in line. Park at garage on Free St near Civic Center. They offer discount of 50% to theater patrons, its clean and you do not need to wait in line to pay at a machine. read more

After snow bans and misadventures combined with parking tickets averaging almost 100$ a month I decided I needed a garage spot. This place a part of me hates is actually very good to the monthly holders and the businesses they supply parking for. It's a little tight since they are retrofitting but what I am happy about is being able to come home in the m8ddle of a snow storm and KNOW I'll have a spot. Hotel must stick to hotel spots. Company workers to their reserved ones and then after that only however many spots are le f the open aside from monthly parkers may be used. I love that I don't have to brush off the car or plow it out. Plus not having to pay the meter every 2 hours is awesome. read more

If I could leave negative stars, I would. I'm writing this while still sitting in a 20 minute wait to exit the garage at 640 on a rainy Saturday. The incompetence of the operators of this garage has cost me time and money which I will never recuperate and the only thing that keeps me from absolutely just parking my car and waiting until the line clears is the fact that I will give the owners of this garage a single cent more of money. If you want to park in Portland I'd rather pay a car theif money to steal my car than the morons that run this garage. Steer clear and don't waste your time. read more

A great place to get your tires slashed! You would think that after multiple incidences where a plethora of tires have been slashed they would change something. No. I will not nor would I recommend anyone parking their car here. Ever. -unless of course you want phallic objects drawn on your vehicle and its tires slashed then this place deserves 5 stars. The management is clearly lazy and the garage is disgusting and falling apart without any attempt to remedy it. Rust and salt are dripping from each level and homeless people frequently urinate in the stairwells. It's hard to fathom such an abomination is utilized for hotel guests to park in for an alleged 4 star hotel. Take your chances and park on the street. At least parking tickets are cheaper than tire replacement. read more

This garage doesn't have any posted rates that are obvious when pulling in, I THOUGHT it had said $3.50/1hr, $7/2hr, $12/3hr online, but this is NOT CORRECT. Went to dinner 5:30-6:30 and it cost $12. Complete rip-off, $12/hr. DON'T PARK HERE !! read more

Parked here because it's close to Portland Stage. After performance was over, it took us a full half-hour to escape the garage because card-charging kiosk was out of order and the line stretched up to the third floor. There must be a better way and place. read more

It's one of those times where you wish you'd read reviews on EVERYTHING you were going to go to or use as a service when you're on vacation from out of town. Looking at these reviews I now understand how unsafe this garage is. It's not like you usually care what your "experience" is like at a parking garage, until your car gets broken into and your $1300 road bicycle gets stolen. I'm not sure if that's the worst part I remember-- it had to have been how unhelpful, lax and nonchalant the employees were. When I reported to the office about my stolen bike, the attendant was playing her Nintendo Switch. Not watching surveillance cameras whatsoever. I had to call the manager three times to even get through to her. The best part was, we only were parked here because it's a contracted out garage for the amazing and beautiful Westin Waterfront in downtown Portland. Such a bummer that they've got such an asinine garage choice. It just didn't even feel safe in there. Marriot which owns Westin gave my boyfriend his ENTIRE 3-nights' stay back to him because of this. The garage did NOTHING. The attendant said they couldn't release the tape, the manager said she wouldn't watch the tape because it would be too long of surveillance, and when I asked for it she told me the surveillance was "local files" and they can't release to the public. Funny, considering nothing is local these days unless you're living in the stone age. I filed a police report and asked if the officer could retrieve the tapes. He never followed up. Forgive me if this wasn't the case, but I truly believe this was an inside job. I have heavily tinted windows and the garage employees tried to delude me into believing there are "no cameras" that point on the third floor where my garage was parked, and told me "anyone could've taken my bike down the stairwell where there aren't cameras" or "thrown it over the side of the garage." Like, I just truly had to ask myself if they were serious. What a pathetic joke of a business. At least do SOMETHING. Really, just do yourself a favor and NEVER park here. read more
