Clarke's have a really good selection of meat wehther you like it sliced, diced, chucked, minced, casseroled, braised and the prices are not silly. The pork, beek and lamb I have bought from there has all been from Wales. The mince meat I had looked low in fat. Lamb is always my favourite. If you are not a great cook, its very hard to go wrong with a pre prepared lamb kebab on the skewer with different coloured peppers. Their home made beef burgers are just 70p each. They are more than happy to give you the meaty facts if you want to go in and ask about what you are buying. Bon appetite.

Staff here are always really helpful and patient, especially as most of the time when you go to this butchers you can get carried away and have the staff weighing all sorts. You just can't beat value for money here. Also, to get you ready and organised for christmas they do have a christmas club, give them your order and so long as its paid intime you can just go and collect everything you want nearer the time.

They will cut you any size of joint, score the pork correctly, make there own sausages, cut you a crown, anything. You cant get that in a supermarket either. The meat is always fresh and the shop is kept prestine whenever you call in. In summer they do fresh bbq packs and all the trimmings, at Christmas they do the best pork and turkey I have ever tasted all localy produced meat. The guys in here are great, if they see you ones they will always say hello.

The quality of the meat they provide cannot be understated -- it's fantastic. And as I say, you can cut out the middle-man and buy directly from them -- simply check out the website, ring the farmer, and arrange to pick up what you need whenever is mutually convenient. At a time when many of us are becoming increasingly concerned about food miles and the provenance of what we eat, I cannot recommend these good people heartily enough.

They also sell veg and tinned produce. I'm not sure how much real butchering they do nowadays. I've asked for some lesser known cuts and have been told they don't do them. The back of the shop where most of the work is done is blocked off and I never trust what I can't see. (That is no reflection on hygiene, just my preference) They do source lots locally so should be commended for that All in all it does what you'd expect of this type of shop.
