But unlike most girls, I didn't hit that stage until I was in college and discovered the wonderful world of Pinterest where countless minutes have been wasted away into building my future wedding through countless repins onto my Wedding board. A few days ago, I looked through my friend's wedding album and I was blown away. Her photographs were done remarkably well and creatively so! Never had I felt the urge to physically take someone's pictures just so I could scan them onto my computer and upload them immediately to Pinterest until I looked at her photos. Don, in a nutshell, is easy going, laid back down-to-earth man with a keen eye for art. Whether you hire him for a standard headshot, family portrait, wedding or commercial shoot -- this guy is the man to do it! I have been a SAG member since 2006 and have worked in-depth with other renowned photographers in Studio City & West Hollywood. I recently moved to San Diego and was determined to find a top notch photographer in this area. After a lot of research, my relentless effort to find the perfect photographer paid off..... Viola! I landed on Dons website. When I met Don in person I wasn't sure what to expect. I saw a tall well-built man whose passion was clearly photography, We clicked right off the bat! They did an…read moreabsolutely out-of-this-world job photographing my wedding in Chicago and if there were a wedding A-team assembled, the'yd have been the captains. Here's the thing. I was doing a pretty small wedding (65 people) in a pretty low key format (dinner party at a restaurant, very casual ceremony) and I was trying to keep things pretty mellow. I've been admiring the work of Josh and Melissa for several years (they used to be based in Chicago) -- so when I did a quick check into working with them, it all seemed to align perfectly. They were available my weekend, like to travel back to Chicago (and know great places to take photos after doing many weddings/engagement sessions!) and were so on top of every step of the process. We booked them a room within our room block and some airplane tickets...and we were set to go after filling out a few preliminary forms and schedules. (I told you, VERY on top of things and they forsee any issues before they actually happen, huzzah!) I was worried about one thing though: My anti-photographic soon-to-be husband. He hates smiling for photos. I didn't even get engagement photos because I didn't want to deal with him...so this whole thing made me a bit nervous. To the rescue: The documentary-like style of Continuum (just check their site/blog). Seriously, we barely knew they were even there throughout the day and evening. They caught so many sweet, special, cool, unique moments...not a forced smile in the house! So many guests commented on how wonderful they were. Perhaps because they made everyone look so fabulous and normal? Probably, but mostly I think they are just very easy to be around and very professional and non-intrusive. They were always punctual, on schedule, highly communicative, fun and personable. Even during our ride around town for a photos beforehand, everything was really laid back, and pretty natural (hard to pull off with poses!). The key moment? Nick saying "Oh really, we are done with these? I have so many more places I want to take pictures!" Miraculous, I kid you not. They are very good about getting everyone to just enjoy themselves and behave naturally --- catching them in the best light, normalcy and festive fun. Family photos: I hate these. I didn't even want to do them. Luckily Josh moved through these like a ninja. He even reminded my aunt (several times) not to interfere with her flashing and that we would share all the photos with everyone from his professional lens that they could download for free. (and he did, quickly!). They'll have you make a list of all the shots, Melissa will round people up (and make sure they don't pair anyone uncomfortably --- stepwives, exes, ask for dead grandfathers to join, etc), Josh will snap them and you'll be on your way to the party before you know it! We had the galleries within a few weeks and the discs a week after that. He made galleries for both free downloads (with small watermark, lower quality -- for people to use as profile photos, etc) and then a hi-res gallery to purchase. We ended up liking them so much we ordered tons for our families for Christmas and used one for our Christmas card. We haven't even gotten to our photobook yet (we will) - Melissa is great at putting them together. We will also order more prints for our own use at home...but the reception on the photos has been fantastic. Everyone adores them, including us...and I can be very critical of photos, especially when I am in them! All in all, Continuum was tied with Birchwood Kitchen for my favorite people to work with on this wedding. One provided beautiful evidence and memories and the other sustenance and service, so they both get first place in my book. I cannot recommend them highly enough and they even far surpassed our expectations as to what photographers can add to a wedding. Worth every single penny and more. If you need a photographer, send them an email...and tell them Colleen C sent you!

Why not consider hiring photographers who are incredibly personable, are easy to work with, provide a great deal of care and moderate amounts of wit to what they do? Most importantly, you should really consider hiring Josh and Melissa because the quality of their pictures never wavers from picture 1 to picture 1,001. You may be able to save $1 or 2 somewhere else but don't. They're worth the investment and they're worth getting to know and having them a part of your once-in-a-lifetime event. Plus, it's a lot of fun to gloat about how great your photos turned out and how great the people were who took the pictures after your big day is over! If you only do this once, you might as well do it right the first time. Right? Right. As someone who's more than familiar with photography on his own, it's easy to spot the fakers from those who love what they do, who they meet and the results they're committed to providing. Continuum will leave you wondering why you even considered any other photographers. It's your big day.
