Anyway this is a great little pub, like the outside the inside has not changed much in years, it's a real old Irish pub with three rooms that you could end up in, one is the room with the bar in it, the next is a room with a pool table in it and the last is just a room off the pool table room with a few chairs in it, its all very old school, nothing modern about it and it certainly is not the most luxurious or comfortable of pubs but it has a charm about it that makes you come back again and again. In the summer time you will find that this pub attracts bikers and hippies with long hair, I don't know what it is that lures them in but they all seem to know that this is the pub for them. Lastly, the burning question...are the loos blue? Yes, yes they are, well the ladies ones are anyway, not fancy, just blue!

One of the owners is Indonesian, and the chef is awesome, resulting in a unique twist on traditional Irish fare. Hubby got the fish and chips, which were the best I've had anywhere - huge fresh melt-in-your-mouth chunks of creamy white fish lightly battered in tempura, and crispy plump chips (fries). Some of the dishes featured an unexpected touch of Asian spice that really brought out the flavors of the fresh ingredients. We sat in what seemed to be the family area, and we could relax and not worry about disturbing the adults in the front area of the pub, and the kids were out of range of the drinking area with pool tables. When they got bored, the kids went to the garden in back and ran around with other kids. Great kids' menu too. The combination of excellent food, friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, and something-for-everyone make Weaver's a sure shot for families passing through or living in Newmarket-on-Fergus.

It's really cool actually. Apart from the usual and fantastic porterhouse range of beers, The Porterhouse is known for some great food in Dublin and the Cork branch is no different. Unlike probably any other bar in the country, Porterhouse Cork boasts a full sized shuffleboard table. In fact, apparently it's the only championship shuffleboard table in Ireland. Feck the pool tables you get in many pubs, this is far more fun. If you don't know what it is, imagine lawn bowling on a long wooden table in a 10 pin bowling sort of vain. There are gutters on either side as well as at the end. The idea is to push a puck (heavy plastic thing) and have it stop in the scoring zone before going in the gutter. Like lawn bowling, your opponent can chose to either go for the highest scoring zone, or to aim for your puck and knock it in the gutter but run the risk of yours bouncing in too. Word of advice, iPhones do not make good pucks. Porterhouse Cork is worth going for the shuffleboard alone but it helps to have the great food and beer there as a backup if the shuffleboard is in use.
