I felt as if we'd be going with no heat for 2-3 days. Mind you it's January and less than 30 degrees outside. Tech came out to our house, said I needed a new filter for my attic A/C unit. I agreed, he said he installed it and then charged me for it. Turns out he left the old dirty one in the unit and charged me for a new one, the tech's name is Carver. I bought a new air conditioner from Geisel several years ago. Within the second year I had problems. They determined that I needed a new part that was under warranty. Now, after no longer in warranty, the unit went out completely during the worst heat wave in years. The company I called discovered that the part Geisel supposedly replaced was COMPLETELY MISSING, AND THE UNIT IS NOW DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. Now, less than 8 years after new, I need a totally new unit for an estimate well above $10,000. There is nothing that would convince me to use Geisel ever again. read more

I was really impressed with Geisel for my plumbing emergency. They got someone out to me right away. I got a text from them with the guys photo telling me when he was on the way. He also called me in route to give me his ETA. He was punctual and very professional. Hy plumbing issues proved to be more complicated than first thought. Their guy communicated each step and my options clearly to me thru the entire process. He worked hard and diligently to resolve my issue. This company needs an overhaul! Service Experts installed a new heating and air conditioning system in our home in 2021 and the heating unit stopped working on this Saturday afternoon. House temperature was 59 degrees with my elderly mother and an infant, this was totally unacceptable. I called the 24 hour team for assistance and was given a run around. I was told by the 24 hour team that someone would be available after the 3 visits they had in front of me. I called back to verify they had my phone number just in case the tech was able to talk with me and walk me through the problem. Guess what...no one called, no one came by we just had to deal with being cold; with a heating unit under two (2) years old. Sunday afternoon, I called back. The operator was at least honest with me and stated no one would be available until Monday morning. Monday morning, no call, no visit, NOTHING from Service Experts! I called back around 11:30am to see if there were any notes, any plans, anything that would note service for my home... and NOTHING was noted, nothing was scheduled, nothing! Maybe because I am not an Advantage Customer paying a monthly fee. Just poor service. So sorry I had them install these units in our home. A Very disappointed customer... read more

Geisel worked on my hot water tank.They said it needed a gas valve, they could get in a few days for about $300. Plus install fee. I said go for it. The next day they called, said the valve wouldn't be available for 4 weeks & the price went up to $600. But the good news, for $1500 they can get me a new tank installed In about 2 days. I order the valve, got the valve, & called them to get it installed They never called back I got it fixed, the valve was good, just needed to adjust the Ignitor. I had a new furnace installed in my newly purchased home in January of 2023. I have recently been having issues with the furnace not turning on and was receiving error codes. The tech came out and was unable to reset the furnace. He determined that the control panel was bad, and should be covered under warranty. The next day I received a quote for over $550 to replace the control panel! When I called, I was told this was for labor, as labor is not covered under the warranty. What good is a warranty when it doesn't cover having the part installed? I was told it was not them, it was the manufacturer's (Lennox) warranty, and they don't cover labor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So, I then stated that my boyfriend is a furnace guy and can install it, so please just send me the part.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was told they cannot do that. I cannot get the part (that is covered under warranty!) without paying to have it installed. It is very blatantly a way to get around honoring a warranty! ! The first heat wave of the season overwhelms the AC repair industry, that's no surprise. I expected to have to wait in line for service, which I did, and it was nothing but bumbling incompetence with this outfit. The problems with these clowns are many. The circus show started with the "scheduler" calling hours after the appointment should have ended to tell me the tech wasn't coming... I had figured that out. They were going to reschedule me for the next day, the tech didn't show or call that day either, I had to call and ask if the guy got into an accident or something, maybe they would like me to go out and look for him? He showed up 6 hours late, he was obviously working overtime as it was evening now. He began to troubleshoot the system and after about an hour declared that the compressor on my 3 yr old AC was dead. The part would be under warranty and I'd only have to pay the low low price of $1,400 to have it installed. With no other choice I asked them to get the part under warranty and install it. They'd order it and schedule the install. They "scheduled" the install for 5 days later, guess what? No tech, no call, another day wasted waiting for the tech. I got a call later in the evening saying they need to reschedule. The night before that "scheduled" visit, I got a call telling me they can't find the part, they don't know if it' been ordered or how to find out. The day of the scheduled repair, no tech, but I got a phone call, telling me they don't have the part but are rescheduling, I asked how they could reschedule a day if they don't know when the part was going arrive, that seemed to have stunned them into silence, I asked for the manager, I got a hang up. I'd rather stick my hand in a blender than have to deal with these boobs. Oh, I called another outfit, Jennings, they came out that same day, troubleshot the condenser, had it running in 10 minutes... it wasn't the compressor... Service Experts? Not so much. read more

Called the service and have two men show up in the next day morning to fix the broken AC. Just for anyone are considering their service, they charged $99 travel fee + $100 diagnose fee. So $200 down, and if you want them to find out the freon leak, $280 not including fixing. With all that we get a quote of almost $4000 to just fix it. Of course they offered the complete replacement which it's almost $16,000. The repairman didn't even open the lid of the AC and just kept sitting and writing down all the number and giving me the "there was another customer didn't like the quote but that's just how it is" story. Was very satisfied with the service. Booking was super easy, I did it online at serviceexperts.com. From there, they confirmed my time and they were able to come out the next day. That was crucial since it was in the 90s and we were sweltering. The technician arrived early and got to work. He was very knowledgeable about what he was doing and fixed the A/C unit right away. We ended up needing to purchase a new one since ours was old, and we were able to do it through them as well. In fact, the guy was able to come earlier than previously scheduled. read more

I needed a 10' outdoor gas line run for a future generator, and hired Geisel HVAC to do the work. On Day 1, two technicians came from Geisel HVAC in Elyria (one did all the work and the second tech was a go-fer) they spent 1 hour trying to break loose the couplings on the gas meter. I was told to call Columbia Gas Co., and have them replace the meter. Columbia Gas replaced the meter and locked it out until the work from Geisel was completed. On Day 2, Geisel worked for 5 hours, completing the pipe work and a leak check; they found a leak at the furnace gas valve. The furnace was installed (by them) 2 years earlier and was still under full warranty, and repair was completed. I called Columbia Gas to have them inspect and turn on the gas. Columbia Gas noted that the Geisel job failed to 1)install to-code a pipe sleeve through the house wall for the gas line, and 2)still needed to paint  the outdoor above-ground pipeline. So, the work was red-tagged, and we were still without gas service. On Day 3, Geisel came back to fix the code violations that required cutting out the new line they had just installed going into the house, and putting a sleeve over that new gas line plus paint the outdoor line.  They worked 3 1/2 hours.  After completing all work I was presented with a bill that listed 12 hours total of labor. After reviewing my security cameras for time (start/finish) I disputed their labor quote, pointing out the 3rd day of work was done because Geisel's techs didn't follow code, and had to re-do their work. Speaking with Zach, the tech's manager, plus his supervisor, they adamantly refused to adjust the total labor charge. This is just a heads-up, that Geisel doesn't seem to know the plumbing codes or reconsider their error in charging for labor. I have read reviews on Geisel in the past that were negative, but Geisel would respond to the reviewer to make you think it was the customer's fault.  Well, you can decide, next time you hire them and they inflate the price to cover their mistakes. Update: Within a week of this review Geisel HVAC operations manager reached out to me after seeing this YELP review and refunded me a dollar amount relative to six hours of the labor charge. I feel this is a satisfactory adjustment. read more

We reported in October that the AC they installed wasn't working. They came out and looked and told us they would call us back. Never did. I called them and they came out and ran a test. Said they would be back, never came back. I got them to come back and they confirmed what I told them was wrong in the first place (I literally showed them a video of the leak) and they would need to order the parts. They never came back. Once we called again and they finally admitted they had the parts they said they'd have to wait (it was dead of winter by now) until it was warmer and that they would call us. They never did. Now it's May, it's 80 degrees out and my AC STILL DOESN'T WORK. I'm blasting them everywhere I can now because this company is a scam that cannot get its act together and can't call a customer back to save their own litigation. These guys are the absolute worst plumbing service! Maybe because I have Home Serve as a protection plan on my water line so I wouldn't be paying the bill, but my experience with this company was absolutely unacceptable! I had an appointment on a Friday morning for my shutoff valve (the main coming into my house) to be replaced. When scheduling the appointment I was told someone over the age of 18 needed to be present. I had arranged for my sister to be there, however she was running late so when the repair person came my niece who is not quite 18 was the only person home (that's my fault I couldn't be there and my plan to have my sister be there didn't go as planned) The technician came in my house, acted like he didn't know what he was there for ( I know that the problem I was having was noted by the secretary so they would know what to do since I wasn't going to be there) He shut my water valve off, then asked my niece how old she was and when she told him she wasn't 18 he said I have to leave I'm not allowed to be alone in the house with you. Left my main water valve turned off and left my house, so I had NO RUNNING WATER in my home. I received a call from dispatch and was informed the technician was unable to complete the work and was asked to reschedule, I explained what happened with my sister and let them know she was at my house so whenever someone could go back an adult was home. I was given an appointment time of 12pm-4pm that day, at 4pm no one had showed up, I called and was told "we didn't have you on our schedule." I called Home serve and was given a further run around. Saturday I called and eventually someone called me back asked me what had happened the day before, said he needed to talk to the manager because he didn't know what to do they didn't have any appointments available ( this is the company that offers emergency appointments and I haven't had running water for over 24hrs) several phone calls later a manager calls me and sets an appointment for 8am-12pm on Sunday. At 1145am I called him to say I haven't heard from anyone he says someone named Roger was coming, but that he would call and see how long he would be and call me back, NEVER CALLED BACK and NOBODY SHOWED UP. I paid for an emergency call with another company to get my water valve turned back on after over 48hrs with no running water. I will never do business with this company again and I wouldn't recommend anyone else use them either! read more

My mother 95 years old had her 6 year old unit leaking water. I live outside the State and called these thieves to help her. I told them it was urgent as it is over 90 degrees and its dangerous for her to be without ac. She turned off the unit because it was flooding her carpeting. I do maintenance work and suspected that the unit had a build up of algae and was restricting the drain. It took them 7 days to show up! She suffered for 7 days with a fan. The service clown shows up and said that he did not have the correct part and had to reschedule. The next day a lady showed up, went outside, came back in and told her the unit was broken and that she needed to replace it for $7,000.00 I was furious! I called a Mom and Pop shop company to come out and give me an opinion. They came immediately. I was told that there is nothing wrong with the unit and that someone had switched the wires outside which is why it was not working. They performed the routine cleaning and we signed up for yearly service all for $280.00 You have now been warned! read more

DO NOT USE! I have a rental property in Akron. Dispatch quoted an $84 service charge, waived if a repair was done. Then the tech called me to schedule and we again discussed the $84 service charge. Turns out the $84 is just for the guy to show up. There is another $86 diagnostic fee on top of that!! He diagnosed that the flame sensor is bad, and quoted $429 to replace it (this is a $13 part that takes 5 minutes to remove/put back). When I said no, he said he could clean the old part for $229. I had a another company out a few months ago and they charged me $27 to clean the sensor, plus their service charge. So $229 is outrageous and $429 is highway robbery. I had my regular maintenance guy to the house a few days later, and he said the sensor just needed to be cleaned, but not replaced. He did find that the clamp holding the sensor was not holding the sensor tight anymore, so I ended up replacing the $13 part (the clamp & sensor is one part). He charged me $50 bucks, including the part. Service Experts cost me $170. I was willing to pay the $84 service fee, but it should have been made VERY CLEAR that , regardless of whether I chose to do the repair or not, there would be an ADDITIONAL diagnostic fee. read more

I signed up for Geisel's service contract for my home approximately three years ago. They come out to my house and perform a thorough inspection of my central air in the spring and my furnace in the fall. Every time they come, the workers are courteous, they put paper shoe covers on and they explain everything that they do. Their rates seem to be very reasonable and they are very prompt. Last Sunday, my air conditioning went out, I called on Monday and they were able to come out Tuesday morning. Within one hour, they had the problem fixed. I highly recommend them. read more

We dropped by a Costco kiosk and filled out a form for an estimate. I received a call shortly after to make an appointment. My experience with Service Experts started with a fantastic deal on a complete Lennox System ... furnace, coil humidifier, thermostat and air conditioner. The salesman, Tim, had previously been a technician so he was knowledgeable and informative and laid out many options. He gave us the Costco discount PLUS their own discount and it was a deal we couldn't refuse. The installation crew, Bob and Derek, arrived on time and ready to work. They immediately got to work and efficiently removed all the old equipment, taking care to lay down tarps and protect our home. It was a cold and snowy day and they had to work inside and outside very uncomfortable weather conditions. I have a little experience in Facilities and systems and as I watched them, they exhibited exceptional professionalism and competence in every aspect of the job. They kept me informed through the day and explained everything to me. Although this would normally be a two day job, they completed it in 12 hours so we could have heat and comfort before they left. The system is quieter and runs smoother than our old Lennox (20 years old) and we are looking forward to continued enjoyment of the new system. I had one of their people come out last year to clean my old gravity furnace. At the end of the service he cautioned me about the furnace and intimated that it was all but illegal to have one, suggested we get a new furnace asap. Last winter was one of the worst in history and we were freezing to death the whole season. This year I had some one that was referred to me by Elyria Hardware come out and I found that Geisels not only did NOT clean my furnace they adjusted the fuel pressure down less than half. They also modified the flue so the heat would go up the chimney instead of the vents. What they did was criminal in my opinion. read more
