This was a daily stop while I was in Aveiro. I love ice cream, and this place has some interesting Portuguese flavors, most of them made with Portuguese ingredients, like chestnut with Port wine, fresh fig from the Algarve, pineapple from the Azores islands, banana from Madeira, and sheep's milk from Idanha-a-Nova. And of course you have to try Ovos Moles, which after all, is Aveiro's trademark.
I'd love it if the flavors were more intense, but they are in no way bland. I've tried like six flavors, I really like the rich egg yolk flavor of the Ovos Moles, and the rocha pear, which is a seasonal flavor made with a pear variety only from Portugal.
Yes, I've said it 100 times. Uniquely Portuguese flavors, made with exclusively Portuguese ingredients. You'll regret it if you don't give it a try.
And if ice cream is not your thing, come get yourself some delicious macarons (€1 each) or some nice coffee drinks (€2 for a macchiato latte!!) read more
