The very distracted customers ahead of me were particularly yelling their orders just because English isn't their first language, either. Some customers are unintentionally rude. I was initially attracted to this place due to the reviews mentioning fruity gelato flavors like watermelon, coconut and white grape but they must be seasonal because I was slightly disappointed to discover only 3-4 basic fruit sorbet flavors out of 12 flavors they were currently offering. My boyfriend opted instead for a scoop of pistachio, and after one lick I was enlightened. It tasted equally as good as the gelato that I've had in Italy and suddenly it made sense to me why everyone loves pistachio as I've never really been a big fan. Rich and nutty with a creamy, velvety texture that gives it just the right mouth-feel... and for less than 4 euros?? I only wish that we hadn't discovered this spot on our last night in Porto because I definitely would have been tempted to revisit.

Amorino Gelato 'twas founded in the year 2002 by two Italians, bosom companions from their youth. Their first shop commenced in Paris, and from there the chain doth spread its fame 'cross the world o'er. What maketh Amorino so special is not just that their gelato is all natural and organic, but also that their dessert artists masterfully carve gelato petals into the shape of flowers! Thou mayest order endless flavors such as Sri Lankan Coconut or Orange Blossom Cream... as many flavors as there are petals upon thy cone. All this is then crowned by a gelato-filled macaron. I ordered the basil lime alongside the tiramisu, topped with a pistachio macaron. The resulting sweet rose was rich and much smoother than the course of true love, but alas, did not survive as long as any botanical bouquet I have e'er received. Overall, this doth prove a merry and touristic experience, without forfeiting the quality thereof. Stop in to treat yourself or to give some sweets to the sweet. Setting out from the centre of Coimbra, we had to go no further than the suburbs to accomplish this, at Rui dos Leitões restaurant, at Rua Barraca Fornos, 3020-923 TORRE DE VILELA ( Coimbra - Trouxemil e Torre de Vilela ). A fifteen minute taxi ride (an adventure in Coimbra) from the city centre, the food was well worth the trip. Placing ourselves in the waiter's hands, we found our table quickly full of leitão assado, french fries, and salad, accompanied with the local sparkling white wine, espumante da Barraida. With crispy outer skin and melt-in-your-mouth delicious meat, the meal was one of our favourites of the entire trip. Perhaps this also had something to do with the desserts, flan in ice-cream form and crema catalana, nothing short of sublime. Well worth the effort to find it!!!
