During my sister in laws 50th birthday trip to northern Italy we attempted as many gelato places as possible, sometimes 2 per day. Gelateria del Borgo is truly amazing and in our top 3 for the entirety of the trip. Usually very busy but the line moves quickly. Super nice staff and plenty of seating just across. Most gelatos in this part of Italy are more soft and airy this specific gelato is rich and creamy, almost wet. Pistachio is great, dark chocolate is awesome and unique flavors like Toblerone the family loved. Highly recommend. Make the walk to the top and don't have the tourist trap gelato at the bottom of the promenade here in Bellagio. read more

During the few days we spent in Lake Como, we visited Gelateria del Borgo TWICE which should tell you just how much we loved this place! Definitely our favorite out of the ones we tried in the area. This gelato spot is very centrally located amongst all the other small shops and restaurants in Bellagio and even if there's a line, it moves quick! The hazelnut (nocciola) is a MUST TRY as it literally tastes like a Ferrero Rocher in gelato form. We enjoyed other flavors as well including the cherry (amarena). read more

Still my favorite gelato spot to this day! The pistachio is unmatched & their nocciola (hazelnut) is also incredible. They recommend the vanilla & lemon - vanilla's always vanilla to me lol, but the lemon is super refreshing. It's a tiny place & there's always a long line, but it's worth the wait. Very affordable, with large portions per scoop. Located at the very top of Bellagio, so be ready to get your steps in! read more

Best gelato on the touristy side of Bellagio near the ferry terminals! And also the cheapest! Skip all the gelato places along the ferry terminals when you get to Bellagio and save your stomach for this place! Go up Salita Serbelloni (the famous staircase in Bellagio) and turn left towards the hotel Residence la Limonera, and across from that hotel is the Gelateria del Borgo. The flavors here are rich and unique, and the texture is very smooth/creamy and not runny (unlike the other gelato places near the pier). And the price is unbeatable -- when we went in early Oct. 2025 it was only 3 euros for 2 scoops of gelato in a cup OR cone! And 4 euros for 3 scoops in cup or cone. (And 5 euros for 4 scoops.) All the other gelato places at the bottom of Salita Serbelloni along the ferry terminals were all 4 euros for only 1 scoop in a cup. (And they didn't taste as good as Gelateria del Borgo.) My personal favorite flavors: dark chocolate, dark chocolate with orange, pistachio, hazelnut, caramel & biscoff, pear (tastes like an Asian pear in ice cream form!), passionfruit (very tart if you like tart). (I tried other flavors as well, like vanilla & cherry, straciatella, biscoff without the caramel, etc.) Unfortunately this place does not allow you do "samples" before you buy, so you just have to buy. After discovering this place, I went back 6-7 times within 4 days, lol. My friend who tried coffee, tiramisu, and fig, absolutely loved hers too. Service staff are always very friendly, especially the two young ladies who are always there in the afternoon and evening, and the older gentleman who's there in the evenings around closing time who I think is the one who makes the gelato. He said the fruit-based gelato are made from fresh fruit, and pear is the most interesting one (and also not available every day). He says the pistachio, chocolate, etc. are flavors that are available in every gelato shop but his shop stands out for the pear and some of the other flavors (like the caramel & biscoff the next day!). (His personal favorites were the pear and lemon.) Lines can get very long but they're usually quick, unless customers in front of you take a long time to decide what they want, lol. read more

As we were walking through the upper town, we happened upon this place that had a line. We decided to continue our stroll and come back. Upon our return, there wasn't a line and we placed our order. The image below is what was called a cupcake that was premade in the counter case. We also ended up getting a medium cup with three flavors. We spent the day wandering the alleys and climbing the hills of Bellagio. In search of delicious gelato, we found Gelateria del Borgo. We sat outside after ordering our gelato in a cone. Wow, it was rich, creamy, and delicious. I ordered Limoncello gelato, it truly tasted just like a sip of Limoncello, loved each lick. Mr. Bee ordered a dark chocolate gelato, and of course, I snuck a few bites. It too was rich, chocolatey, and absolutely scrumptious. If you find yourself in Bellagio, you must go. Not as good as our experience at Gelateria Lariana in Como, but enough to satisfy our sweet tooths after climbing up all the steps to get to the top of Bellagio. Our daughter got a vanilla and Kinder on a cone, and one of us got half straciatella/half something else she's forgetting because the gelato isn't all that memorable. The other one of us got half limoncello/half something else also unremarkable. The gelato is fine, but wasn't as ethereally creamy as Lariana. Our major complaint is actually that portions are kinda skimpy in comparison to other places, but we did enjoy everything fine enough. 3.5 stars, rounding down, but you wouldn't be disappointed if you went here--you might just wish they gave you more gelato! Superb Gelato in a little shop on one of the main "streets" running parallel to the water but on the hill. After a long day of exploring on a hot day we need a treat and this place was perfect. Unlike some of the chain joints, their flavors seemed a bit more authentic and less mass-produced. This place is pretty small and easy to miss (look for open doors and sign above). They have tons of flavors including some I hadn't seen before like biscotti. As with all these type places there are three sizes of both cups and cones and each order consists of up to 3 different flavors. Prices are good too- small 2€, medium 2.5€. They have a lot of flavors of gelato and very nice people that serve it . There is also a nice bench to eat it on as well as tables outside.

We love that you can pick 2 flavors with just on scoop. They serve larger portions here. We fell in love with the malaga, salted caramel, banana and hazelnut varieties. One star off for closing early after we had climbed all the stairs to get to them. They usually close about 7:30 in October, so don't let the hours on their Yelp page fool you! read more

This gelateria has been here for over 5 years and they have creamy, homemade gelato in a variety of flavors. It's located on the highest street in Bellagio, so you'll have to do a little bit of stair climbing to get here if you are coming from the port. My favorite treats are their frozen meringue/gelato desserts that are located in a freezer to the right of the ice cream when you enter the store. Definitely a must visit if you're in Bellagio and on the hunt for good gelato. read more
