Once you get in, it's old school KC art deco in every detail, which honestly is kind of nice and enjoyable to take in. On the pro side of things you've got charm, you've got plenty of seats in the house, and it's a nice place to take in a show. On the negative side the restrooms are small and outdated, the seats super sardined in by modern standards, and no really great set up for a bar or merch table. It all feels sort of ad-hoc since when this place was built it wasn't really built for those sort of modern conveniences. Overall it's a cool spot by historic standards, but by modern standards it's not my favorite venue in town.

There were many savory and sweet snacks available for free. Parking is available out back for a fee or you can fine a free spot on the street out back like we did.

It's not really family-oriented and maybe that's the old man in me, but I don't think I'm alone. Parking stinks, but if you're Uber-ing, then great. Other than that, you're walking. Pricing is fine and most of the restaurants and bars' service is what it is: spotty. That's more of a restaurant to restaurant thing than it is P&L, but just know that your choices are wild cards. I would say that although you can bring children here, the puzzles are geared more toward adults due to their complexity and where things are physically placed (higher than waist level for some). Children can still enjoy the whimsy/weird interactive environment and play in the arcade though. You could spend a whole day here if you wanted to be a completionist and read every single clue to complete the puzzles correctly, or choose to skip the puzzles altogether and spend about 3 hours just going through all the different rooms and watching their small performances (a couple dancers, an aerial silk artist, a saxophone player). Your experience could be greatly affected depending on how busy it is though, since the puzzle stations often require each person to spend some time there, creating a line of people waiting to use the station. My wife and I took a friend from out of town to see Trey Anastasio as he played with the Kansas City Symphony. He mentioned from the stage several times how impressed he was with the symphony and the pristine sound in the hall. The concert was fantastic as they played Trey's arrangements of his music. They did an excellent job, of course. We've heard them play everything from Handel's Messiah to Mahler's fifth Symphony, and a ton of music that is incredibly beautiful and very difficult. These scores were not super difficult, but they sure were entertaining. Our community is blessed to have such an incredibly talented Orchestra!

A couple of times we unexpectedly weren't able to attend, and the box office staff were extremely courteous and prompt in helping with ticket exchanges. Whether you're a symphony fan or just enjoy music in general, this is absolutely worth experiencing at least once.

Now cinema magic. No matter the seat you purchase, you've got a nice view. Ours were the Adirondack Chairs but I think the Adirondack Love Seat option might be cool too. It's first come, first-served seating. Your chair has a seat cushion with a headrest pillow. You receive your own headset for movie sounds upon Checkin. You can order from the menu right from your seat, at the bar or box office. Prior to your movie there's pre show content and trivia and even karaoke. Music is playing over the rooftop sound system. Single chairs were on right side of the aisles and love seats on the left facing the movie wall. The menu includes snacks, movie candy, mocktails or cocktails, choose your mood.. mine was "Am I the Drama?" AND it was drama compliant! The popcorn was really good, no messy butter, it's already pooped in. Pricing for things matches what you see at Dine n Movies elsewhere. I loved the whole experience. All movie staffers were friendly & helpful. We came early , like around the time of movie before ours - SINNERS, but staff were pretty cool about it! One of bartenders Rolando checked on us and was even kind enough to be our photographer. Enjoy the rooftop vibes, be careful stepping around as well. Movie time. At some points during our movie you could hear city sounds that were really loud like sirens or loud cars but overall the movie sound headphones were good. We had our own blankets so we were comfy and they have some for purchase. We did have a wait on our snack order so I went to get it at Box Office before the movie started.
