The two most important qualities of being a good wedding DJ are being knowledgeable of different genres of music, and being able to read a room and adjust as necessary. Mike from Gemini DJ posses neither of these qualities. His level of unprofessionalism is something I never have experienced before. We had multiple meetings with Mike over a span of 10 months, and explained in detail our family likes to dance, play xyz, and yet wound up with a party where GUESTS ACTUALLY LEFT EARLY bc his music was boring and no one could dance. He told multiple guests, in a rather rude tone, "don't take song requests from people who aren't paying me". We paid to have the percussionist there because i've seen at other weddings they walk the dance floor and interact with the guest, this is not an experience you will get with gemini. the percussionist sat stationary in a corner, if i had wanted a stationary band i would of hired a band instead of a DJ. Gemini approached us prior to the wedding starting requesting the timeline be adjusted for the evening so that cake, bouquet and garter were all done at the same time, we did not want our party stopped for cake, but at the beginning of the party agreed bc it didn't seem like it would be much of a interruption. it became clear why they wanted to make this change, so they could get an extended break in the middle of the wedding to sit in the corner on their phones. i think out of the 4 hours of reception that music was played, they played dance music for about 45 minutes. and that was after we had to tell them multiple times. He shows up with a large team that's completely unnecessary, he - the MC- didn't speak more than 20 words the entire night, they have 1 person who does lights aka sits in the corner on his phone all night, and another person who also sits on their phone all night(still have no idea what his purpose was) . my advice for anyone stuck in a contract with this DJ would be 1) don't work with the owner of the company Mike and 2) provide them a detailed timed out list of every single song they needs to play, they cannot pick music. and don't allow them to bring additional people that aren't necessary. You must provide them with the timeline and allow for no exceptions because they will adjust cake / bouquet toss to maximize their break time. read more

Played some awful music to the point people started leaving early because this guy had no rhythm or vibe/beat in order to make you want to dance. He was not a very good MC. He accepted cash from my guests for song requests he did not play. Very unprofessional and rude to my guests. Kevin Kacmarcik did our wedding video and the picture quality was extremely poor. It's highly likely their camera malfunctioned during the wedding. The first version of the video looked like it was a broken TV. When I pointed this out to Kevin he acted surprised, but all of our friends who watched it were immediately shocked by the bad quality. If he reviewed the footage prior to sending the video to us, Kevin himself should have realized the footage quality was poor. In the final product (which we received more than five months later) there was a reddish tint throughout much of the video and the video was blurry. See the photos I attached. Gemini did our wedding at the Manor in West Orange this past July. Mike was our DJ and we could not be happier with his professionalism and dedication to making sure all of our needs and requests were met. He stayed in constant contact with us and even went as far as planning two live performance surprises for me during the reception as a gift from my husband. We not only booked them as a DJ, we also got the step and repeat back drop which I have added photos of. What was great about that is its a bit classier than the new traditional photo booth which can only squeeze 3 people. These are professional photos taken in front of our personalized backdrop. In the end we got a disk of all the photos taken and hundreds of keepsake photos that are printed on the spot for you and your guests to take home as a keepsake gift which we provided frames for. We also got fog for the dance floor, a great DJ display with 2 flat screens that played a slide show of 80 photos during the reception as well as white drapery around the entire room which reflected out up lights beautifully. I couldn't have been happier with the look and feel of the room when it was revealed for me for the first time when we were introduced as husband and wife. Thank you Mike and Gemini for your wonderful job. Everyone had a great time and the dance floor was never empty. One last thing to add...don't book any of your other vendors until you check out Gemini studios. We get discounts at some of their other vendors as well. Gemini Productions is, to put it simply, IT. Anthony and Mike (P) Emcee'd/DJ'd our wedding in June and absolutely ROCKED the place. They were incredible. They had everything we wanted (down to the photo booth and smoke machine), provided it all, and did everything with such class. Anthony was available for any questions or concerns we had, worked with my husband and I on all the music, entrances, and themes we wanted, and when it came to make it all real, they did not disappoint. It's inexpressibly unfortunate that the video she has to remember her precious moments are unprofessionally BLURRY, in addition to being tinted RED throughout. They took our money before COVID and when the laws came that we could not have a wedding they refused to refund us. Their response was take us to court and if you win we will report bankruptcy. I would not ever recommend anyone work with people like this. read more

We loved mtg with them and will be having the owner as our MC. They can fit into whatever style your event is and have a client portion to their website for you to input special songs, requests and a do not play list. They have a wide variety of lighting options as well. We went with 25 led uplights that will be linked to do a customized slow roll. We also did intelligent dance floor lighting with 4 heads mounted on an 8 ft truss system and uplit DJ booth. They were flexible with their pricing and easy to negotiate with. Damn. That's how I'll start this review. Is zero stars not possible? Damn. What an absolute rip off, and that's only if I take money into account. Money aside, this is the most unprofessional, unprepared, and downright disrespectful group of "DJs" I have ever dealt with in my entire life. It's actually hard to believe they have a "business". Do you guys have time? I have time. Let me tell you about my experience. The first time I dealt with this "DJ" was scary from the beginning. Very outdated flo-rida and pitbull was blaring through the speakers at alarming volumes at a brunch. It's 2021. After all the guests started realizing we were 20 years behind the times, I approached the "DJ" and asked him to play something current. He was highly offended, rude and proceeded to play some more horribly outdated music from 2010. Clearly zero knowledge of music, yet calls himself a "DJ". Bizarre. If you want the jersey shore from 15 years ago, this is your company. But honestly, music taste is subjective so I won't even hold their lack of music knowledge against them. Let's talk about everything else. Let's talk about the fact the "DJ" disappears from the DJ booth to stand by the bar for hours and get drunk while on the clock. He will tell you he was using the bathroom. Let's talk about the fact the "DJ" doesn't tape down wires so guests trip, hurt themselves, and break speakers. Let's talk about the fact the "DJ" totally butchers any MC responsibilities he has. Let's talk about the fact the "DJ" is totally incapable of keeping things on schedule (probably because he's getting drunk.) Or maybe let's talk about the fact the "DJ" talks back extremely aggressively to paying customers about how he's done 3000 weddings and goes on and on about how long he's been doing this and how much of a professional he is. Yikes. Quick tip that has worked well for me in life - Shut your mouth and do your job. This a VERY whiny group of immature, possibly alcoholic (disappear to the bar constantly) group of "DJs" who are totally incapable of doing their job and following direction. The lack of care, preparation, and professionalism was extremely disappointing and borderline offensive. Every client should matter and that is not how they operate. They can respond to this review however they see fit but the facts are the facts. Please beware of these guys. They don't care about music, they don't care about you and they don't care about the safety of your guests or the experience they will have. These guys were the best DJ's and music production company we've ever worked with. We just had our daughters Quinceanera party and Mike and his team worked with us to plan out a very traditional and authentic Cuban evening of ceremony; blessings, music etc... Prices were reasonable, we also had a piano player for the cocktail hour Gene who was terrific. Loved how accommodating these guys were in every step of the process. We also had a very fun and playful mirror photo booth that our guests really enjoyed. We literally danced for 4+ hours. My guests even commented that they've never been to an affair where just about everyone regardless of age was on the dance floor! Can't wait to work with these guys again. Let me start by saying that this company came highly recommended by several family members and close friends. I am not sure if my high expectations are what caused my ultimate disappointment in the service. DJ Mike P was the DJ at my event and I would not recommend him AT ALL. He made comments about me not being helpful and providing him with an ample playlist of songs for my event. I sent an e-mail a few days prior to the event with several artists I listen to, as well as requests my quests asked for. To his credit, he played them all... one right after another, at the start of the party, or while we were eating. While eating, Mike disappeared for 15-20 minutes. We saw him walk down from a second floor room (not part of our event) with phone in head. He also disappeared several more times for 10-15 minute increments throughout the party and the head hostess of the party found him in a back room, sitting down, on the phone. When he was at his DJ booth, he was on his phone sitting down. He made limited attempts to get my guests up and dancing, and provided a lovely attitude when we asked him to switch up the music. The ongoing joke with my guests is to now post social media pictures of my guests behind the DJ booth pretending to DJ since Mike was no where to be found. At one point the music was so loud, guests were actually leaving the room because they could not even hear one another when speaking. Mike made no effort to interact with the guests. He also used the wrong name, several times, when introducing me... In all fairness, I did e-mail the Director of Services, who assured me he would speak to the DJ. read more

We used Gemini Productions for a photobooth that we had at a birthday party. Before booking, they gave the whole sales pitch and promised that they'd bring a ton of props for the theme, a full gold back drop and make a photo album book (if I bought an album). When the worker set up the booth, the photos were in such poor quality and the gold back drop I requested barely fit in the background. The worker sat on his phone the whole party and was not a help one bit! I ended up having to make the photo album and get people to use the booth. I regret even having one at the party because of all the work I had to do. All this company wants is your money. We used Gemini a few times for parties, and most recently in early December 2021, and they were not good at all. They didn't play our request, staff showed up late (and then appeared to be rushing), we paid a ton of money for what seemed like DJ's and photographers working for the first time. They were terrible. A lot of lackluster preparation and no attention to details we discussed prior to party. So many other better, more inexpensive DJ company out there. Please do yourself a favor and skip right over this company. Not up with the times, current music, and it's probably because the DJ we had was very older, not young and hip. They gave us somewhat of what appeared to be a "deal", but the money was not worth what we got for our wedding. We expected a lot more and got a lot less. All they seemed to care about was collecting the money. We called to complain and were completely brushed off. They did not offer any sort of refund or compensation for adequate complaints. I had Mike P DJ for my sweet 16. I had very high expectations as Gemini Productions was highly recommend to me. Every meeting we had, Mike was so rude and didn't want to hear any of my opinions on the song choices I wanted him to play for my party. He assured me he knew what type of music I wanted. When the day came it was a huge disappointment. I paid extra for special lights and he assured me he knew the venue very well as he was the house DJ. When I arrived at my party the lights were too big for the venue and instead of looking down on the dance floor it was lying on the ground. When I had the father-daughter dance I specifically told him to cut the music short and he wasn't even looking at me while the dance was going on. He was constantly on his phone and kept disappearing for large intervals. He didn't play the songs I requested and was very uptight when my guests suggested a song. Afterwards he gave me a stack of business cards to hand out for recommendations. I would NOT recommended Mike P for ANY event. I paid close to $2000 and did NOT receive the service I was promised. I could of done a better job at song choices if I plugged my playlist into a speaker on shuffle. Do NOT waste your money on this disgrace of a "DJ" pff if you would even consider him a DJ. read more

Our experience in meeting with Mike Albanese who seemed to be the manager was a positive one. Upon booking, a year before our wedding date, Mike met with us in person and we discussed our needs in regards to package and music genres and selections. Mike was professional and knew not to push too hard as we were having a small wedding and only wanted a basic package. It felt great being respected and not having to worry aggressive salesmen. We were also happy to know that we would be matched with a bilingual DJ as we were going to have many Latin songs played during our event. However, when we had our "final meeting" and meet our actual DJ we were placed with Mike P - someone who is not bilingual and even suggested that we provide him with all latin songs for our event. His reasoning for this was that "because he doesn't speak spanish, he won't know when an artist curses in a song and would not be able to bleep it out." Last time we checked, if we are paying $1,500 for a DJ, they should be willing and able to provide music for the event. If they do not speak the language and are nervous about "curse words" perhaps they can consult with a colleague or use Google Translate. Also, when reviewing our questionnaire with us, he was extremely insensitive to some of our answers. For example, when announcing us as a newlywed couple during our intro, we specified that we would prefer he announce us as "the Bride and Groom" as last names would not be changing. Mike P. was very opinionated and called our decision "strange" and justified this by stating "women typically normally only keep their last names when they become doctors." We were less than impressed and quite nervous after meeting with Mike P... Thankfully, we reached out to Michael Albanese (manager), expressed the need to have a bilingual DJ, and he hooked us up with RICH was was THE BEST DJ WE COULD OF EVER ASKED FOR. Rich was so nice and friendly, we met the DAY of our wedding and he introduced himself, went thru a short run through of the series of events, PLAYED THE MOST AMAZING MUSIC and had everyone on the floor ALL day long. We felt so comfortable with Rich and he was quick in anticipating the crowd and knew just what to play to keep people on the floor. He played an awesome mix of salsa, merengue, contemporary, and some great oldies as well. My uncle even requested a very hard to find salsa song on the spot and Rich was able to pull it up and play it for him. It was a small gesture but it meant ALOT to him and for that I am so grateful. Thank you Mike Albanese for your terrific managerial talents in getting us a DJ that understood our needs and a big thank you to Rich for being awesome. We would give 5 stars but our meeting with Mike P. was quite distressing. He really needs to be more sensitive to clients and be aware that some of his comments are offensive. It is 2017, and if a woman wants to keep her last name, she does not need to be a doctor. This is my second review of Gemini Productions. I had said in my last review, 4 years ago, that we would use them for my second daughter's Bat Mitzvah and we just did this past Saturday. We took a chance that the second time around might not be as good as the first - but it was worth the risk...Gemini staff hit a home run again!!! We loved our DJ, MC, photo booth operator and dancer! They were so sweet, attentive and amazing with the teens!!! Evan is incredibly nice, has boundless energy and runs a beautifully timed party. The kids listened to his every word. Pleasing both kids and adults at Bar/Bat Mitzvahs can be a huge challenge, but the staff did a great job! I asked the DJ to adjust the volume several times (up or down) because I had some adults in the crowd who had health issues that made the loud music uncomfortable for them, but we still wanted the kids to dance. The DJ worked with me to try to strike the right balance. We really appreciated his gracious attention. Francesca got the kids dancing with her and both boys and girls were having the best time on the dance floor! She was also helping my daughter during the candle-lighting ceremony. Honestly, Francesca was helping all around the party doing different things and she really never stopped moving! She was so sweet, too. Kevin was awesome at managing the photo booth and there was a constant flow of happy teens! In addition to the party activities, we enjoyed the beautiful lighting that Gemini supplied all around the room. The kids loved their props and giveaways. Their staff was well prepared ahead of our crowd's arrival. And they were punctual and diligent in setting up and breaking down the party. We had Anthony as our DJ for our wedding in October 2016 at the Old Tappan Manor. What a great experience! You should definitely use Gemini for your event!! From our first meeting at their studio, after discussing only a few music preferences, we felt with confidence that Anthony totally understood what we wanted to hear on our wedding day. If you feel, like we do, that the music and DJ involvement can make or break a wedding vibe, you won't be disappointed!! The music was amazing - so matched to our preferences that it was as if my iTunes was on shuffle. We had a great crooner/coffee house vibe for cocktail hour, then a lively 90s-00s party on the dance floor. Anthony was not overbearing in any way - not a mic hog or one of those awkward DJs that makes your guests feel uncomfortable. Our friends and family were so impressed. We opted for a very classic look, which they were able to accommodate with a discrete DJ table set up. They definitely do offer some intricate lighting packages and extras if that is what you are looking for! We also had Gemini provide the photo booth for our wedding. It was awesome - the booth was really large to allow a dozen of us to squeeze in at a time! We also requested that they leave one side of the booth open so that we could peek over to see what craziness was happening. They provided a great selection of props. You can select a strip with 3 poses and a wedding logo or 4 poses with no logo with two prints per session and a digital log which we will be getting access to. read more

Maybe if they met up with us earlier than 2 weeks before our wedding things would have went right. Alfredo seemed great at first but did not do the job we asked him to do. If he would have simply let us preview what we asked him to play, it could have avoided the disaster of djing he did. Gemini missed the mark. We used Gemini for our recent wedding and anniversary celebration. We'd rate them average. There were many elements they were involved in and responsible for during both the Ceremony and Reception portions of our event (video montages, etc.), and although we reviewed with them many many times and for several months, they ultimately got it about half-right. We also had a problem with them showing up on-time at the venue as agreed to for the weekend event. Their no-show was pretty scary and anxiety filled for several hours but they did in fact finally arrive and able to start on-time. They performed their own set list of average wedding songs which was far different than what we provided and planned and discussed with them for several months. We were very disappointed and far from the wow factor we thought we'd get for the price we paid. Out guests danced the night away - but it was all as a result of the crowd and definitely not the music. Gemini gets a B-/C+ for doing a very typical and average job. read more

I should have known right then and there not to sign a contract with this place. I figured by talking to this guy who was going to be the dj we would come to an understanding on what music my husband and I wanted. This is where we were wrong!!!! I stayed up until 1 am making a playlist for this guy with absolute detail. We spoke two or three times on the phone regarding what type of music we wanted played, specific songs, and how we wanted to have a club vibe. So I thought that my dj and I were on the same page. We had good conversations, so I thought, and it seemed like this guy would be fine. When it came to the night of the wedding, he played mostly Spanish music all night long (NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR), which I was mortified at considering my husband's family is Italian and I didn't want them to think I was leaving them out of the festivities. He played two club songs (NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR) when we specifically asked for a club vibe ALL NIGHT long. One club song he played while everyone was at cocktail hour, and the other club song was played at the end of the reception when the venue was breaking things down and people were leaving. I had several family members that requested music and to change the genre, I (the bride) went up to him, my husband and several other guests. HE NEVER PLAYED ANYTHING WE ASKED FOR EVEN THOUGH MY HUSBAND AND I PAID FOR THIS SERVICE!! PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STEER CLEAR!!!! This was our venues in house dj and it is a shame. I was convinced that they must be pretty good, right? 96 reviewers couldn't be wrong. Well, while the cost was lower than everyone else $1795 for 2 Djs wasn't cheap either. Kevin Kacmarcik did our video a couple of years ago. Each anniversary when we go to watch it, I am reminded of what a bad choice that was. The color is grainy, it is tinted red and yellow throughout. Additionally, the editing was done poorly: important moments were missed or edited out. I asked for a specific song to be in the background and he chopped the song up to make it match up to less footage. It looks like an 80's wedding video because of the terrible quality. We decided to go with Gemi for our DJ and our Videographer. The DJ who we met with (owner) said he would be our DJ, then without notice they sent a different guy. Fine ok, but at least let us know. He wasn't bad and besides the change of plans, he was ok. But our problem was with the Videographer Kevin, which was a nice guy and whatever, but when he showed us samples of his work, it looked crisp and clear and when I asked him he said he only shot in 1080p Full HD(bullshit) I decided for him to only shoot video and give us all the raw footage so we could edit our own video. And either this guy has no idea what 1080p Full HD means or they switched the camera he was gonna use. Because the footage was TERRIBLE QUALITY! it was 720p which should look good too if the guy cared about lighting or anything. But either his camera was old and a piece of shit or he didn't care what it looked like. It was grainy and dark and just looked unprofessional as far as the quality. His shots and angles where fine to say the least, But with such horrible quality, whats the use. We could have just had someone shoot it with a $300 camera from Best Buy and it could have looked the same or better. You come to places like this to get professional quality Video, But that's not even close. We were very disappointed and would never recommend them to anyone at least for Video. read more
