I think they are quite expensive really considering that I didn't think my manicure was very good. They over filed my nails and cut the skin under my thumb which left it quite sore. The manicurist was very chatty though and the general service was quite nice, with lots of choice of nail polishes etc, but for me I prefer a more gentle approach so I will be trying other places.

Depending on how much of a nail freak you are, you can have a quick and simple 10 minute treatment, or a long 1 hour treatment. Prices start at £15 for a short treatment up to £75 for 'everlasting polish' (Hmmm...). I enjoyed my treatments with Nails Inc. although I always find that manicures ruin my nails in the long run (I think its messing with the cuticle which for all intents and purposes, is there for a reason!) but I enjoyed the hand massage and paraffin treatment for softness. There is a nice range of products to go with the brand too. What I didn't like is that the treatments are expensive - £15 is for the most basic of basic file, polish and go which feels hardly worth it. Also there is some hard sell. Consultants try to sell you a loyalty card where you get a free treatment but only if you pay upfront for 4 other treatments. Also, there is some of the 'your nails look brittle you could do with ......... product! - my nails can pull out drawing pins out of concrete so brittle they are not). It is a lovely little convenient stall though you could get treatments cheaper elsewhere.

I was first introduced to Bella Spa a few years ago by a friend who regularly gets her nails done here. I used to get my nails done regularly too but at present I tend to go when I have a special occasion. I prefer Gellish to Shellac as in my opinion they tend to last longer. They always have a wonderful selection of colours to choose from. Angela and her staff are fantastic, I thoroughly enjoy my visits. You can even take your own bubbly with you and they'll provide you with glasses! The location is perfect, just behind Primark so it's very central. The building doesn't look like a spa from the outside but once you get inside that changes immediately. It's appointment only so make sure you ring before you go.

So I decided to treat myself to getting my nails done. I decided on The Powder Room as its local to…read moreme and have heard good things. I have had trouble with acrylics in the past in that the tips that are glued on tend to ping off as they are more curved than my nail beds and don't adhere properly. The beauty (pun intended) here is that they don't use said precut tips. Nails are sculpted with white and pink acrylic powder which is done so very deftly, it looks like child's play, which I'm pretty certain it isn't. The ladies are both lovely, welcoming and friendly, and chatting felt in no way scripted like it can in some places (Special occasion /going on holidays/weather etc) it felt like having a natter with an old friend. Very impressed with the results, the price and the service and they have a new regular customer. They may only be small and independent but they've got it nailed (see what I did there?) I've already recommended them to a few of my friends. UPDATE Just a week after getting my acrylics done the one on my pinky snapped off. Gave them a call and they fitted me in an hour later for a free repair. Can't get better than that for service! Utterly brilliant!

The lady who did my nails was friendly and chatting throughout, but without being boring and asking the predictable hairdresser-like questions. They lasted quite a while. Would definately have the treatment done again. I then rang up for some hair extension's. Same again I was really pleased with the end result. I got Shellac nails done here but unfortunately the quality of the…read moretreatment was the lowest amoung all nail salons I've been to so far, in that there was no buffing, cuticle work or much filing at all. The nail technician just brushed my nails over with the back of a nail file as if to "buff" them which was sore, and then just did the polish without any further nail work. I've been to other salons around Blackpool where they do a lot more nail work such as properly filing, buffing and cuticle cutting, and charging the same amount. The online reviews were good but I was disappointed with the quality of the treatment. Another thing is that their opening hours seem incorrect; it says on the door and their website that they open until 8pm or 9pm Weds-Fri and until 3pm on Saturday, but when I went in they are actually only open from 9-5pm except Thursday, and close by 12pm on Saturday. The staff were all very friendly, which leads me to give 3 stars, but incorrect opening hours on the site and treatment quality has led me to deduct 2 stars.
