Called Allmans, they spoke with them which calmed them for a minute or two. Years later we are still dealing with the poor installation (the carpet is great, but it buckles due to their horrible work). The wood floors upstairs were split between one good installer and one of the Allman sons. He clearly wanted to be somewhere else. Once he was done with the job, he swept all the dust and leftover pieces into the middle of the room and left. We thought he was coming back. Two days and a few phone calls later we cleaned it up ourselves. Maybe they've improved by now. I'm not going to take that bet to find out.

I reached out to him with a stair project this summer since I've used him before. I sent him several pictures and he quoted me $1,250. The day he arrived to do the job, he increased the price to $2,400. When I turned him down, he reduced it to $1,900. Since I was anxious to get the job done, I agreed to the price. He came back the following day, Demanding half up front (I paid him $1,000). He worked for about an hour, left his tools and went to "get supplies" promising he'd be back that afternoon. He never returned. He then committed to come on July 3rd, and never showed up. When I expressed my frustration and asked for a refund of my deposit, he said "If I can't get it done Monday, July 5th, I'll refund your money." He showed up on Monday July 5th at 7:30AM, I thought to do the work, but all he did was pack up his tools and was gone by 7:45AM. When I questioned him, he said "I'm running to get supplies." He had already been to the site 3 times, including the day he increased the price. When I asked for my promised refund, when he didn't complete the job by July 5th (he actually didn't even start the job) he told me "deposits are non-refundable." I reminded him of his commitment to refund my money and he he old me I was "being difficult." After calling him again and again, he promised to come on Saturday, July 10th. I text him the day before (Friday) to confirm he would be coming to complete the job and he replied "I will be there in the morning." At this point, I shouldn't have been surprised that he never showed up. This was the FIFTH time I had taken time off work to be home, and Mike never showed. He has since ignored all texts and phone calls. Once I asked him to stand True to his word and refund my deposit, he quit replying. There are other reviews, including reviews on Google from users sharing similar experiences. Ir appears Mike is nor registered to do business in the State of Utah. The only address listed for MVP Flooring Installations is not a valid address, meaning no such house exists. By searching his telephone number, (832) 310-3757 , I came across this Yelp business page and felt it necessary to leave this review. It appears this business once had a Facebook page (I found results in a google search), but that page has since been deleted. I have filed a complaint with the Utah Department of Commerce. I feel it necessary to warn other consumers against using this company. I thought paying half up front was reasonable, I had no idea he would show up to collect the money, and leave moments later. I am happy to share screen shots Of our conversations and security camera footage of all of my claims and let you draw your own conclusion.

We had an excellent experience with Utah Basements this past year. They completed our unfinished…read morebasement with 2 bedrooms, large living area, exercise room, utility room, linen closet, under the stairs closet, and full bath. They were able to schedule us immediately once we received all the bids, and the project took roughly 9 weeks from start to final walkthrough. Utah Basements was the second highest bid received, partly because they did not do the flooring (which we got through RC Willey). Communicating with Todd was very convenient, and he responded quickly to text, email, and messages through the UBKB online client portal, where we formally documented design changes. Victor was on site most days and was extremely professional and very friendly. He answered all of our questions, gave helpful suggestions, and always contacted us when there was an issue or he needed direction. Once materials were in, the crew made fantastic progress framing, plumbing, and electrical. The rest of the process went very smoothly, with the minor exception that a bunch of paint touch ups were needed, but those were taken care of immediately. Overall we had a top-notch experience with Todd, Victor and UBKB, couldn't be happier with the final product, and would definitely recommend them if you need a basement finished!
