When my 3.5 year old son asked to go to the farm, I didn't find too many nearby that seemed to be open. I wasn't too sure about coming here since it's an hour away from us that it would be open, but sure enough, I called and it was until 7PM that day! I loaded up the car with lunch and snacks and headed to the greatest little farm you could ever imagine! This is a very intimate, family run farm that is off of a little dirt driveway. Drive slow or you could easily miss it! Parking is minimal, but free. There's no rides or attractions here; just a place to sit on the bench and feed the farm animals. If that's all you desire, then this is the place for you! My son has sensory issues, so coming here was one of the greatest day trips we've experienced to date. He was completely dressed from head to toe as a fireman, but that didn't stop him from running back and forth to feed the chickens, turkeys and the goats. The pigs were too busy snoozing, and the bunnies were hiding, so we didn't get to enjoy them this visit. I was told to bring quarters and I'm so glad we did. It was small enough for him to feel comfortable to get up close and personal to the animals, and for us to practice "gentle hands". My heart burst when the chickens were crowding around him, and he said, "Don't cry; I'm coming!" while cupping his little hands with feed. I wish we were closer; we'd come every weekend. We had the place to ourselves for about a half hour before another family came. This place thrives on the honor system, whereas you must bring exact change to purchase eggs, butters, maple syrup, honey, and even little toys. I dropped $20 easily with two dozen farm fresh eggs ($6 a dozen) and a jar of maple pumpkin butter that is to die for! My husband even bought a little toy chicken for his desk to have as a keepsake for this wonderful visit. I don't want to share this place with other people because it means so much to us now! What a great little farm! I live about 5 minutes away and drive past it all the time and finally stopped today with my niece and nephew. It's the perfect little stop when you're looking to do something low key. There were goats, bunnies, pigs and chickens. Bring quarters so you can buy animal feed from the dispensers to feed the animals. They were all so sweet and gentle with my niece and nephew. They also sell firewood, honey, jam and fresh eggs and berries when they're in season. Can't wait to stop back here again. read more

What a gem! We were searching for fresh farm eggs and came across Generation Pines. This wonderful farm runs on the honor system which blew my mind. It also doubles as a petting "zoo". Bring plenty of change so you can feed the goats and chickens! You can also see pigs and cows. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time there and now will be frequent visitors and buyers of their farm fresh goods. They just sell Eggs, Honey, and Firewood. And they also have like feeding/petting zoo thing for the kids. I have never been there but my parents told me that they go by the Honors systems. The guy has a table setup with honey and a fridge full of brown eggs. We have always past buy this place through the years we have lived in the are and finale my parents gave it a chance. They said when the owner realized they where new there, so he stopped his farming duties and came over to them and explained to them that he runs the place on a trust worthy proses where you just take what you need and leave the money in the basket. My dad told me he was a really nice guy and told him, his family has owned the farm since 1936. He also explained to my dad the softener in the honey...he said their was one that was more sweet then the other. Next time I need honey I'm def gonna check it out for myself. Took my toddler here this morning, what a great little farm! They allow you to feed their animals (bring quarters) and he couldn't have loved it more! They had pigs, cows, chickens, goats, etc. we were able to buy honey and eggs there too. We will definitely be back! read more

Great little family farm with (wait for it): a PETTING ZOO! That's right. You can come right up and put the goats who have their own little place at and not only that? You can hang with the cows and especially the chickens! We tend to buy all our eggs at this place. Don't forget to bring cash because they do not take credit cards and there are no tellers. It's a help yourself program based on the honor system.And don't forget to bring a bunch of quarters because they do have food dispensers right where the animals are and they love to be fed! Reasonable firewood (regular logs were $8/rack with varieties such as cherry for smoking priced at $13/rack), absolutely delicious eggs, and adorable animals for the family to feed - this place is awesome! Note the logs were stored outside and were fairly wet from recent rain showers when we purchased, so you may need some dry logs or starter fluid to get things cooking. Make sure you bring cash with exact change so you can leave your $ in the cash box as directed by the wood and eggs. As I fried these eggs I couldn't believe how healthy and orange the yolks were - these are truly free range and delicious for $4 a dozen! Thank you yelp for directing me to this place as I scrambled to find reasonable firewood for camping in Turkey Swamp. The campground office was charging $10/bundle for about 8 measly logs and this adorable farm was about 15 minutes driving distance . read more

The BEST eggs from the BEST local farm around. Generation Pines has been in business since 1935! We just discovered them after living here and passing their sign for over two decades (21 yrs to be precise)! How could we NOT know about this place? It's like having your own private petting zoo. The chickens have the run of the place and the numerous baby goats and pigs just make me smile. They will walk up to the fence so you can "pet" their little noses. We buy all our eggs here now, especially since GRASS FED/HORMONE FREE eggs are a staple of our daily diet. We also LOVE their honey (local made/bought honey helps with allergies). They also sell Honey Soap, although we have not tried that yet. And they actually sell potted pine trees, in case you were wondering about the "name". Payment is made via the "honor system" so bring change of a $20! And bring some quarters to "feed" the troops (they sell Goat-Chicken Chow for $0.25/handful). read more
