    "scrambled eggs"
    Giselle G.

The only good thing about this hostel is the location. The bathroom and toilet were filthy the whole time I was there (4 days) and not once did someone come to clean. They just change the bed when someone leaves. I had to tell reception 2 times to send someone to please clean the bathrooms and when they finally came just emptied the trash. Don't even bother eating their breakfast. On my last day I tried their scrambled eggs and they were like cardboard (like if they made it in the microwave). I for one wont be staying there again.

This hostel is a perfect proof that it's not enough that you have a tidy building with some cool-ish cartoon figures on the wall. Not if the staff is stiff or even impolite and the 4.5 EUR breakfast is made of the cheapest possible ingredients, the porridge isn't even thoroughly cooked and they have watered down the fresh juice in the juice machine. One morning we missed the breakfast time by one minute and the guy turned us away. It was disappointing but we were late, so ok. We thought we'd get some juice or tea from the machine at least since the food wasn't available and we still had paid 4.5 EUR for it beforehand. The guy shouted at us "Don't you guys speak English?! Don't you understand it's closed?!" and to be sure we understand, he shouted in Spanish as well. That was just unnecessarily impolite. So we left the juice we already took standing on the table. The room was clean and nice. But no matter if you have fancy hipster living room lounge downstairs and funny drawings on the wall to raise the coolness factor, I wouldn't return to this place nor recommend to any friend of mine. Because when you're on a holiday, you want to enjoy your stay. And this hostel staff failed miserably in creating a nice atmosphere, even in the reception during check in. They also try to sell you breakfast at the discount price of 4.5 EUR when you check in, otherwise it's 5.5 EUR. They only serve it until 10 and it's not worth it. Once you discover this at the first breakfast, you regret paying anything for it for the remaining days. Berlin is cheap when it comes to food so find a nice cafe instead. For a nice stay in Berlin, take your money elsewhere.

This spot was impressive. My first time at a hostel...and I would call it more of a hotel for groups. The place was very clean and had a cool flair. It's located in the old east Berlin and there's lots to do nearby. Couple of bars and restaurants close too. The bar in the hostel was surprisingly good on sat. The breakfast is 5.50 and isn't bad. The rooms were small but a great price for the 4 of us we had 4 beds and out own bath. I would definitely recommend this place!

Never mind the coffee…read more You are here for the garden. * * * Cafe Bravo is the museum cafe for the KW Institute for Contemporary Art. The KW Institute is small, so changing shows means shutting down the whole museum. But the garden stays open and that is all you care about. Don't expect fancy flowers and don't expect sculpture. Expect sunlight on whitewashed wood, greenery throughout, and the kind of gracious entryways that make for good watercolor paintings. The paintings in the institute itself might be nouveau-nouveau. The indoor restaurant for sure is nouveau-nouveau. The courtyard itself is old school. I spent hours there soaking up the rays and soaking up the visuals. The coffee was decent enough not to be a distraction.

Der uerspruengliche Kommentar: We went there yesterday, Sunday afternoon. Within 45 minutes we could not get a glass of wine and a ginger tea served. Waitress works totally unstructured, she takes orders from last arrivals and forgets the rest. We ask her several times to take our order. The busser was busy to flirt wit visitors instead of doing his job. Total lack of supervision. At the end we left without consuming anything because we did not got our beverages. Would I return? Certainly not. Service-free environments have little attraction to me.

I would like to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the so called "New Year party" on 31…read moreDecember 2014. 1) The place was said to be "am Potsdamer Platz". Well, it's not, it's about 600-700 m away. 2) The map on the ticket has shown a completely wrong place in Berlin (somewhere in suburb 15 km away!) 3) The queue... You've gotta be kidding me! There were, like 500 people in the queue, and more were coming and coming. 4) After the 1st queue to get the stamp on your hand, there was another queue to get into 5) After that - one more queue to leave the clothes in the garderobe which was extremely poorly organized - there was a chaos, useless students who were getting people's clothes and being extremely slow. The garderobe was in a lame plastic tent. 6) After that you end up in the yard! It was very cold. One more queue to enter the building. 7) Extremely many people inside. Huge and humiliating queues for the drinks and to the toilets (no, thanks) 8) The only thought I had is to at least get to the roof top, to see the fireworks, but nobody knew how. After a diligent search I've finally got to the entrance to the staircase, where I've been told this by a girl wearing a badge: - We are not allowed to take the stairs - The only way to get up is to take the elevator - Sorry, elevator is not working - No, she doesn't know when it's going to be fixed - No, there IS NO WAY UP My wife was even crying. The only thing left to do was to rush out as quickly as possible to get at least somewhere to see the fireworks. Unfortunately there was just 15 minutes left and the only place we could get to was Potsdamer Platz where we couldn't even see the "official" fireworks, because there are many high buildings around. Obviously, it was planned to happen like this by the organizers. They have sold too many tickets and the whole crowd would not fit on the roof (though, I've seen some shapes of the people there, so there obviously were some VIPs). I would be very happy if someone would file a lawsuit against them. Burn in hell, the organizers.
