So, I don't know where to start. We arrived later than check in, but called beforehand to ensure my friend and I would be in the same room because I have a disability. They refused us a shared room upon arrival and after arguing with the desk for 15min they magically were no longer "full" and had space to put us together. When we got to our room, our beds were occupied. Next, they do not have a microwave, fridge, or anyplace to eat outside food if an event is happening in the main lobby, like tonight. We were kicked out of the bar, no outside food (okay), but others were eating outside food and were not asked to leave. They also attempted to bribe us with writing a good review by supplying a free towel, really? This was a money hungry establishment that doesn't care if young travelers are spending a fortune attempting to explore new places. If you don't mind spending $50 for meals then this is a great place. If you want to save money and not get swindled by a hungry business. Spend a little more somewhere else.

Pretty impressed with Generator overall and I'd seek them out in other cities as well. Yes, it's a hostel but probably the nicest one I've stayed in and probably one of the most expensive as well. Now, I'm not saying it was as expensive as a hotel room but for December it ran $150 a night for a family room for 3 people. The only thing making it different from a hotel would be a TV and room cleaning with new towels daily. That's about it. The room was super clean and comfy. I probably had the best sleep of the entire 9-day trip while I was here. Yes!! Plugs and Internet? Every techie traveler needs both and it didn't disappoint. I think we counted 20+ outlets in our room. Seriously. The internet was dependable and super easy to access. That and cleanliness totally help me determine where to stay. There is a cafe/restaurant downstairs and we didn't buy our tokens ahead and figured we'd just pay full price. I am glad we didn't since we couldn't find anywhere to sit for quite a while and just gave up. Overall, a solid choice for anyone staying in Stockholm.

Perfect location. Rooms are spacious and it's a good atmosphere. Jennifer Harmida was at my arrival welcoming. It's a big hotel so the only point is, that I double payed a room and didn't received the money back, because they apparently first needed to ask their boss who never got in contact with me. But other than that, very good. read more

I think this is a good hostel in Stockholm, with a really good position, near the central station and the city center. The rooms are clean, welcoming and nice. In particular I loved the common space in the hall, full of games, fun, with a really nice pool table. read more

This was my first time staying at Generator Stockholm. I am not good at English, but the bar staff spoke to me in Japanese and slowly in English. He also encouraged me to interact with other guest who was studying Japanese. They gave me a very valuable experience and happy time. Thank you very much. Let's talk again together. If you want to meet new people and choose Generator Stockholm, the staff might be able to help you. read more

Customer service is horrible. Front desk people are rude and don't care. "Cafe" at the hotel was a joke. Didn't have anyone working it for over 30 min on a Friday night at 7:00 because the lady was "in the bathroom". Pillows and sheets stained. Food is horrible and "breakfast" is a joke. Key card stopped working almost every single day. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Such a great hostel! Great location, great staff (Cecilia!!!). Great food at the restaurant. Do ittttt
I did not know what to expect when booking a hostel, but it was beyond. We stayed for three nights, Thurs-Sun, and booked a private queen bed room. I came super early (only 10 min walk from the central station), and was able to check in to my room at 9am!! The front desk people were super friendly and helpful. The room was great, the bed was comfortable, they had towels and a clean shower (private), and huge windows with blackout curtains. We asked for new towels and a little cleaning on Saturday and they were happy to help, for the most part you don't get cleaning. I had to work from the room Thursday and Friday, and the room was big enough for me not to go crazy. It's also located near a lot of little restaurants you can grab food at. The price was super reasonable as well, overall a great place to pick when in Stockholm! read more

This is my second time staying at the Generator Stockholm (two summers in a row!) and it continues to be a fantastic decision. Cute, clean facilities + and restaurant in-house and a podcast studio space? And it's right next to the train station? What more could a digital nomad ask for? The folks at the front - Nhan and Ceci - were also incredibly helpful - they were willing to accommodate all of my last minute requests and were generally excellent! #GenLove read more

Once again, I have harsh standards when it comes to travel hotels. After all, I'm only looking for some place comfortable to sleep. Otherwise, I'm planning on going out and seeing the places I am in either alone or with family. First, the good: We had 4 people, and this came with a "double bed" which was actually 2 twin beds side by side with a small gap, and a set of bunk beds, which worked out for 4 adults. Wifi is good, which is also important for downtime. The bathroom sufficed, but more on that in the next section. The floor was quiet. I only remember hearing people walking in the room above me once. We were on the 7th floor. Service is great. They have a laundry room with 3 washers and dryers (one washer was out of service). You get coins at reception for the laundry. Instructions on how to run the washing machines and dryers were on the wall (in English). Breakfast is expensive, but hearty. The foccacia bread one is what I had on New Year's Day (because we weren't sure what was open and this was a guarantee). You pay the night before and choose the day of. It's a solid option, but not the least expensive one. People at the desk are friendly and even offered free coffee before breakfast opened. Second, what could be improved: The light in the bathroom is on a motion detector timer. I didn't stopwatch-check it, but it seemed to last 23-24 seconds, then the light goes out and you have to raise your arm. This is bad when you're on the toilet, but even more disheartening inside the shower with the curtain closed. Beds work, they're a little hard, but I found that to be pretty common everywhere we stayed in Scandinavia. The pillows are tiny squares, though, and they are just okay. Laundry says it's open from 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. which kind of sucked since we were awake at 5 a.m. on New Year's Day, but they did open it around 6:15, which was cool. No TV in the room, which wasn't a real big deal, but sometimes when you're in a new country, it's interesting to see what they show on the local networks. Summary: A decent place to stay, within walking distance to all of Stockholm (if you're willing to walk 40 minutes at the most, 20 minutes was more average for us), and only about a 9 minute walk to the Arlanda Express train to the airport. read more

Hip. Sexy. Savvy. Smart. I stayed at a hotel next door and I would always see a packed restaurant, lobby and bar. I decided to come in for a beer and found it to be a hotel/hotel hybrid. It was actually a super clean and nice place to stay if you are on a budget. I walked around and saw the rooms as well. They are perfect for those who are more into spending their money on sights and culture. The rooms were nice and spacious with private bathrooms. There was a nice laundry room as well. Now, while I didn't stay the night, the place was great for drinks and food. I would actually stay here next time I am in Stockholm because the vibe is pretty unique. read more

5 stars & I didn't even stay a night here. If you're looking for a hostel in Stockholm, look no further! I stayed down the street at a different hostel and I wish I stayed here instead. Generator is so cosmopolitan compared to most hostels and the overall look & feel is very appealing to millennials. The lobby is a hybrid for lounging around with a bar/coffee bar/ restaurant. Generator served as the meet up point for our group so we could pre-game or get a bite to eat. Also, if you stay here, you get a discount on breakfast. At various points we ordered coffee, jagerbombs & calamari & swedish meatballs. All were solid. Additionally, they have programming each night like "learn how to DJ!" lessons. 20/365 read more

Whether you're staying for 24 hours or longer, Generator Stockholm is where you need to be. This hostel has so many perks that it will make you forget you're sharing a dorm room with strangers. Generator is a popular chain of hostels operating in many big cities across Europe like London and Amsterdam. Their Stockholm location might be one of the coolest though. The hostel has its own restaurant/ bar/club and tattoo parlor attached. Breakfast is gourmet AF, there's 90's style arcade games and the lobby made me feel productive instantly. The best news you'll hear today? Generator is opening a hostel in MIAMI. It's lit. Seriously imagine staying on Collins Ave in a nice private for way less than you would pay at any other hotel in South Beach. I'm ready. We stayed in one of Generator's private rooms and it was magic. With city views, a comfy bed, ensuite bathroom, workspace and a couch, there wasn't much more I could've ask for. Let me remind you, this is a hostel but you will forget that once you step foot inside. Generator has mastered the hostel experience completely. They still have the hostel elements like dorms, bike rental and social spaces, but all done with a hotel feel. It's truly quite unique. Our room was very comfortable, clean and functional. I couldn't get over how thorough the room design was. There was a reading light, USB plugs and outlets over the bed. I can't tell you how many times, I've been to a hotel or airport without USB charging ports. It's annoying because at this point in the game all smartphones use USB chargers, so having them is essential to staying connected. Generator is well designed and definitely suits millennial travelers. I was charging three devices by my bed overnight and it doesn't get much more millennial than that. First things first, breakfast was everything I never imagined. I knew the brand had a reputation for being one of the best but I had no idea that meant poached eggs, real bacon and pesto toast for breakfast. For those of you who have doubts about hostels, this one will surely change your mind. Hostel breakfasts typically only include toast, jam, nutella, juices and fruit. Usually, I take what I can get from my hostel breakfast without expecting much but Generator Stockholm just changed that forever. My eggs were seasoned like someone's mama was in the kitchen and the pesto toast was on point too. Seriously, they do the damn thing right. For 95 KR ($11 USD) you can prebook breakfast with your room and you'll receive breakfast tokens for your choice of 1 meal and juice, tea or coffee. Best part? breakfast is from 7-11 AM, which is perfect if you spent all night at Hilma getting turnt. Hilma is a restaurant and bar that doubles as a tattoo parlor. During the evening, you can grab drinks and a meal at the bar. When I was there the tattoo parlor wasn't open, but we could peak in to see the dopeness. You can check out their resident artists here. Hilma is also a genius addition to the hostel because its convenient and the perfect place to pre game before a night out on the town. If you're like us, you'll probably end up staying there because its just so damn vibey. I ordered the Jamaican Jerk chicken and was presently surprised. I honestly didn't know what to expect from the food at Hilma, but my taste buds were graced with deliciousness. I'm a foodie at heart, so I was truly happy with this meal. The flavor was incredible, it was actually spicy and I was so full after digging in. The bartender sat it down in front of me and my eyes immediately lit up with glee. The jerk chicken sat atop rice smothered with black beans. Parsley and jalapeños were scattered throughout the dish for a real kick of flavor. My favorite part was the yogurt sauce that came on the side with a lime. I squeezed the lime to a pulp and added the yogurt sauce to my chicken for the perfect mix of spicy and savory. We went during happy hour (12:00-8:00 PM) so drinks were incredibly cheap too. I bounced between a local beer and my go-to, red wine. It's safe to say that this was the best meal I had in Stockholm and definitely the best hostel I've ever stayed in. #YouMeTravel read more

I recently took a spontaneous trip to Stockholm and Generator was one of the only places available during the busy summer season. I was solo traveling so I wanted a social environment and Generator seemed like a great fit. The location is excellent! It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the hostel from Central Station, and from there you can go anywhere in the city. The facilities are very modern and hip, unlike your stereotypical hostel. They have a very nice lobby with a bar and restaurant serving food most of the day. If you're looking to meet fellow travelers, they also offer a wide range of events and tours throughout the week. I stayed in a 6 bedroom mixed room with it's own private bath. I recommend bringing ear plugs for sleeping and a lock for the bedroom locker to keep things secure. If sharing a room isn't your thing, they also have private rooms and suites available. They also have the option to order breakfast in advance at a discounted rate. I did this and it cost about 95 SEK per day. The breakfast was fine, but I don't think I'd pay extra for it again. I really like that the clientele is a mix of families, young adults, couples, and travelers of all ages. In my experience, this hostel was a bit less social than some I've been to in the past but it was still a very good experience. I would definitely stay at one of their other locations in the future. read more

After much searching for a good deal in Stockholm in November we landed on the Generator Hostel. We booked a private room with a bathroom and it was just what we needed: a warm place to stay and rest while adventuring. Remember, it's not a hotel. We used the same towels for 3 days and had to make our own bed. But you know what, we saved a lot of money doing that! The bed was comfy and the heater worked well so we were content. We did not visit the bar (it looked empty every time we walked by), eat breakfast at the restaurant, or play any of the games in the common area, so I cannot say much about those things. But for what we paid, we were very happy with our stay at Generator. read more

Pros: 1. Newer hostel.. rooms clean and spacious 2. Next to 711 store 3. Cafe downstairs.. has everything! ! 4. Ambiance is nice.. hip and clean! 5. price is OK. . I think next hostel nearby better amenities (free pasta ) but I'm OK with opting out.. They have free sandwiches and coffee around 85 sek Cons: toilet smells like sewage.. need to fix that stench. I chose private bathroom vs shared so expected it to be much more clean and without smell of sewage. read more

Hi there Justice S!!…
Very good hostel in Stockholm. I spent 3 nights here over Easter break 2017; my total stay in a 6-person mixed dorm came out to be about $100 USD. I felt this was pretty reasonable especially for Stockholm, which is generally an expensive place to visit. It wasn't hard to find the hostel from T-Centralen. There's not too much to eat right around the hostel, but if you walk closer to T-Centralen and Drottninggatan, there's a lot of restaurants and cafés. T-Centralen is also only 1 stop away from the old town (Gamla Stan). Right across the street is a 7 Eleven that seemed popular with a lot of my fellow boarders; the 7 Elevens in the city seemed to have more food and pastries than those you'd find in the States. Technically, there was a rule against bringing outside food into the hostel, but it seemed impossible to enforce, since once you check in, you can get to the rooms/elevators without passing reception or any staff. It looked like most people brought food back with them with no issues. I only ate at the hostel twice: dinner my first night, and then I got a pastry and coffee my first morning. The Swedish meatballs were pretty tasty and not exorbitantly priced, and the pastry was good too. However, you can get a lot of better food if you venture out into the city and old town; the menu at the hostel café is very limited and the café isn't open for most of the day anyway. You could probably meet people at the bar but as a solo traveler I found it easier to just make friends with my dorm roommates. I forgot to bring my EU plug adapter (I only had U.K. and American plugs), but there were plenty of USB charging stations at reception and in the café, and 1 right by my bed as well, so I didn't have to buy an adapter in Stockholm, which was awesome. There was also a reading light and an EU plug outlet at each bed in my room. The bedding was pretty pristine, and the bathroom was reasonably clean. The bathroom sink was kind of clogged, but not seriously so, and the shower drain was fine. There is absolutely no soap provided so bring all your toiletries. Towels are available to rent for a fee. The towel rack in my room's bathroom was heated, which was really neat. Each bed had a storage box underneath; it took me a few minutes to figure out how to open it, but it was super useful for the duration of my stay. I was fine with using it without a padlock, as I took my valuables with me each day. I was able to check in around noon, ahead of the stated 2 pm check-in time. The staff were friendly and fluent in English. The hostel was pretty polished overall, and I'd be happy to stay again. read more

Great facility, decent food, but service here is really a hit or miss. Seems like the night staff is much friendlier then the day staff. Don't expect a smile from the front desk when you go to get breakfast, but I guess that's what you get with a two star hotel. The team seems to do the bare minimum possible for its guests and even can make you feel as if you're inconveniencing them. Great for long stay as you'll save some cash but would have much rather spent the difference for better service and amenities. read more

Stayed here a couple of days. Experience was top notch. It's a great location, quiet nights sleep. Clean, modern rooms with plenty of storage that you can lock yourself. There are also storage rooms for huge luggage and bulky items, laundry room. A bar restaurant, meeting rooms and nightclub. Staff was friendly and accommodating. If you're sightseeing ask them for tips they know their stuff. Food in my opinion was excellent. Great selection - try the "dirty burger" . My only complaint was that I was on the 1st floor, there were 2 doors and the door closest to our room opens from the inside so we had to use the other door and walk around every time. Put a card reader on the door. A minor inconvenience. read more

Let's start with a simple pro and con... Pros: - Modern look and feel - Fairly new - Close to central station - Kinda cheap rates Cons: - Super annoying Token-System (house currency) - Wifi way to slow and not very reliable - No community kitchen (you can buy stuff at their cafe) - 3 washing machines and dryers for hundreds (?) of guests - Windows don't open in rooms - Showers and toilets in the rooms (you think that through) - Music from the lobby blasts through the levels - Quite far off the major cities and the vibrant old town district To conclude, it's kind of okay if you only spend a night or two. Wouldn't recommend staying there for much longer. Stayed on the hostel ship the nights before. Well, that's beyond comparison. read more

Generator was my first attempt at hostels. For someone used to Hilton and ritz Carlton and the like (I stayed in similar my first night in Stockholm) I was more than surprised and pleased. The night before I went to my first hostel ever with a few people who were staying in that one in drogotan. I found generator online and booked. Firstly the rooms were clean, the sheets were white and pristine and it looked more like a good American dorm room than hostel the movie. You can rent a locker and/or lock your personal property under your bed in a big box provided. The box can be padlocked or you can rent a padlock. Another surprising factor, there is an ensuite bathroom for the 4 occupants of the room. The bathroom looks like a hotel bathroom. The access to the room uses key cards like a hotel so you don't have strangers barging into the room. The lounge downstairs is chic, the vibe is young so there were guys and girls who looked my age (24) there are young guys and girls mostly around from Europe to Australia to Asia to America. (20-35). There is a bar downstairs and it works pretty much like an American bar. The beer can get expensive, but its Stockholm. Breakfast is every morning by the lounge and served through the bar. It's fresh and healthy but you don't have too many options. Thursdays are trivia night at the bar, some other days are nacho night and other themed nights. There is a club/cocktail bar adjoining generator owned by generator called hilma. The club has the decor of a New York underground trend vibe. With different DJs playing on different nights. read more
