I would not have had this experience with the hospital. She amazed me during my delivery. She handled any issue that came up quickly and with ease. I had no complications because of this. I also loved the postpartum massage that you get several days after giving birth. It felt amazing! She treated my daughters jaundice quickly, and set us up with a bili blanket so she could be treated at home. Even a year later, I contacted her after moving to NY for some post breast feeding issues. She was happy to answer my questions and give me advice! I am so glad I chose to have my baby delivered by her. If I lived closer I would have the rest of my future babies delivered by her! I had such an amazing experience! I can't say enough good things about Amy!

I liked Jennifer so much that I committed to a natural home birth and I'll never regret that decision. The continuity of care at our appointments was excellent. I think she had to reschedule my appointments maybe 3 times over the course of my pregnancy - which I thought was excellent for someone who works with time sensitive clients. At the birth, she was so supportive and encouraging and made the right calls to keep me safe when I couldn't deliver my placenta. She rode with me in the ambulance to the hospital, and came back to check on us later that evening and the day after we were discharged. She was also honest in that next day follow up about how she would not recommend I home birth again now that I'd experienced that complication. I'm sad I won't be able to home birth again, but I'm empowered with the knowledge I could give birth naturally in a hospital and not feel pressured at the hospital to accept interventions the way I did with my first child. Jennifer is someone I'm proud to know and recommend as a professional who has become my friend.

She was always encouraging me to do my research and helping me find resources. Her respect for my preferences during the birth and afterwards was extremely encouraging to me. It was a challenging decision and mindset shift for me to birth at home; and she met me where I was and encouraged me to take charge of the birth (with a little guidance ). During the birth, she only ever expressed 100% confidence in my ability to labor and birth my son. Also, as the baby was crowning, we found he had a type of shoulder dystocia (hand by his face) and she very calmly directed me to change positions. After a few minutes of supporting me in figuring out what position felt right the baby was born very quickly, crying and very healthy! I had two check-ups postpartum instead of just one like I normally would get. Jennifer is extremely supportive and knowledgeable and is an excellent competent midwife!

Our midwives had practiced in homes over the past 11 years, but were getting calls from women who did not want to be in the hospital to give birth, but were not desirous of home births. These were young educated women who often contacted us after they had done hours of research on their own and had finally found what they were looking for; someone who would respect their opinions, provide them with resource and then give them options on where and how to birth. Research was done, a plan was launched, permits were acquired, a building was secured and renovations began. We were able to now have the best of both worlds, a home-like environment and easy access to medical facilities should they become necessary.

I almost always got into my appointments right on time, and everyone on the staff was always kind. Overall the amosphere felt so much calmer than a typical doctors office, and I never felt rushed through my appointments. I had gestational diabetes and I really liked their approach with it. They got me into a nutrition class right away and were always willing to answer questions. I was never told my baby would be too big or pressured to be induced early, which seems to be common with gestational diabetic patients at OB's. The midwives take a calm approach and trust your body. I felt confident at my birth, and my baby came out just fine even though he was on the large side. If you are into an extra crunchy, low intervention birthing experience this might not be the right place for you. Since they are associated with the hospital, you have to agree to do ultrasounds at 20 weeks and 36 weeks. They do recommend you get vaccinations, but definitely wouldn't force you. They have a flu vaccine without thirmiserol. They also encourage you to choose to get the vitamin K shot for your baby, but you can turn it down at the hospital. They have good with follow up care post birth. They call everyday for a week to check on you and the baby, and then once a week until your 6 week post partum visit. They are very supportive of breast feeding and you can also get lactation appointments there. I gave birth in their birthing center and would definitely recommend that for people interested in natural child birth, but unfortunately it has recently been announced that they will only be doing hospital births. But even without the birthing center, I believe they are a great choice for prenatal care. It feels good to have a care team that trusts in the body's natural abilities.

They try to push medicine and other things on you and if you deny they label you a difficult patient but i think they forget what real midwives do and represent! Natural care not western! But since they are now partnered with prisma i guess they forgot what a midwife is. Update get a call today from Susan and she said Brittany told her i refuse to do anatomy scan which is a lie yes i was against it but my last conversation with Brittany was her saying i had a few weeks to think about it and we would talk about it again. also at my last appointment had same conversation about thinking about taking the ultrasound and that i had some weeks to make the decision and then i had contacted brittany after that appointment idek the doctor name i had seen at that appointment but i called brittany to discuss what she said and brittany said the same thing right along with some other unproffesional things and threatening to drop me if i didnt do it but then also turned around and said if i dont do it they can still see me but i wonyt be able to do the waterbirth. so im like which is cause you keep contradicting yourself with everything you are saying. you say one thing then try to rephrase it after you realize what you said was unprofessional! but the end of the conversation was still informing me i had a few weeks to think about it and we woud discuss it again. Never heard from her again so i figured at my next appointment we would discuss until i got the call from Susan today and her saying they couldn't see me anymore because i refuse to do the scan and I'm like excuse me so now y'all making decisions for me cause that's not the last conversation i had with Brittany smh i was told by two of the "midwifes" there i had weeks to think about it and change my mind! and susan says brittany didnt relay that part of the message to her she just told her i said no completely which was not true! They are very much unprofessional and not real midwife's at all and i hate i sent people to go there i wish there was other birthing centers that took insurance but they are partnered with the hospital that's why they get as many patients as they do because they take all insurance. But trust if you can pay out of pocket go to genesis or Birth matters can refer you to some amazing midwifes and or doulas if you are over 24 but if you are under 24 you get free doula care from them you will get real midwife's that aren't all western and are professional and more traditional do not go with Greenville midwifery another update apparently susan sent my records over to another office without my permission and i recieved a call today saying they had a referral for me and im like no you do not i never requested that! it was a obgyn which furthermore lets you know greenville midwifery do not listen to you at all! from the beginning they knew i wanted a midwife and doula why tf would you think i would want to go to a ob? and i damn sure dont want to go to anyone you all recommend! do not send my information to no other doctors yall are so unprofessional and not at alla bout what yall claim!

I was always interested in having a homebirth since having my own bad experiences in hospitals. After seeing my mom friends have bad birth experiences in hospitals that interest quickly formed determination, I just didn't know how to go about it. Thankfully after posting on a local facebook group I was recommended Karen by name not just by one person but several people. I Always pictured myself finding someone Who was holistically minded whom I could learn from and very quickly when first speaking with her I realized Karen was exactly that. I'm so thankful we picked Karen for our home birth because my labor was not easy it was 30 hours long and I was not exactly the zen primal birther I had hoped to be I was throwing up crying and down right exhausted for the latter half of my birth and thinking omg how am I going to get this baby out who do I think I am?? But Karen was on top of it she coached me through the hardest parts and gave me and my perineum the support we desperately needed! Because of her I had an incredible birth that has empowered me so much through this postpartum period. I don't think I would've been able to labor and birth at home without her knowledge and quick action.
