My father was under Dr. Ralph Orland's care for over twenty years, during which he was diagnosed with PTSD, Major Depression, Panic Attacks, Anxiety, and Dementia. Over this time, he was prescribed numerous medications, some of which worsened his conditions and contributed to his cognitive decline. His behavior became increasingly erratic and manic, causing distress to both him and our family. Despite these concerning signs, when we reached out to Dr. Orland and the VA with our concerns about his behavior and medications, we were consistently told they couldn't speak with us. All we wanted was for them to listen and investigate for his safety and well-being. One major issue was that my father was prescribed Benzodiazepines at high dosages for nearly twenty years. These medications are not typically recommended for individuals with severe PTSD or dementia, both of which my father had. Benzodiazepines can worsen symptoms and cause cognitive impairment, yet Dr. Orland continued prescribing them. Even after diagnosing my father with dementia twice, Dr. Orland never informed our family, and my father himself seemed unaware of this diagnosis. Long-term use of these drugs is well-known to be harmful to patients like my father, but no steps were taken to address this. We repeatedly raised alarms about my father's erratic behavior--manic episodes, impulsive spending, and dangerous actions like impersonating law enforcement--but no meaningful changes were made to his treatment. Even after his wife of thirty-five years left him due to the severity of his behavior, and despite numerous legal issues, his care remained unchanged. When my father moved out of state, a new VA team immediately removed him from Benzodiazepines, and we noticed a significant improvement in his behavior. Had this been done earlier, his relationships might have been preserved, and his decline to frontal lobe dementia might have been mitigated. Looking back, it's clear my father's care was mishandled. He was allowed to drive, make legal decisions, and even marry two mail-order brides, all while mentally unfit. Despite numerous warning signs--suicide attempts, erratic behavior, and heart issues--no one informed the family or took steps to address these serious issues. In one instance, my father's attorney even suggested leaving him in jail, claiming it would "do him some good." My father, disconnected from reality, requested to stay in jail, believing it was helping him. These incidents show that his care was not only inadequate but harmful. We were also alarmed when Dr. Orland recommended Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) for my father, which was performed twice despite concerns from his wife. My father trusted Dr. Orland, believing he had his best interests at heart, but that trust was tragically misplaced. It's heartbreaking to think that if Dr. Orland had listened to our concerns, my father could have received the care he needed much sooner, potentially preventing or lessening the severity of his current condition. Absolute worst service ever. They're all about MONEY!! My therapist literally DOZED OFF on 3-4 occasions during our sessions. He was a young probably new grad. Gave me ZERO feedback after any of our sessions. Absolute waste of time and money. The pill pushers who prescribe are grumpy, frumpy old ladies who think they're high and mighty.... this office is so unprofessional overall. The nurse practitioners who prescribe meds dress in stiletto heels and short dresses... dress like they're at a nightclub. Oh beware, if you say you don't like one of their providers, their "policy" is that you cannot be seen by ANY of their providers if you complain about one. Lol. This could be the BS they only fed me but I'm telling you BEWARE of unprofessional, EXPENSIVE, money-hungry service and you won't feel any better after leaving a therapy session. I called them to ask why they didn't confirm my appt with me, and the lady says, it's your responsibility to save a piece of paper when you make an appt. We don't give curtesy calls. I'd give 0 stars if I could. Dr Theresa Towle was rude, unprofessional, and unorganized. First appointment she was rude but I was like "whatever, tough love she's just not a ray of sunshine. Fine with me." At our second appointment she told us to meet her for an in-person appointment and when we arrived she was annoyed and claimed she told us it was a phone appointment. When at the second and scheduling a third appointment I specifically asked if it would be a phone appointment so we didn't have that issue again and she said in-person since that's how the last two appointments went. Guess what happened? We show up on time to the third and the idiot claims again that she told us it was a phone appointment. I received no phone call or email alerting me of the supposed change. Naturally she and the office give me attitude about it even though I specifically remember asking and her exact response in person. Also I called and left a message for her between the 2nd and 3rd appointment and she didn't even call me back. Would not recommend this poor excuse for a doctor OR this office in general based on the attitude and incompetence. read more

I came on here to complain about not getting a call back and then saw all the negative reviews. Thank god they didn't call me back!! The receptionist was beyond rude with me and then Linda, the new patient coordinator called and left me a rude message and told me to call her back. There was a misunderstanding about who I wanted an appointment with so I called her back and explained my situation. That was over a week ago. She NEVER called me back. Seems like the reviewer below was correct. I formally saw someone else in the office and they were not a good fit so I went to look for someone new. I guess that isn't allowed? All I can say is shame on all of you. Do you not realize the field you are working in and why? We are all human and we all need help at times. Unbelievable. Son saw Dr Theresa Towle at Genesis Clinical for anxiety. Was not comfortable with the physician. Very abrupt and gruff. Absolutely the worst kind of attitude you need for anxiety treatment. Asked to transfer physicians with another one in practice and medical director denied? Wow. Great, let's force a patient to stay with a doctor they are not comfortable with and get back in the cue at another practice while they are in need of help. Getting appointments for psychiatrists are months long. I am shocked and would NEVER recommend anyone going to Genesis based on their coldness to their patients who are in need of help. read more

There are a few times I write a negative review. This review is for the office staff. I arrived for my 1:00 appointment on time and wrote down my name. At 1:20 I asked to use the restroom as dr was running late. It took until I came back for them to ask if I have an appointment and they asked me to point to where I wrote my name down (in a way that was demeaning). When I pointed to it, I noticed it was crossed off. I asked why? They said because this appointment is for tomorrow. I asked how long they were going to have me sit there until they told me! She told me to hang on. Another lady at 1:30 told me that I rescheduled my last appointment. I said yes, but what that has to do with anything? No answer... I asked again who crossed off my name and had me sitting there until I asked to use the bathroom. She said she was busy and had not had time yet to tell me yet. WHAT? I had said that I had down that my appointment was today. She then pulled up some information that said I apparently picked up their automative call reminding me about my appointment and hung up 20 seconds into it. (Not too big brother huh?) AND then she let me know that another lady right before me also had this issue: that she came today but her appointment was for tomorrow! Maybe it's their issue not ours?? This review is not even regarding the 4 phone calls and countless failed attempts to have them refill my prescription. HORRIBLE SERVICE and OFFICE STAFF. When you walk in their backs are always turned to you and never greet you or smile. Let's see how long it takes them to reach out about this. A business is only as good as how they handle their complaints. I've been going here for over 5 years (more like 7 years). They used to be good, happy and personable people. Dr. Towle is warm and caring. I started seeing her when overwhelmed with school and family issues. She helped me find the right medication combination and work through my stressful situation. She also encouraged me to work on taking care of myself through exercise, healthy eating and learning to relax. I have been working with her for over a year and am grateful for all of her help! As for the clinic, I get a live person to speak with and find everyone friendly. I am very satisfied with the care I have received there. read more

It's important to give your therapist the benefit of the doubt. But either my psychiatrist doesn't like my therapist or my therapist is incompetent. This place is unprofessional. I would have given Genesis 5 stars but both Dr. Noll, psychologist, and Dr. Prinz, psychiatrist, have departed. I was a patient my entire adult life and I am turning 34. I am giving Genesis 1 star now because of their inclusion of Dr. Molly Mulligan -- a danger to all the more vulnerable of society, including all psych patients. I am autistic (high IQ, art savant, late speech, sensory issues, naive, high emotional empathy and love of volunteering, etc.). I also have PTSD worsened by a psych trip last year that was extremely abusive and numerous committees looked into it, including a full investigation of the psych department of the hospital by the National Committee for Human Rights. Although given the option, I chose not to sue. I only went due to a PTSD stressor from very severe family issues (homelessness, drug abuse, attempted murder, prison-- major). Anyways, I am also very physically ill, some even of which are rare conditions. I can't get up some days due to seizures. Mulligan was informed of this and said that I described myself as unfit for society and in need of institutuonalization. Woah. Not OK. I go to church with a lot of psych workers, mental health lawyers, etc. and all were appalled. The psychiatrist most of help said that word institutionalization is outdated and she has never sent someone to such a place and it is more if there is no family left and a last resort, etc. Let me reinforce I have zero history of violence, even when abused. I have no criminal record. I am 5'1" and 110lbs and my joints are likely to pop out of place if I so much as slap you. I tend to follow the rules, but being autistic, I act weird. Kind of how it works. I am extremely non-threatening in appearance and action. I have a recommended neuropsych lined up, and I have been in therapy forever, done many stints outpatient and inpatient when misdiagnosed and they were pointless other than the eating disorder unit stay. Mulligan is uncreative, has old views, does not have ideas for how to work with limited budgets and those traumatized by inpatient and really who don't belong there anyway. She couldn't seem to even understand that institution doctors (who she said would treat me hypothetically) can't treat things like difficult seizures, unusual vision issues, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, immune system problems that are severe but confusing, extreme stomach problems where everything inside is ripped to shreds and still being diagnosed, etc. A degree means nothing if you don't use your brain or have empathy. Unfit for society to me means serial killers... Not a nonviolent often bedridden epileptic with a caretaker and not asking for financial supports. I have friends, a church community, and hope to teach English to refugees again... Also it doesn't matter to me, but Dr. Noll tested me and placed my IQ as 99.9% I am an accomplished artist. I am good at comforting others of all ages. Yet I am unfit for society? This "doctor" is dangerous. I have heard good things about the rest of the remaining Genesis staff, but Mulligan in one session said things that shocked everyone who knows me who works in this field. I don't exaggerate and I tend to use direct quotes and note when I paraphrase. She has to go. A hundred doctors with actual empathy and interest in helping people are lining up to take her place, I am sure. Even if Mulligan treated you well, please do not support institutionalization especially with lack of proper medical attention. Please do not support the calling of kind people with illness of any kind unfit for society. If you love Genesis, please support them through a different psychiatrist of theirs. Luis Mayolo was my psychologist here, so I can only speak to my experience with him. He was completely unprofessional on many occasions, but I will give the most disgusting examples here: When I began going to Luis, I was 24. I'm also a woman, which is important here. I have depression and PTSD. This was the first time I was seeking help, so my self-worth was very low. Instead of giving me the tools to work on that, he would tell me that men don't find women who have low self-worth very sexy, and that if I wanted to find a man, I should know what I want in life and set goals. Okay, first of all, ew. I wasn't there to find a man. I was there, because I wanted to die. Second of all, he didn't even know if I was straight or not. Thirdly, when I was down on myself, he would focus on my looks and continue to call me beautiful and comment on my physique. I wasn't there to fish for compliments. I needed help. I needed therapy. If I wanted to be creeped out by an older guy, I would have gone to a bar. Another disturbing thing that happened with Luis-- I was a bartender at the time and told him that I was getting sexually harassed at work by the customers. His response? "Well, you wouldn't think of it as sexual harassment if the guys saying those things to you were younger and hotter." I was left speechless. He completely invalidated my experience and told me how to feel. And also, I absolutely WOULD feel the same way no matter WHO was touching me inappropriately at work and saying disgusting things about my body. This man should absolutely NOT be allowed to work with young, vulnerable women. I honestly think he became a psychologist to prey on weak women who don't have the tools to defend themselves. Lastly, he would try to bicker with me like he did with his fiance, because he said I reminded him of her? I would be sitting there, talking about childhood abuse, and he'd start bickering as if we were in a relationship. It was confusing and quite frankly, disturbing. He also didn't tell me that he would be sharing all of my information with the psychiatrist/any other therapist he wanted. Remember, this was my first time in therapy, and I had shared all of my past trauma with him. I had no idea he could share my chart with whomever he pleased. I was obviously taken aback by that, especially, because he had such a sexist and skewed version of reality. I honestly don't even want to know what he wrote down about my sexual abuse, because with his attitude, I'm sure he blamed it on me. So, women, do NOT go to Luis Mayolo. If you have a daughter, keep them away. I noticed that many of his clients are young women, and I don't think that's a coincidence. This pig of a person is a disgrace to the field. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Emma Cabusao for over 20 years and she helps me tremendously. She is very professional, compassionate empathetic and a wonderful listener. A good person that truly wants to help others. She was a medical Dr. and surgeon prior to being a psychiatrist and therefore has been a blessing to me as I have multiple medical and allergy issues. She understands my concerns about trying new medications due to these limitations. Having such an extensive background in medicine and pharmacology she is able to educate me as we make a decision together should my meds need changing or adjusting. I have been stable under her care for many years. She treats the person as a whole not focused on just one issue.She has been incredibly supportive to me through many personal traumas and lifes struggles. I have learned so much from Dr. Cabusao and I will nurture and take that with me throughout my life. Wonderful facility. I worked with Dr. Mayolo for six years and it was nothing but helpful. He listened to and validated my concerns while also helping me stay goal and growth focused. He was caring, considerate, and understanding. I personally never had any issues with the staff there. I still am a part of GCS for my psychiatrist who I also have had a positive experience with. When it came time for me to move on in my healing process Dr. Mayolo was supportive and encouraging. Would defiantly recommend. Front desk will not send my records to other clinics. I've been in a battle with them for weeks and they refuse to just call the other clinic and talk to an actual person to resolve the issue. I cannot get my adhd meds as a result and they offer no support in the meantime. Therapist there once recommended Native American "smudging" over actual medicine (she was white). Doctor not respectful of my medical decisions and preferences, nor would they help me get special accomodations for my ADHD from a testing center even though they were medicating me. read more

She has worked with to get the right medication regime as I am sensitive to medications and my depression is treatment resistant. I have found her to be very knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. I believe I am getting safe efficacious medical care. I am a nurse by profession. I also seen Dr. Donald Romano for my therapist. He is extremely intelligent, thoughtful, caring and compassionate. The doctors are uncaring and only want to deal with patients they can throw med refills at every three months and that require zero effort or support. I wish I could give zero stars. This place used to be amazing, Dr. Prinz was possibly the best doctor I ever had, but when he left I was switched to another person in this practice. I had a nurse practitioner here that would read back my chart to me verbatim every appointment, use extremely out of date and quite frankly triggering language every appointment. Also, her appointments never lasted more than ten minutes and she didn't have the goddamn decency to read my chart before I came in and many times did not remember/ know my name. Worst of all the medication dosage was giving me extremely bad side effects but she didn't believe me and instead resorted to reading back my chart again; implying that the person I was 6 years ago is obviously the same person I am today. I started seeing Dr. Doris Van Byssum a few months ago after my previous psychiatrist at Summit Clinical didn't seem to take what I had to say or how I felt into consideration. This isn't the case now though! Dr. DVB always listens attentively and is genuinely such a nice woman. Our appointments don't last too long, which I prefer, and I am able to just update her, get my refills, and schedule a future appointment. PLEASE READ. If I could give this zero stars, I would. I truly wanted to love getting help. I went to Dr. Romano and Maryellen Fleming Price for about 3 months. During that time, Dr. Romano did not listen to me, was not empathetic, talked the whole time and lastly MISDIAGNOSED me. Mary Ellen believed Dr. Romano and put me on anti depressants. These anti depressants caused me to have a manic episode. When you're not depressed and you're actually bipolar 1, these anti depressants cause you to have an episode. This was the worst and hardest time in my life. I was so manic driving I got in a car crash. I should never have been prescribed anti depressants by a NURSE PRACTITIONER ( Mary Ellen). There should have been more observing as I thought I was bipolar from day one. I hope for anyone reading this that you truly think about what you want when it comes to a mental health psychiatrist, counselor, therapist, psychologist, or what ever you want to call them. I also hope that when you tell your professional that you think you're this or that, that they do not open a book and read you the definition. Dr. Romano did that every time I asked why I had racing thought, couldn't sleep, had so many symptoms of bipolar. If you got this far, thank you. Dr Cabuso has been my doctor for over 2 years and she continues to help me and has helped me tremendously.

I was very dissatisfied with the services performed by Genesis. The phone at the front desk is frequently unanswered. They have mismanaged my son's medication and the paperwork associated with his medication. I have been through therapy sessions in which my son's behavior had gone from reasonable to aggressive without a explanation or remedy by the Doctor or therapist other than to take him to an emergency room ( which was not necessary ). Overall, very dissatisfied with the services and administration. read more
