I've been trying to make an appointment here since January. I've called several times. Every time I call I'm told there's no availability. I've been told that I am high up on the waitlist. I even told the lady last time I called her that I really need to get into counseling. No communication from them unless I reach out first. Not impressed at all. If this is their version of Christian counseling, perhaps I need to look elsewhere. read more

My son was seeing a therapist. There was confusion as to which insurance to bill. They billed the incorrect insurance. I advised them we had 2 insurances and that the incorrect insurance was billed. I was told to pay a certain amount till the other insurance paid so my son could be seen. I paid $900 out of my own pocket even though we had insurance. A week later they decided not to see my son. I would not recommend this company as it has taken a toll on my son not to mention my finances. Billing is hard to work with and they do not keep their word. I requested a call from management and no one has returned my call. I feel for my son. As a professional you just don't drop clients. read more

I have nothing nice to say except I liked my therapist. My therapist left the agency since then. Other than that, the agency is very unorganized and not truthful. They rarely return any of my calls or emails. I don't trust this agency. I will never come back or would recommend anyone to seek counseling here. read more

Not having a lot of experience with counseling, I'm not sure if my experience was typical. Four sessions into it, I felt if there was not much direction or a course of action. The first appointment was the one that offered the best advice, a support group at a local church. The billing department was difficult to work with and not at all helpful in communicating with the insurance company. When Stenzel owed me refunds, it took several calls and many days to wait with the checks. As recommended by others, don't make any appointments until you are clear of insurance coverage and payment policies. read more

Dan Gleason was such a wonderful person to work with in my journey with OCD. Having this illness for many years, and going to therapists/psychologists that do not understand the illness was exhausting, and unproductive. Luckily when I met Dan, he knew every little thing there is to know about OCD. Finding someone who is genuinely interested in your case is hard to find. During sessions, I was able to go into details into the past and connect them to behaviors in the present. This gave me clarity. I remember each time coming out of the office feeling 1000% better. First, my review has nothing to do with the clinical services I received from Stenzel. Second, I thought my counselor was genuine and attentive to my concerns. However, I faced several problems with the business side of the company. For instance, I had no idea it was my responsibility to contact my insurance company for partial reimbursement. This is something that should have been explained prior to services beginning. Another issue was I clearly expressed I wanted to continue counseling after my counselor left the company, but no one contacted me. I found this to be a problem because I know from professional experience this is something that should have been facilitated by the agency. I also didn't like it was nearly impossible to contact the woman in charge of collecting payment. For instance, she rarely returned phone calls and I didn't quite understand why she didn't communicate via email. Her primary mode of communication was a bill in the mail. It was very, very impersonal. Not what you would expect from a company that specializes in clinical services. I have met Grant Stenzel and believe him to be a decent man. However, if you tell someone you are sorry that they felt disrespected without taking accountability for what you or your company did wrong are you really sorry?? I don't think so. Therefore, I cannot recommend this service. read more

I contacted Stenzel approx 3 weeks ago (May 21) because of the extremely difficult time I am going through right now and needing a therapist. Unfortunately, I do not have insurance as I am unemployed and have no extra money outside of paying for food and my home. I did ask them if they would do any pro bono work and I was sent a form to fill out asking me various questions, among them financial questions. My wife and I went to Stenzel Clinical Services to for some marital counseling. We were experiencing a lot of life changes and wanted to get a tune-up and learn some new tools to better communicate and understand each other. We met with Michael Hayes. Right away I felt comfortable with Michael. We spent a number of months meeting with him and he helped each of us to better understand one another's perspective. I was surprised how many times my wife later told me that she never knew some of the things that I shared. Looking back, we both feel as if that time with Michael was one of the highlights of 2018 for us. I highly recommend both Stenzel Clinical Services and especially Michael Hayes. read more

I felt like I needed to add a review. My experience has not been the same as the other Yelper who currently has a review. A trusted friend recommended Stenzel to me, back in 2010, and I have felt blessed by their service for several years. I have known several other people who have chosen this office to work with and have been greatly encouraged by their time spent here. These are opinions, I realize, but if you were to ask me for a recommendation for a place to go I would personally tell you to choose Stenzel. Before making my first appointment, I used their website and found it very helpful and informative. They have increased their options for online help and I would check that out if you are curious. And while the administrative staff has changed in the years I've been here, I have always worked with friendly, straightforward, and helpful people in the office. While I can't say that I've had experience with every counselor, I have talked to several and feel that they are like-minded and qualified individuals who have the goal in mind to help someone who is reaching out for help. I will be honest: counseling was not something I wanted to pursue... This was a medical recommendation for me. When I was in a spot in life where I didn't know where to turn for help, I called Stenzel. My very first phone call experience was met by a secretary that was flexible and listening... She put me at ease enough to even agree to first appointment. (If you knew me...you would know that this was a huge accomplishment!) My opinion about the need for, and the helpfulness of, counseling has done a 180 in my time coming here. I agree with the first poster. I got charged $85 on 5/21 for a "no show" on 4/13. (I will dispute this charge with my bank.) The thing that made me angry enough to not make any more appointments was the way I was treated after my FSA card was used up. Because of their idiotic billing system, they charged my card every two weeks. The problem came when I had to switch the card that I used because my FSA was used up. So, one day the charge did not go through. I took care of it right away but you'd think I bounced a check or something! At my next appointment, the tone was very different. The therapist made me pay before the session. Well, I didn't bring a card or cash with me because they normally charge every two weeks from their office. If they wanted me to make a payment beforehand, they should have told me. So, I was basically humiliated and had to leave without having a session. After that, there was no way I could go to that therapist again. I cancelled my appointments because they were ridiculously expensive and I wasn't getting anything out of them that I couldn't do journaling on my own. Nice "Christian" office :/ read more

I don't understand why some people gave bad reviews. I love Stenzel. I've been coming here for over 5 years already. The therapists are super sweet and friendly. They also work with you when you can't afford your appointments, they worked with our budget. I love Stenzel, probably because I love my therapist. I've seen 3 therapists there. The front office needs to work on their communication skills and timely response both on the phone and on email. I asked them a question and they never replied on email. Second, I emailed and called Brenna Embretson requesting an appointment with her. She replied the next day explaining that she works with certain clients then I replied back apologizing for the misunderstanding and asked her a question. Unfortunately she haven't replied since. In retrospect, if it doesn't benefit them, they will not collaborate with you. read more

I had people tell me not to go here but because of their reputation in the Christian community, I went with high hopes. I first called asking for an intern due to financial issues for my daughter. I didn't receive a call back. After two weeks I called to follow up and scheduled an appointment for Saturday. I asked if this would be every Saturday because this was the only day i could come and even canceled work that Saturday to go in. I was told it would be 10am every Saturday. Upon arriving the therapist intern said the Saturday was a one time thing and they only had daytime appointments. Of course I didn't even start the session. I also did all the paperwork online in which they had me redo in person. My daughter was disappointed and we left. The intern sent out an email asking if there were others who could take my daughter on. No reply! Not even a follow up from the intern, which isn't their fault it's a supervisory issue. I won't return. Poor scheduling and unprofessional. read more

My ex husband signed my girls up to see Mary Hockett without my consent. This counsellor has consistently refused to meet me. It would take legal action to remove her. She has done nothing to help my girls through a difficult divorce. She has seen my girls for three years now. There was no reason given for refusing to meet me. She has been used by my ex husband to advocate against me. I won in a legal battle where she sided with my ex husband. The fact that this practice hires anyone of this nature to "counsel" children has to be indicative of how mismanaged it is. It is dangerous and tragic that this situation exists. read more

It is sad that this place has such terrible office administration. If you go here DO NOT have any appointments until your insurance is worked out. They obviously do not have the staff to properly run this facility. You could be out $500 dollars because they will wait over a month to tell you that you were not approved by your insurance carrier to pay for your sessions. So unless you want to pay $150 cash per 45 min session find someplace else. The therapists are nice but probably not worth the administrative hassle. read more
