I used to be happy going here but in the last year they have been lacks about their younger techs checking results on hair cuts and just not looking at what should matter in the end .Espe with the prices they charge For is outrag for new beauticians. I cannot recommend this salon for coloring - this first coloring was so much lighter due to too much highlight - I am naturally naturally dark brunette, but have colored my own hair many times with red colors or medium browns. The stylist wanted to "ease me into gray", as I am older and do have gray hair (which is why I color) - I did NOT want this, as I do not look good in lighter colors (including gray) - doesn't look good with my skin. When I went back to have it recolored (about 8 weeks), I asked for it to be a little lighter because I didn't want blond (which it looked at the time on the surface). Colorist showed me tiny hair swatches, I picked some medium browns, but he steered me to a choclate brown saying it would have lighter over tones - I never saw what it would look like on my hair. My hair is very porous and takes color very fast. Now my hair roots are black which is NOT what I wanted. But communications issues happen. However, what was really upsetting is that when I called to asked for help correcting the color, the stylist said he couldn't help me, it was permanant and I agreed to the color. What I had asked for it for a richer, glossier color - not black color. I thought they would want me to be happy with my color, but I guess not. read more

Let me start off by saying this is a customer service review rather than quality of the cut. So I had my haircut yesterday, a standard mens fade. It was finished up and I was told if I get home and see it and find out I don't like it to return which was very courteous of the stylist. I called the next day after my wife and friends had seen it and told me to get it fixed. So I called and asked for it to be re-faded in the back. I was directed to Mikes barbershop and told that "I don't think there is anyone here who could give you want you want." I then asked why did you let me get my haircut by that stylist then? Immediately she says actually she's really good at them........ Again this isn't a review on the stylist!!!! This is a review on the customer service! I'm sure the stylist could 100% fix it if she was there that day or maybe even another stylist could re-fade the back of my head for a better transition. Either way I won't be coming back I'll learn how to fade myself at home and deal with a few back cuts since that's what I'm expected to do coming here anyways. Friendly staff and also friendly clientele. This salon has amazing hours and being that I work during the day, this was appreciated. The prices vary based on what level your hairstylist is, so if you are concerned about pricing, definitely ask up front. The salon is super cute on the inside and they sell various body and hair products. They also had jewelry for sale that was really adorable. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the stylist who cut my hair this time but I am so so happy with how it turned out. A few months ago I decided to go from longhair past my shoulder blades to a very short pixie style cut. I was happy with the short hair the first time my second cut somewhere else was not great so I went back to Genesis to have my third cut done. When I booked my appointment I specifically asked for someone who was good with short women's haircuts especially pixie style. The person they chose for me Was absolutely fantastic. The way my hair lays now is more than I really could have thought possible. I can dress it up or I can get out of the shower and mess with my fingers through it a few times and it's good to go. I have even had my hair color needs met by some associates (not students) along the way and I have been very pleased. The salon is beautiful and very relaxing. The staff are professional and courteous. Skye Currie is a great stylist and colorist. I am always happy with her services! She works hard and is frequently working to improve her craft! Mollie is amazing! The first time I met her, she immediately put me at ease. They do not let you know before you come or make an appt. Have been a long time customer as well as family members. My 19 year old daughter and I have been to the salon a few times. The person we typically see left. I called to make an appointment for her to get a cut and color and she brought a photo of exactly what she wanted. The stylist, Karlin, did not seem to know what she was doing. The color selected was blonde with black peekaboo strips underneath. When she was finished, my daughter looked like a gray, blonde and black calico cat, with some of the previous pink and natural brown showing. It was really bad. The stylist was apologetic and agreed to fix her hair for only the cost of toner. We scheduled a follow up appointment and I called and spoke to Kendall, who represented herself as either a manager or owner. I was assured that a senior stylist would be consulting with Karlin to ensure it was properly done. After four hours in the salon my daughters hair was still silver with black, not blonde. Not one other stylist, including Kendall, came by to see how things were going. When I went to pay she had charged me for a treatment a blowout and the toner equaling over $100! None of this was discussed or approved by me. We will not be back to the salon. read more

Posting for a friend who just returned from here and doesn't have a yelp. Went here last month for a cut and color. Charge was 65 + 12 tip=77 not bad right? I called last week and requested an appointment with the same stylist for today. They called me back a day later and said she was not available till the 24th and asked if I wanted to book with another stylist so I said sure. Well went today got the same service and went to pay and was told 87. Wait what? Yeah your original stylist is on a lower level then the one you had today. Well I was never told about levels and different prices. So the receptionist goes to the stylist and returns and says all we can do is take off 10. So I said fine so i paid 77 + 0 tip = 77. Why no tip you may ask? She was the one who only decided to take off 10, so she decided her tip amount. Receptionist then asked if i wanted to schedule my next appointment LOL...i said no thank.... I won't be returning to this place. Go to a better place where they post their prices have some customer service skills and respect their customers. read more

I love this salon. I have had my hair cut by several different stylists here and all have done an amazing job. They have great hours and definitely cater to busy customers. It's also a benefit that they are a Redken salon, so they are constantly keeping up with the latest styles / trends. read more

I went in for something simple and the employee tried to add on and upgrade services several times. Not a relaxing service either since it was very short and rushed. Because of the rush during the wash the person didn't do the back of my head. When I asked her to do it, she put conditioner all over the skin and didn't wash it off. Not for anyone over 30, and with anything but long straight hair. I was never offered a waterproof cape, and left soaking wet to the waist. Although I gave extensive instructions to the girl who did my hair, I got fried and my bangs chopped off just like my second grade picture. No, you are right....I am not a happy camper! I had gotten my hair done here twice before, three times now in total. The first time I got my hair done I love it and it was exactly what I asked for! The second time I got my hair it was not what I asked for and I went in the next day to allow the stylist a chance to fix it and she did. This third and LAST time I went into the salon I came in and asked for my hair to be SILVER and I walked out with yellow/blonde hair and bright orange roots. I called my stylist and told her this was not what I wanted nor did it look professional. I came in the next day for her to fix it. She applied a black shadow root to cover up the mistake and it started to resemble the look I wanted to accomplish the first time. Well, after 4 washes my orange roots have shown themselves again and the grayish silver on my hair has faded back to yellow. WITH ONLY 4 WASHES!! This made it clear to me that the "redo" I came back into the salon for was a quick fix that was meant to get me out of the door so she could focus on her next client, not to last (a shadow root should last for 8 weeks, not 1.5!) So I called to let management know about it and they tell me I'm going to have to pay again to get this fixed and it wasn't the salons fault, after I just spent 140$ and got results that I could have done myself at home with bleach and boxed dye! I am completed and utterly appalled at the reaction from Genesis Salon. When a client does not receive what they came in and PAID GOOD MONEY FOR, you make it your PRIORITY to fix it, not blame their "hair type" for the mess up. Do Not go here unless you want to pay good money and not get good results. read more
