I've been a member here since 2010 and I've been quite happy for some time. I've had a few car loans, a personal loan, a personal account, joint account and business account and overall it's been pretty good. However I think they're trying to grow too fast or can't keep up in some way. In order to get anything done, big or small, you'll be waiting on the phone for at least 30 minutes. The chat feature they have on their app is impossible to use on your phone, which is a huge bummer because 50/50 chance a member will be trying to get help via their phone. Overall just pretty bummed out by Genisys and their customer support. read more

I have been a member since the early 90s. I recently applied for a loan that was denied not because of credit but because or low income. I work a seasonal summer job, receive SS and a pension. I only have 1 credit card and low rent. The rude and nasty man in the loan department all but told me to take my banking elsewhere. Been loyal and credit union has absolutely no respect for customers. Sorry but this credit union has lost my respect and loyalty. read more

I was always treated with respect and great attention since I opened my account at Genisys Credit Union 11 years ago. I had two auto loans with them with the best interest rate possible. I recently applied for a personal loan and I got the pleasure of working with Marjorie Harris who gave me all the information needed, emailed me all sign off documents, and called me couple times to make sure that I got everything I needed. During the hard couple of years and during the pandemic, I came to really appreciate acts of kindness. It seems like the difficult years and bad economy showed the real person in everybody. This is usually my go to location, sometimes I will visit the Lake Orion branch as well. This location as other reviewers have mentioned take a while to do most things. There's usually a line that takes a little while to go through and more often then not theres only 1 or 2 people behind the counter and then people just sitting by themselves in their offices, luckily each person I've encountered here is very helpful and friendly once you're face to face with them. Every once in a while I'll run into a small issue here and there but it's usually remedied and I've never left upset. 3 years ago I did inquire about an auto loan here and I applied and it took 2 days for me to not hear anything until I called them - I then learned they wouldn't approve me for the amount I want and the rate was high even though I had good credit, the dealership approved me for what I wanted at a lower rate instantly. They then called me multiple times a month for a few months asking about my loan and if I want to refinance with them once I had one and I refused out of principle and they finally stopped calling me after I asked them to. About a year after that I was moving business accounts and closing other accounts and met with a banker who asked if I considered refinancing and they had a good rate they said with my score I should qualify for and I did, so I ended up refinancing with them. Recently about a year ago I got a new car and financed from them at the beginning and it was easier the second time around (although I still had to wait 2 days for the underwriter to get back to them whereas at the dealership its instantaneous, if you're worried about missing out on a car deal its better to just finance at the dealership if you have good credit and then refinance here right after once the cars in your possession). I've been a member for probably 10 years now, my grandma has been a member even longer. Genisys has ALWAYS treated my grandmother right and NEVER taken advantage of her, sometimes she has been bad with managing funds or forgetting she wrote a check or moved things around and Genisys has NEVER given her a hard time. I imagine staying a life-long member here and hope to have a continuously satisfied experience. read more

It is really unfortunate that I now choose to drive out of my way to avoid this Rochester Road Genisys Credit Union location. Ever since they moved into the new building, that they had built, I do what I can to avoid it. Firstly, the inside staff are very hit or miss on if they will be nice that day. The pleasantries are minimal and not more than a "hello" and "here you go." So, I have not gone inside to do my banking in quite a few months. Normally, I go through the drive through, which is better and the tellers there are usually friendlier. However, it does seem to take quite a bit as they are doing multiple jobs at once. We have once had to wait nearly 10 minutes to a do a deposit. On top of that, usually only one lane is open. However, the day I visited, the drive through lanes were not even open. They didn't have the closed signs lit up, it was just blank. So I did my transaction via ATM. My BIGGEST issue with this bank is how the drive through lanes were designed. They are extremely narrow, and at such an angle your tires hit and roll over the curbs. I've been through every lane in various vehicles (just depends who drove that day) and all have a hard time making the turn. I have seen other vehicles struggle, roll over the curb, and even hit their mirrors on the poles. If you look at the curbs, you will see all the marks from tires. BEWARE of the ATM lane, especially f you have a bigger vehicle like an escalade or truck! It is EXTREMELY NARROW. So narrow that you can't open the door to reach the ATM if you needed to. My truck sits kind of high compared to the ATM so it can be hard to reach it or the tubes if I was in a teller lane. At the ATM, my card blew away with a gust of wind and I couldn't open or maneuver to get to it. I had to move my vehicle, and complete the transaction standing there. Thankfully no one had pulled up behind me. I just can not express enough how horrible the design of the drive through lanes are. If I have to go inside a branch, I choose to go to the Crooks Rd location. read more

No issues with the members there. They were great and everyon is treated "really" well. I did not feel like i was with a bunch of money sucking bankers who are just about to trick you into their business. The staff is cheerful and positive. However, I went in for an auto loan to which I spent around 2 hours in 2 days in my office hours. All looked well. I repeat it was not the staff but the discrimination between immigrants and citizens is there in the "credit unions" policies. I do not blame the staff except that the complete "required documentation to apply for an auto loan based on citizenship status" be communicated "before" the credit report is run. I have no other complaints and thats why there is a three star. If I were a citizen here, i would have given this a 5-star. read more

Came in to this location because of fraud issue. This was one of a few branches that can replace your debit card in the office instead of waiting ten days to get it mailed to you. Everyone I spoke with was great and very helpful. I waited about 2 minutes before I was in the manager's office fixing the problem. It took about 15 minutes to finish up the fraud paperwork and another 48 hours before all of the money was returned to my account. read more

Genisys credit union - the only thing they have going for them is no fees for checking/savings accounts. CUSTOMER SERVICE - They're always smiling as long as you're handing them money. Otherwise, don't count on anything, ever, from them. Don't count on honestly, reliability, or apparently them knowing how to do anything ever without screwing it up multiple times first. ONLINE BANKING - Don't bother checking. It's always outdated. What they process will show up days later on your online banking. It'll claim that you have money you don't. Some things will sit in pending for a week, and others will process without ever pending. You'll deposit money on the 10th and spend it on the 15th and get massive overdraft fees because the deposit hasn't gone through yet but the withdrawal did. Not to mention double charges. You'll spend $50 and they'll put $100 on hold. You can't use your own money for 3-5 days until the holds drop for just about anywhere you go and may decide to spend money else you get an overdraft fee. DEPOSITS - Deposit at least a month ahead of time and check your deposits. No guarantee they get it right. FRAUD - If you've had a fraudulent charge...just switch banks. You'll never get it back. I have had multiple fraudulent charges. One caused overdraft fees and despite me getting the company that charged me to reverse it, the bank stuck up their noses and said not their problem. Another time, somebody halfway across the world used my card less than a minute after I had used it at a local store, and they thought this was utterly reasonable and that it was really me. Yes, I made a teleportation machine and got halfway across the world in under a minute to use my card for hundreds of dollars in diet pills over there. I am that awesome. PROTECTION - They have a great protection program. If they have suspicion that a store you've gone to or shopped online at has recently been hacked somehow, they will cancel your card for your protection. It's really sweet, actually. They make sure to cancel it right away while you're in the middle of the grocery store with $250 of food in your cart so you get the full effect of public humiliation. They don't bother to call you either or send a text or e-mail and when you call them, they say that you may have gotten a new card in the mail. If I did, I would've activated it and they would be able to see on their own screens that I had activated a new card. Of course, if this misfortune ever happens to you, don't worry, they'll print you a new card at the location if they have the machines to do it and promise it'll never happen again...which is will about 4 months later as you're sitting in line at McDonald's sipping your soda and hear that your card is declined and the bank isn't open for you to call which leads to....EMERGENCY - Don't have one. Just don't. They don't pick up the phone so you have to leave a message. They'll get back to you in several days if you're lucky. The only thing you can get 24/7 is to apply for a loan (they want your money, of course!) but help for a declined card when you have enough in your account? Nope. Customer emergency support? Nope. Want to pay them insane fees for a loan? Yup! And finally CARD REWARDS - Okay, I have to say something nice here. I like their rewards. Free gas? Totally awesome. I'm so going to get...oh no, wait, my bad. They have chips in their cards now so nobody gets their rewards. Sorry. I tried to end it on a good note. read more
