I probably visited about 12 other daycares in the Tigard/Beaverton/Hillsboro area and this one checked all the boxes! Everyone is super kind and they treat the kiddos like their own. My daughter loves going here! It's not just a daycare it's like a little school and she learns so much! She's 21 months old and she has learned all these songs, words, and phrases and it blows my mind. They go outside several times a day, do art and singing time, and they have well-balanced snacks/lunch for them too. I love how I get updates throughout the day from when she had diaper changes, pictures of play time or art time, even timestamps when she starts and ends naptime. We get videos as well which is so lovely to see how our kiddo is doing during the day. They are so consistent with routine! We feel so lucky to have found Bonita and feel truly blessed that they have so many amazing teachers that really care about the happiness and well-being of the kids. She put us between a rock and a hard place- either start our toddler early or lose our spot. We made the difficult decision to start early because our toddler was ready for more peer opportunities and we thought this was the right fit. A couple months in, communication began to dwindle. Although an app is in place for easy tracking of routines like meals, diapers, and naps, the director told us that once a child turns 2 she doesn't see the need (or have the time) to report these basic things. She said she would only share if anything was "different than usual." We found this odd and it made caring for our toddler difficult some evenings when we weren't told he hadn't eaten much or had a short nap. Staff turnover was a bi-weekly event for 6+ months. When a new staff member was hired, parents never received any formal communication to introduce the person. We'd show up and a new caregiver would be introduced to us on the spot, which made us uneasy and impacted our toddler's need for caregiver consistency. This daycare claims to be "Montessori-based," but don't be fooled by the wooden furniture and toys (it is a beautiful space). None of the experiences our child had at this daycare evidenced anything other than a boxed curriculum. Stickers on paper were the most common "art," and templated learning newsletters were sent home that we are confident were not followed. We received ONE custom newsletter during our time here. In May, 2024 the director shared directly with us that she's barely able to pay her mortgage and can't afford to hire more teachers (despite charging $1700+/month). We felt this was highly unprofessional to share and certainly alarming, especially given it was not at all related to the topic we were discussing, and we were paying a very competitive rate. This director has no problem terminating care with less than 24 hrs notice, at her sole discretion. We believe this is highly unethical except in emergency situations, which our situation was far from. It seems she did not like our reasonable requests for consistent communication and collaboration in the care of our 2 yr old. She even told us that our suggestions to care for him were "more of a distraction" than helpful. Who says this to a parent? Especially a parent who works professionally in early childhood and has a graduate degree + 15 years of experience with young children? We cannot recommend this in-home daycare and would urge anyone considering it to ask a lot of questions before taking the risk we wish we hadn't.

My son was at Home Sweet Home for a year and a half. The first year was great, he was happy and…read morelearning so much. Then a new teacher started in November and things changed. The teacher informed me that he was "too attached" to his pillow, which I was asked to provide to help settle him at nap time. When approached by the owner, Laurie, about him having a difficult time napping, she didn't seem concerned about my son, only about avoiding difficult and upset messages from other parents. I am a single mom, so I didn't think anything of it at the time. In the past month, my son has had some challenging behaviors, all deemed "hard to handle". Instead of having a sit down, something that is listed on the website, I was sent multiple videos from his teacher of said meltdowns. This made me anxious, as there was nothing I could do for my son and I was frustrated that it was more important to his teachers that the video his behavior, instead of trying to re-direct him and calm him. The final nail in the coffin was a voicemail I received from Laurie. I had expressed concerns to another one of his teachers, suggesting that they could add another teacher if they were having trouble maintaining the class with outbursts from my son, and as well as other kids. Laurie did not hang up her voicemail on time and proceeded to call me a "stupid F*ck" for not knowing state daycare regulations, something that someone who is not in the daycare industry would know. She also said "she wants me to hire another teacher to take care of her f*cking son" and "She's gone. The minute I can get rid of him, I need to get rid of him because she is trying to cause trouble". When confronted, she said she would never allow her staff to talk negatively about the children in their care, but she is a hypocrite and will talk negatively behind your back. This place is not accommodating.

He's all smiles when I drop him off, and tired from playing hardball day when I pick him up. I love the paper they give us as the end of the day that tells all the activities he's done that day. It was hard making the decision to take our boy to daycare, especially during a pandemic. But Laurie and team made us feel comfortable and helped make the transition smooth. We are forever grateful!

This summer we are still attending 2 days a week, they are going on little outings around the area. My daughter loves going, it feels like a second home. I love the easy going feeling Cheri has. She is available to the children and allows them to explore their world in their own way.
