My disabled mother came to live with us 8 years ago and languished in bed all day watching TV. My hair stylist told me about Gentog when it opened (her mother is one of the senior caregivers) and my mom started attending once a week at first. She now goes twice a week and has for almost 5 years. Gentog provides great social interaction, but more than that, she's made lifelong friends with the staff and other participants. Since starting Gentog, my mother's health has improved as well. The social interaction alone is a plus, but they were also helpful in connecting us with other senior services. My mom gained a level of independence once they got her started using the TriMet lift bus system, and she now gets books delivered by mail from the local library. They also provide amazing support for caregivers through educational classes, seminars and support groups. We are moving out of state, and one of the hardest parts of this move is leaving Gentog. We will miss their loving care and support tremendously! I'd trust Gentog to care for any of my family members, babies or adults. They are truly amazing!

We approached this with inquiry and asked the director about it. She admitted to us directly that she often uses a loud voice. We explained it alarmed our boys and asked that she be more aware of how her behavior/yelling impacts the class of young kids. Nothing changed. After a few more weeks, our boys shared the discipline approach. They explained that children were told to "sit on the wall" when they didn't listen or follow directions. Again, we asked Misty directly what this was about. She explained it as a "break," but it was clear from our boys that it was used as a punitive and public time out (which differs from their handbook policy). Sadly our boys often came home to share stories of different children being told to sit on the wall, and that their crying and sadness bothered them. One of the more serious concerns was learning that outdoor time is often unsupervised. The teacher(s) use this time to cook/prep in the kitchen and although there is a window and sliding glass door, they are not outdoors providing close supervision (with children ages 2-5). This is a serious licensing safety concern. Finally, screen time is a frequent activity at this site. We expressed our concern after learning one Friday the children watched 2 full length Disney movies, and it was dismissed. These are all things we wish we had known before enrolling. Our boys worked hard to earn the admiration of Misty and frequently expressed fear of her and sadness for the children who often were yelled at/or reprimanded. I'd urge anyone considering this in-home daycare to ask many questions and check in with their child often. Beautiful artwork will come home... and know there may be much more going on throughout the day that you may not approve of.

Swimming is my main experience at the club so here is what you should know: * Six lane outdoor salt water pool that is open year round (I've done laps in the snow, sleet, and hail). * You can reserve four of the six lanes and it is very competitive to get times, especially during the warm weather months when you are competing for space with the swim team, swim lessons, and aqua aerobics classes. * The other two lanes are left open for first come first serve usage and swimmers are encouraged to share. * The outdoor hot tub is for 14+ over. I have only taken one yoga class at the club and all classes have you reserve your spot. If you cancel less than 12 hours in advance or are a no show, you are charged a $10 fee. Personally, I don't mind since the reservation system makes me accountable and if I don't have a reservation, I'm less likely to go workout. The club is a nice mix of serious athletes (I'm surrounded by masters swimmers and triathletes), retirees, and families. Prior to my membership, my teenage son was a member for two years and loved the weight room, sauna, and steam room. The club as been open for awhile and is definitely showing its age and is need of some maintenance upgrades in the pool area. That being said, I have been very happy with my membership here and the personal feel, literally being greet by name when entering and exiting, and the wonderful customer service. This club is very different from the large national chains, so to each their own. Definitely recommend a trial membership at this club as well as others in the area to see which is the best fit for you. [1] I am currently re-watching this classic sitcom and while not aging well in the post Me Too era, still good for a lot of laughs.

Finally, this is exactly what we have been looking for. We've toured at least 6 places in the past two years for a preschool for our daughter. We were struggling to find a preschool that was not religiously affiliated, not a co-op and also not a day care. It seemed that those combinations didn't exist. Then Kids Unplugged opened on the corner of Bull Mt Rd and Hwy 99 (literally 3 minutes from our house). We toured the facility shortly after they opened. We were very impressed by Jenni's qualifications as a preschool teacher and the work that Jenni and Tommy put into their new business. The indoor play rooms are adorable and both my 3 1/2 year old daughter and 2 year old son have hours of fun here. If you ever see a princess in the dig pit, that's my girl! We are super excited for this upcoming school year. I'll update my review once we've had a few months of preschool here. read more

I can't say enough great things about this place. Miss Jenny and Miss Natalie are wonderful and really kid centric. You can tell when you tour the building, there is so much thought put into the rooms for different learning activities. I never felt like I was dropping off my son at a glorified babysitter. Our son was pretty shy before starting here at 3 and they really helped him to come out of his shell with the small groups of classes and attention paid by his teachers. We went to Jenni and Tommy's about a month ago for the first time, and have since made it a weekly trip for my 15 month old! He stays occupied for hours on end, with plenty of hands-on activities and toys, then goes home and crashes for a loooong nap. There are so many different rooms to explore, my little guy loves the bean pit, playing chef in the little kitchen, sliding down the slide and just hanging out with mom on the bean bags. The owners are so personable, and the facility is super clean. When my little one gets older, I'll definitely consider their preschool program. So much fun! read more

We visited this place today and loved it. My three and a half year old and 19 month old both enjoyed exploring the various rooms. There is so much to do both physically and creatively. It is very clean and organized. Having been a teacher, I especially enjoyed the different layers to each room. There are many interesting and challenging activities even beyond the more obvious toys so it means my children will have lots to do no matter how often they come. Also, please look at the dates for the positive reviews here and on google. The positive reviews are almost always in response to a negative one, meaning they have to request positive responses. This was a complete disappointment. Initially we were excited to have our 4-year-old start at Briar Rose. We did a tour with the owner Melanie and was presented with a service that sounded perfect. Our child had previously been in a bilingual daycare and was told that this was a bilingual school as well. My wife speaks fluent Spanish, and this is a requirement for my child. We had our questions like "How long has your staff been teaching?" and the answer was 7-8 years "Will my son continue his Spanish" and the answer "our teachers are bilingual". All of these questions were skillfully answered by Melanie. Two weeks later and my child's first day arrives. My wonderful wife does the drop off. She said it went well, but mentioned that the teacher seemed new. I come to pick up my son, at 4:30pm. Melanie said a quick hi, introduced me to the teacher (which I will not name, this review is not about her personally). The teacher was polite but too young to have 7-8 years of experience. I asked her how long she had been teaching and she replied "I have only had my own class for three weeks." We were never informed of a new instructor. We were told on our first visit the teacher had "personal issue" to take care of. After going over this with my wife we decided that this was not what we had been told, and simply wanted to cancel, get some sort of refund, and find another place. We wanted the refund due to being lied to. The teacher being brand new (not 7-8 years experienced) and not bilingual as Melanie had told me on a follow up phone call. Melanie was very disagreeable and offered several rebuttals always mentioning the contract. Unfortunately none of them addressed the bait and switch that took place. Melanie stated that they had passed on many students since my son had taken the spot, at the time we met, 10 days earlier, there was 7 openings in the Poppy Classroom, which at the time of this post an still be seen on their website. I was also told that "it is unfortunate that my son has a dad that makes quick assumptions." Which I took as an insult. As a parent, quick assumptions are necessary for the protection of any child. We can't sit in the classroom with them, we have to make assumptions. And still I was not making assumptions, just re-iterating the misinformation that I was given. Melanie continued to refer to the contract, and I continued to refer to back to the misinformation, regarding their school and what is advertised on the website. The site says Spanish speaking, with teacher Katie in the Poppy Classroom, Katie was not the teacher. The new teacher is not on the website all. Melanie is not on the website at all (correction, she is there but the photo isn't her). After further review many of the staff pictures are repeated with different names. I took screenshots of this information as it will most likely be remedied after this posting. It did not end well. Myself without a refund and them without a new student. This situation could have and can be easily resolved with a simple refund. Contract law is more important to them than customer service and honesty. Later Melanie attempted to trespass me from the property. I haven't even received a speeding ticket in 20 years. Ivette (the other owner) claimed I was "unacceptable, threatening and extremely demeaning" on a phone call that she wasn't on and I have recorded (100% legal in Oregon, and recommend everyone do due to situations like this). I never raised my voice and was extremely respectful. Ivette and Melanie immediately jumped to being victims the moment they had to confront adversity. I spoke directly to the officer involved and he also didn't understand their motives. As of this post they still have not returned all of my son's belongings.

After looking at 4 other day care centers near our home, I knew this one was it. What stood out mostly about this KinderCare was they never once asked me about money. They focused on our daughter's needs, our work schedule, and how they could accommodate. The kids that attended here seemed happier than other places I've visited. The class rooms are slightly bigger than other places I looked at (and it didn't feel like they were packed-in). Because my Daughter is just a few weeks shy of being 1, we were encouraged to visit again to see how she would do with toddlers in addition to getting to know the teachers and kids in her class. I felt confident and heard ever time I left their facility and the communication with the teachers and director have all been clear. It took some juggling but we are now attending there part-time. Today is her first day at KC. To my surprise, I received an email around noon with a picture ensuring she was fine and had a great time playing outside. I appreciated the director taking the time to ease my nerves into our first day. Upon our arrival, I noticed there were already assigned items to our daughter's name (clip board, cubicle, etc). I appreciated the organization and thoughtfulness of this facility. Hope to update soon with how things progress and if she likes being there!

I also love all the arts and crafts and pictures that get sent home! I definitely wasn't expecting that, especially with such a tiny little babe!

Knwing my child is safe and growing in their exploration of the world allow me to work without worry and be completely present with them when home. Communication about programming and our children is above what I could have hoped. Now that some kids have started older school, I have greater and greater appreciation for kindercare. I had two kids in their toddler room for 6 months, and then I pulled them out after being fed up. Now, after putting my kids in a different daycare I can see clearly how bad it was at Kindercare, I am still dealing with guilt that I didn't I pull them out sooner. Here is the good and the bad I experienced at this center. Good: - The outdoor space is big and beautiful with tons of toys to play with. - Teachers were really good at changing diapers quickly and my kids never got diaper rashes while there. - The front desk was always welcoming and greeted us with a smile. - There was always someone picking up the phone and they were always open to go check on your kid right away if you asked them. - They are not cheap but they have a good discount for intel or ohsu employees and they offer sibling discounts too. - They use a pretty nice app that informs you of the diaper changes, food consumption and photos shared. You can also message teachers and director via this app. - They have excellent hours that secure care for your little one even when you have a long day at work. Bad: - Generally the teachers were not engaging or showing much interest or affection to the kids. They were mostly standing around passively and often talking amongst themselves instead of the children. Sometimes kids would be wailing in the corner and no one would pay any attention to them. I witnessed this regardless of the time that I stopped by to pick up kids, or drop off anything for them. - The toddler classrooms are tiny! They have sectioned a big room into 3 little rooms that probably barely meet the min square footage per child. The rooms are always crowded and in a disarray with toys laying everywhere. They don't teach the kids to clean up and there were always (dirty) toys spread around on the floor that you would step on as you dropped off and picked up your kids. - the food is DISGUSTING. Don't be fooled by the menus they may show you. It may look good on paper, but first of all, the food served almost never matches what is printed on the menu for that day. "Fresh fruit" comes out of a can! Cheese and meat is processed. Bread is stale and white. Nothing is truly cooked there. It's all just thawed and/or warmed. I wouldn't eat any of that myself. - The kids were taken to play outdoors twice a day during summer, but even though we had a very mild fall and winter, but they did not take the kids out a single day from Oct to Feb. And after parents called to complain they took them out only occasionally when the weather was very nice. Their excuse was that some kids do not have warm clothes?! They kept the kids in the tiny tiny classrooms crawling around all day, and my boys would get horribly sick every other week. - They constantly move the kids around among toddler classes. We would always drop off our kids around the same time, within the allowed drop off time and around breakfast time and in their designated classrooms, but they would already be at capacity in that room and have to move some of the kids out to accommodate our kids. Sometimes they would take kids that were in the middle of eating their breakfast and have them walk to another room. It was always chaos and a lot of teacher/student switching once we arrived. - I had a kid that drooled a lot and I would give them extra bibs so they could change them out during the day, but despite asking a couple of times and sometimes even messaging about it they would forget and on his drooly days my kid would often go home in a wet shirt (with dry and clean bibs sitting in his cubby). -They had serious staffing issues and had to close their classrooms unannounced several days during fall and winter! Once they emailed us at 7am that they could only take 8 more toddlers that day, and first come first serve! Other days they would ask us to pick up our kids earlier due to staff being out. - There were also a lot of little less important, but annoying, things as well such as not removing the kids shoes for nap time, not being stocked with age-appropriate educational toys like legos, building blocks etc., not allowing food from home, they would play super loud music non stop in the evening, they tossed all the water bottles in a cubby all week and never changed the water or cleaned the bottles until parents pick them up at the end of week and clean them, they would not provide water to the kids during the day only at specific times (my kids were sooo thirsty when we picked them up because they couldn't speak and ask for water or they did and were ignored). All in all, while there are a few positives, I would never recommend this place to anyone who wants the best for their child. I have even heard teachers working at that center discouraging parents from putting their children there! That should be telling enough...

My toddler and I had a…read moregreat time with our friends here and finally a kids place that opens early in the morning at 9am! for those whose toddler likes to wake up at 6am lol) Plenty of parking in their parking lot. The space is bright and clean with so many fun options to play including a climbing wall, tree house, vet office, grocery store, cozy cabin, lots of sensory and building toys, as well as a side area for littler ones. There are 2 bathrooms and a separate nursing area with a comfy chair and curtain for privacy. Very thoughtful! The price is $19/child with the fee but there is no time limit which is great! Unfortunately no outside food allowed but they have plenty of healthy snacks for purchase. They also offer many birthday party options and parents night out on Thursdays for a reasonable price! We will definitely be back to beat the heat and for those rainy days in fall and winter!
